  1. That's what temporary textures in-world are for.
  2. Personally I just avoid rigging any object that is ment to be rigid. But if you can't make it sit on a given bone, then rigging it is. And yeah for "hard" parts you typically give all vertices the same weight, but that can get tricky when it is mixed with "soft" parts.
  3. Region/Parcel settings always, unless i'm building/editing something, or I really need to take a sunset picture.
  4. It should be seen as a red herirng imho, if product pictures look like they haven't been taken in-world. That's what you are buying after all.
  5. That seem insane, you'd think experience participation would be immediate. To be fair, my system is in need of rework, a simplified design with a central, master controller or something.
  6. If this helps, I use a security orb that kicks out people who aren't in the experience freom my experiece-area, and on TP/login i usually get kicked out myself. It 'appears' that an avatar's experience status doesn't arrive at the same time as the avatar itself (baaaad)
  7. That's the entire idea: it is not sustainable. And it is foolish to think that we can burn several earth-years of biomass every year without consequences.
  8. My point of view on fossile fuels is pretty simple. Fossile fuels are nothing more than a biomass "battery", an energy potential accumulated over millions of years. As long as you use in a year, more than the earth can produce in a year, you have a problem.
  9. I was under the impression that most fires usually have a human origin, negligence.
  10. I was under the impression that most fires usually have a human origin, negligence.
  11. I'm glad that I'm not alone, a lot of seller seem to purely focus on the ad, to the point where you wonder if that's what they are selling.
  12. I did not say that unix time was a secret but that your code still NEED a shared secret and maybe also a completely random element.
  13. You already have a time element. You do understand that sha1 is non-reversible right?
  14. those llMD5Strings actually reduce the hash strength imho. You also obviously want to add a shared secret.
  15. But do you NEED the message to be obfuscated? Or merely authentified? Is the data actually worth hiding?
  16. Sounds like encryption isn't what you need, message signing is. sender -> message + sha1(message + secret) receiver -> if( sha1(rcv_message + secret) == rcv_signature) then...
  17. I've used animations from "Posing Lady" set by daiz Papp, they are not fully static, but have some really simple leg/arm shifting that are very unobtrusive. They also come in versions that do not lock the head/neck too.
  18. A: Hey I sold my old car for 4990$! B: That old junker? How did you do that? A: I ran a lottery, 10$/ticket, and if you win you get the car. B: I don't get it. A: 500 people participated. The winner came to collect the car, but when they saw it, they asked for a refund instead. B: So what did you do? A: I gave them back their 10$ and kept the car.
  19. Last time i used substance (was a while ago, can't afford this stuff) I made my own output nodes for spec/gloss/environment and used SL temp textures as my preview.
  20. You don't need another piece of software, keyshot is also extremely expensive.
  21. Substance's is designed around PBR manterials, so you'll have to do some work to produce an output that is more suitable for SL's diff/norm/spec.
  22. Sketchup isn't exactly known for its amazing rendering.
  23. It's not a secret but it isn't widely used.
  24. Technically as the land owner it could unsit rather than returning the object.
