  1. Thank you, good ideas. It's a tough theme to make fun, and I think you're on to something there with a longer timeframe covering multiple subthemes to catch the interest of a wider audience and perhaps grab the attention of others who happen to be in the neighbourhood (like SLB's various displays/events do). Big job to coordinate, but if someone is motivated, I'd wish them every success.
  2. Like I said in my first post, I have no objection to it 🤷‍♀️
  3. That's what I was getting at in my first post. Important though the day and the cause is, it doesn't have much fun factor. Maybe I'm peculiar, but I come to SL primarily for entertainment.
  4. I think there's some confusion here that I am trying to discount women's achievements or that I do not know about them. I fully support International Women's day. It just isn't my idea of a fun event. Educational event, sure.
  5. On that, we can agree. Engineering isn't dull, it's niche, and very unlike the examples I gave (twice).
  6. been there done that.. needed chiropractor...
  7. that's an interesting idea - the tableau recreating famous artworks - as an art history buff I'd go see it. a little scared to ask what Victorian Boxing is...
  8. Yeah.. I think you're not quite getting my point. I'll try to rephrase. How is a woman engineer being a woman engineer doing engineer things entertaining? Is it an achievement? Probably, it's a male dominated field and if she's good at it, good for her. But if I'm not an engineer engaged in the same field as that woman engineer I would be.. meh. Especially in a place like SL where I come to have fun and be entertained. Whereas, we are all (to some degree) interested in food, fashion, architecture, history, cross cultural sharing. It's fun and we learn new things. Like a virtual vacation without the travel.
  9. Hmm.. Take the example I gave of the Southeast Asian cultural fest (again not sure what it was offically called). Fun part was reading the histories, comparing food recipies and seeing the SL rendition of it, looking at the different architecture, shopping for traditional inspired clothing, etc. It was fun and engaging. Women do everything under the sun, so it's hard to make a thematic event celebrating "women" en masse. International Women's day does focus on serious issues and it's important, but it just isn't the same as what I described above. If it was something like women fashion designers through the ages and influence on SL, I'd be all in, but that's rather more specific. Maybe broken down into mini themes might work, but interest will be niche and more about the topic than women.
  10. Women are fun. International Women's day.. meh such as? Sell me the fun factor, I'm willing to be convinced 😃
  11. I'll drink to that Some time ago there was an inworld event (can't remember what it was called) that featured floats and booths featuring all the Southeast Asian countries - history, culture, clothes, food, etc. It was delightful. I think we should have an International SL Day. I'd love to wander through a SL world expo every year (can also be full of shopping of course). 😍 No objection to International Womens Day events but I don't know if it would have much fun factor tbh.
  12. /me looks at popular Steam game discussion boards full of players since beta with 5000000 hours of game time 🤔
  13. I've seen way worse. Anyway most people would assume you're just making it up.
  14. I like this quote: "Most choose to identify with only one embodied representation of themselves, and that is their physical body. The difficulty of sustaining a second identity is considerable and the number of people willing to do that is smaller than I thought in 2006." makes me feel special ☺️
  15. I do my mentoring by answering questions in this forum. My compensation is posting awful dad jokes I don't dare associate with my real name. You could say I pay it one step forward, two steps back.
  16. What's the most used language in programming? Profanity How did the cybercriminal escape? Ransomware. This weekend I visited an old farmstead that got converted into a Chat-GPT-file-sharing factory. The sign out front read: “Old MacDonald’s Server Farm - AI & I/O”
  17. When I logged in after the latest update, it worked for a few moments then back came the glitch 😕
  18. I was hoping for free lifetime premium for all forum posters with more than 1k posts. Our forum Our imagination... 😇
  19. If the person knows who I am and where I live: screenshot + call police If not: rightclick + mute Since I never tell any stranger on the internet my address or real name, LL has already provided all the tools I need.
  20. Forums like this are like a coffeeshop. Some people are regulars and comment on anything and everything that happens in the coffeeshop, from the customers to the colour of the new chairs. Some people pop by once a month and say: heyyy sup coffee people? Get a little gossip in then wander off somewhere else. Some people just come in for coffee, get what they want and go on their merry way. And, occasionally, some people come in, ask for a coffee, and when there's not enough foam on it they flip over a table and everyone in the shop goes.. bruh.. chill. And sometimes the cafe owner tells us all to sit down and behave ourselves or they'll close shop early. now I made myself want coffee.
  21. Hmm.. it's the same hair I have on in my profile photo. Had it for a long time and never seen it do this til right after last update. I tried fiddling with the graphics settings, including ALM but the issue persists. I thought it might be LOD related as I can occasionally get it to snap back to normal with some zoom out/zoom in. But if I change hair, change the colour, or even move camera a little, back it goes to glitchy. thanks, following.
  22. I've been having some fabulously glitchy hair alphas since last update that I've never seen before. Not sure if it's SL viewer or my graphics driver or both.
