  1. If users get barred from half the grid because their avatar is too heavy, yeah. Right now it's just who gives them the most shiny for the cheapest because that's the only important metric.
  2. I'm surprised with the UDP issue that LL hasn't banned it yet? It is clearly a case of "so outdated it shouldn't be able to connect".
  3. You must have the wrong person, the only land empires I have cannot leave my alcohol induced daydreams. It was a genuine question.
  4. Funny enough I have yet to get banned (other than through association) from anywhere in 16 years. I wonder why.
  5. I have a script that has been trying to force a collision for 4 years with no success, and it tries constantly. It is hard to put in human terms how massive the UUID possible range is and the likelyhood of a collision is so small. here is a quote from people smarter than me:
  6. If that's what it is, then it is very strange indeed, all of those are your own prims? as in uploaded meshs by yourself and/or prims made with the create panel?
  7. Sounds to me like you haven't given us the full story and there is an anti tamper script in that object.
  8. If only we were given decent tools to do so. Sometimes I get the feeling that Linden Labs did everything they could to ensure that despite giving us a semi useful metric, (that can be gamed ridiculously still) landowners couldn't start to push for more optimized content this way. A bit like they always try to avoid hurting land barons too much.
  9. You can technically ban anyone, for any reason, or no reason, your land in SL is a virtual equivalent of a private home. There are numerous "boy only", "girl only", "humans only", or "furries only" locations. (I'm hoping one day to see places pop up that discriminate against high polygon avatars but that's a story for another time) Who you are in SL is mostly defined by your avatar and your profile page, so typically those bans only affect those who refuse to comply to the required avatar style. Now as far as dicriminating against real world attributes, this is where it might (possibly?) get dicey. Almost, but not really, estates are still subject to the SecondLife ToS and are very much not their own thing in that regard, the main difference being that, unlike on the mainland, you can be completely barred from access.
  10. @ReiramonDont worry, I just misread @Wulfie Reanimator's example and thought they did a thing that they didn't.
  11. <Nevermind it's 2:30 am and I'm tired>
  12. Yeah but that's fine. There is a point where you have to accept this is enough, when it starts to negatively impact the many for the sake of the few.
  13. No i know which jira she is refering to.
  14. The problem is that eject/tphome/ban are the only options we have, after 16 years, and all of them are basically "nuclear". I keep being told that milder options would be "abusive". Which is perfectly within their rights, you have no right on land bordering yours. If they cannot see you, you also cannot see them.
  15. The action of ripping a model isn't really the problem, it's what you do with it after that is. But uploading a model, any model, in secondlife is essentially distributing it. Even for personal use, this model will be replicated on the screen of every computer that can see it. If you aren't the IP holder, that is not a right you are given.
  16. @Rolig LoonA possibly less laggy option would be that once a HUDd auth itself, you store its UUID (it will not change as long as it remains attached), then rather than querying it again, you merely test for the existence of theUUID in the region.
  17. That or scriptable interfaces/message systems.
  18. Yeah I should have precized in my reply, mesh devkits are NOT the original source files, (there are VERY RARE exceptions), and have been mangled one way or another to prevent you from using them directly. (Note that just like no-modify, it doesn't offer any real protection)
  19. Synchronising media on a parcel will typically require a live streaming solution, that's what it was designed for.
  20. I'll chip in and say what everyone already said, "nothing specific" you can't bring in a custom skeleton, you have to work with the one that is supplied.
  21. I noticed a fairly important bug on blender 2.9, i figured I would point it out. When you have multiple objects that share the same mesh data, only one of them will show the editing outlines in edit mode with "in front" checked. I worked blind for an entire day before realizing this was why >_>.
  22. You'd think that the grandfathered status would only be a commercial gesture offered to current owners? Cause this appears to create one hell of a grey market and I can't think of why that would be a good thing.
