  1. A few ways that quality clothing might be defined in SL: There is no break-through showing the body under mesh clothing when the avatar is in commonly represented positions. The clothing shows realistic texture and shading, especially creases and pleating. There is minimal stretching of textures when the avatar moves. BOM or system layer clothing has clean lines at its edges and wraps realistically where the edges of textures meet.
  2. Portraying simulated sex with a minor human is illegal in many countries. Because nothing portrayed in SL is real, the portrayal and the age of users is all that matters here. RL statutes do not figure into the discussion, except in the definition of what is a "minor" in SL. Because what happens in private in SL is unlikely to be reported, this only matters when it is reported. When an illegal activity is reported to LL, it then becomes their responsibility to deal with it by banning those who got caught breaking the rules (and the laws). Linden Lab likely doesn't want to be viewed as contributing to RL child pornography or abuse either, so any depictions that could be viewed by the public are also their concern. Viewing simulated behavior that is illegal or repugnant to most people won't make most people want to do that behavior in RL, but for those who are inclined to do such behaviors in RL, viewing it might encourage them. Thus LL must make it difficult for sexual AP to be seen, even if they can't stop it completely.
  3. I don't know if anyone has ever been banned from SL for simulated sex with a furry. I know that simulated sex with animals is allowed, as long as it's in an Adult or Moderate sim. I think what you need to remember is that Linden Lab is primarily concerned with the legal implications of what is portrayed in SL, secondarily concerned with making money (and thus retaining users), and thirdly concerned with its public image. What might seem icky to one person doesn't figure into the equation as long as that person can avoid seeing what they don't want to see.
  4. Those of us who have been active in SL for years usually have several times over everything we really need in our inventories. We might even know how to make stuff we want too. Since merchants have to try to sell us more stuff, they try to make things that stand out in some way. Humorous or trendy things might sell better than the basics most of us already own. This is why I don't complain about new versions and new tech in SL. I could get on fine without using EvoX skins, but I'm glad they've given us a reason to buy new skins, which of course helps creators sell more skins.
  5. The latter term is more offensive because it makes a serious crime sound like a joke.
  6. Because people are guilty until proven innocent in SL. 🙄
  7. Please add an explanation for the color coding on this map.
  8. The imprecise wording of these statements has long been a problem, but "Adult objects" only applies to items being sold on MP or in stores imworld. Any object could have sex animations in it, so it makes no sense to define some objects as Adult. Avatars can also engage in sexual animations by using a HUD that is never rezzed inworld. "Every reasonable effort" is not clearly defined either. Some people assume that all of the examples have to be enacted, but enforcement has not shown this to be true. As an example, Bellisseria is all Moderate, but objects with sex animation are allowed in Belli even if they are not literally behind closed doors. Restricting access to Belli parcels only to a group is actually against the No banlines rule as well. Only one of those examples can be used to restrict visibility of sexual or otherwise Adult activity in Belli: turning on Parcel Privacy. Thus logic must conclude that one only needs to employ one of those examples, rather than all of them. The Second Life platform is used internationally in countries and US states that define the age of consent in multiple ways. In some states in the US, a 14 year old can legally be married and have sex with their spouse if the parents of the 14 year old have given consent for the marriage. The usual age of consent in the US is 18, but it's not usually considered illegal if the age difference between partners is less than 2 years. For instance, a 16 year old and a 17 year old, or a 17 year old and an 18 year old. What matters in SL is the age of a minor as defined by Linden Lab, which is 18 years old in real life. LL can't even define what is a minor or child avatar, because this would be impossible to do. A user might have an avatar that subjectively looks child-like, but which they say is a faery, a doll, or a vampire. It is thus left to parcel owners and managers to subjectively decide if an avatar looks and behaves like a child.
  9. Pet Delight - Free shoulder deformers on MP that let my female avatars continue to wear Matreya Lara classic bodies and all that clothing, while also giving them a body shape I like. This saves me so much time and money. I already put a note in the titles of my clothing folders to say which bodies those items fit. If they're wearing Lara classic, I search for "M *" . If they're wearing LaraX, I search for "LaraX". Each body folder has a slightly different shape. My Lara classic folder includes a shoulder deformer. My LaraX folder includes the small butt deformer for my thinner girls. I love my OG Lara bodies, because I have so much clothing that looks great on them now!
  10. Exactly, which is why I said "child-like avatars". There are always going to be people who say their avatar is not a child when someone else says it looks like a child. There are always going to be people who go right up to the line, no matter where that line is. Venue and region owners will have to make those calls for themselves. Governance will have to make those calls too, based on pictures, chat logs and user profiles. Enforcement will never be perfect, but clear and simple rules might reduce the number of people who say they didn't know what the rules were.
  11. There is basically no way to enforce keeping all adult clothing and items away from child avatars. There is no way to keep all child-like avatars out of Moderate regions. Nobody can check every object in a region to make sure they don't have sex animations in them. Nobody can prevent people from doing things in private that they aren't allowed to do in public. There's no way to monitor every island and skybox in SL. What's the point of creating a rule that can't be enforced? Governance can't even enforce the rules it has in place already. Even if the new rules are just for PR value, make them something that's somewhat enforceable. I suggest, 1. No child avatars in Adult regions. 2. No Adult content in General regions. 3. No naked or suggestively clothed child avatars in public. 4. No child avatars where sexual activity is advertised or visible. 5. No child avatars are to be engaged in sexual activity. All of the above situations can be reported. Then it's up to Governance to actually act on those reports in a timely manner.
  12. ^ Is this still the look you want? If you got a Maitreya Lara body before and still want a medium build, then I suggest staying with that body, but updating it with the HUD to the current version(s). The Maitreya Lara v5.3 will fit the most clothing, including what you already have. The LaraX v1.1 would need new clothes, and doesn't yet have much on the market to choose from. Both bodies are included for free in your update, and you won't have to spend time looking for a new body. The easiest way to update your look is with a new head and skin. Lelutka EvoX heads are the most popular and have many looks to choose from. Akeruka EvoX compatible heads are another good option if you like them, but I think the Lelutka heads are easier to use and it's easier to find applier makeup for them. The new Lara 5.3 and LaraX come with Velour BOM body skins, so you would only need to buy a head skin in a matching tone. Many skin creators make head skins in Velour tones, so you're not limited to just one skin designer, and you might find a skin you like on sale. I'm not available as an inworld shopper, but someone else might be willing to help you with that.
  13. What type of body are you using? Weekend sales are sometimes a good way to find new clothes, skin and hair. If you're making a whole new avatar, though, you'll probably want to start with a mesh body & head. Is your avatar male, female, furry or other? Do you have a budget for how much you want to spend? And do you want a slender, curvy, athletic, hourglass or pear-shaped body (if female).
  14. How is anyone going to have family roleplay? Will children have to be animesh? And don't animesh children present potential "Adult activity" problems too?
  15. People put money into slot machines, hoping to get a rare prize of a payoff all the time. Human psychology is weird.
  16. If you can post a picture of how your avatar looks, we can get a better idea of what's wrong. One common problem with mesh heads is wearing the wrong shape for that head. Start with the shape included with the head. Another shape made for that brand of head can also work. Then adjust the body shape before adjusting the face shape a little bit at a time. Another common problem for people who are not used to using mesh bodies and heads is having the default system body or head showing through the mesh parts. The best solution for this problem is to enable Bakes on Mesh on the body or head. Lelutka EvoX heads have BOM enabled by default, but bodies usually have a button for it on their HUD.
  17. One advantage of a HUD with a selection of colors a similar tone is that it's easier to match with other clothing. "Blue", "grey", "pink" or "white" doesn't tell us what shade it is. I've bought items that looked white in a color panel at a store, but were actually light grey. 🙁 Some people wear multiple bodies, so they like having multiple sizes in a pack, but there's an advantage for the merchant to knowing which sizes are more popular when they sell each size separately.
  18. @Governance Linden Will child avatars no longer be allowed in Bellisseria? Or in any Moderate rated regions?
  19. Also when one doesn't adjust their hover height correctly
  20. If you decide to purchase a mainland parcel, you can hold an extra 10% of land without paying extra tier on it by creating a group and buying your land for your group instead of as an individual. To create a group, first create an alt account. Then create your group and add your alt to it. You can invite friends to join your group and give different group abilities to different titles in your group. It's best to give owner abilities only to your alt, so others can't sell your land, mess up stuff, or take control of your group.
  21. The colored squares over SSP regions tell the Moles (LL contract employees creating the new regions) what work still needs to be done on those regions. As users, we can only guess which each color means, but we do know that green is the first color (or sometimes white) and red is the last color, before a region is released.
