  1. Yay! Works great and makes pretty things Thank you ! Emma
  2. Excellent article Jenni. I'd been experimenting with this for a while, balancing land impact and especially trying out different ways to link solid and phantom objects without increasing land impact hugely. Finding myself using rezzer boxes a lot more to optimise land impact. Your article put what I'd been guessing at clearly and provided me with explanations too. I appreciate the work you put ino this very much - thank you Jenni Emma (And I was surprised at what I achieved in my tiny store going round optimising prims!! Wow - well worth my while!)
  3. Thank you, Maxwell - that's really nice. Emma
  4. Oh dear! Is there any chance you may be wearing something on your midriff? Maybe some sort of alpha? Making a note of what you are wearing, then take off everything, and reattach the items one by one. Hopefully this will help you spot the culprit and sort the problem. Good luck!
  5. Hi Cheryne there are a lot of hunts in Second Life. Here are 2 links I know of to find out which hunt is going on: http://huntsl.wordpress.com/ http://huntsl.wordpress.com/ This website lists hunts but also blogs some of the items to be found: http://huntingsl.com/category/second-life-2/page/4/ If I'm in a shop I like I look to see if they are taking part in any hunts (usually there is a hunt sign outside or near the door of the shop). Most of the hunts are free, there are some which are between 1 and 25L$. To be honest, I am not sure the quality necessarily changes the more you pay... Have fun hunting! Emma
  6. If you would like to try another FREE well-supported multi-sit animation system which doesn't use pose balls, you could try nPose. Sitters get a choice of menus and sit poses/animations and lots of avatars can sit at the same time. There are more features such as rezzing objects, sequencing etc that you may find interesting as a budding builder. You can find a free copy by joining the nPose group and asking in group chat for a current list of vendor locations. I do have an nPose vendor on the back wall of my shop - see my Picks for location. Also, in my shop you could try several of my items which use nPose for animation to get an idea of how it works. Emma
  7. I have had 2 reports - however the folders weren't empty - just the actual item was missing. Test delivery was fine. The item is a freebie with transfer only permissions for the customer. The box it is packed in has no transfer permissions. The box also contained a script which unpacks the box and makes a window with a link to my marketplace pop-up. One customer thought that this might have been responsible somehow for the lost item, so I have removed it. I have no idea whether that's right. So I am waiting to see if there's any more reports... and why oh why do people assume merchants are trying to cheat them and write reviews BEFORE making contact? However, I sold about 400 of these freebies and have had no other such reports... Emma
  8. Thank you Rolig - it's perfect Emma
  9. Too funny!! Mine's the Little Tree Garden - didn't do well at all to start with but in the last 6 months has sold big time...
  10. Try Builders Brewery - they have a lot of instructor led classes about all aspects of creating in Second Life. Emma
  11. Thanks Dilbert - managed to get into a different region, home region also seems to be back online too. I'd read some scary stuff about this in previous forum threads so - Phew!! . Emma
  12. Tried with different viewers and alt and into different regions, but getting same message - any advice please? Thanks - Emma :)
  13. Just wondering if it anything to do with the server rollbacks last week... I think they were Tuesday last week... Emma HAHAHA Cerise got there first!
  14. I like the idea of the sprint task list Just how much spare capacity do the commerce team have for implementing new ideas AS WELL AS communicating extensively with the merchant community? I know from personal experience how much time meetings, preparation for them and reports take up. Personally, I'd like to get an understanding of the priority tasks the commerce team faces (which may be "under the hood" and so invisible to us), present them with issues merchants feel are priorities for them - and start negotiations as to what can be taken forward. Following from that, maybe occasional updates and very infrequent reviews of priorites perhaps involving meetings may then suffice... My little wish list for the sprint list on page 1 of this thread Emma
  15. Hi Kubric This works for me too - thanks!! I agree - it would be great to have a scripter's view on this. Emma
  16. Thank you very much for the update - I really appreciate your explanation and hope the efforts you are making will soon put things right for the merchants affected.
  17. Emma's little wish list: 1. Please continue to inform us about changes to Marketplace - as you are now doing regarding the magic boxes. 2. I'd like the direct delivery system to include delivery notifications please. 3. Notification of when a review on a product is written would be most welcome. 4. A review of Marketplace Categories would, in my opinion, improve Marketplace for customers and merchants alike. 5. Please give information on how Marketplace Search can be made more efficient, e.g. excluding demo's from search. 6. On Listing Items, please make the image preview a little larger so duplicated images can be more easily spotted.
  18. A pool surrounded by rocks with places to sit on the rocks for multiple avatars? Emma:)
  19. Thanks for that, Pam - I thought about asking for the review to be removed, only how would they know the item was in there in the first place... So I just wrote a comment explaining... It's just a freebie anyway - I'm vain enough to like 5 star reviews !! Emma
  20. My item was boxed, but the main prim inside was not delivered to one customer who left me a bad review... - my immediate test delivery was fine and no other customers have complained (item sold about 200 times before this review). Not sure this is the same thing... I hope not a pattern... I detest bad reviews for problems over which I have absolutely no control! - End of rant - Emma
  21. Hi Rolig Was finally able to work on script: The animations work perfectly in sync with the movement, ... BUT The pivot prim turns from left to right, rather than forwards and backwards. I've tried a number of things: I can get the avi to sit right for the movement, but then the pivot prim is in the wrong position for slicing... I feel like maybe I'm missing something really obvious here? Emma
  22. The only way I can think of is to put them into a rez box - for this they would need to be modify permissions. You would rez the box on the floor - which would set the height - and then click it to rez the pose balls... Emma
  23. Thank you Rolig - you've given me tons to think about ))) I'll try the script as soon as I can get back into SL for longer than a couple minutes (laptop swallowed the cat me thinks). And yes working with a swing which has the right axis and cut, I'll take a look at Dora's script also - thank you for the link:). Emma
  24. I'm not a great scripter - but have successfully modded and chopped bits of scripts... Want to use 2 poses in a swing script I have. What I'd like is for one pose to animate the avi until it reaches the end of one swing movement, then change to the other pose... This is the free script from Eloise Pasteur: 1 // Put this script in the pivot - the thing the swing swings around (it doesn't have to be a long rod). That needs to be the root of the prim set that actually swings - if you want/need a frame that needs to be a separate item. SL doesn't yet allow us hierarchical linking. 2 3 // Play with these bits - the orange comments tell you what's going on with each line I hope. 4 5 integer swing=FALSE; //So it starts out NOT swinging 6 float time=0.1; //Decreasing this (on it's own) makes the swing move FASTER and vice versa 7 integer steps=20; //The total number of steps in the swing's path. More steps=smoother swing. More steps (alone) means slower swing too - time for a complete swing cycle is steps * time (so 4.8 s with the default settings). 8 integer swingDegrees = 30; //How far from the vertical the swing moves 9 10 //If you play from here on down you might break the script. Do so at your own risk. There are no comments - just to encourage you NOT to play. 11 12 integer i=1; 13 float swingRad; 14 vector normal; 15 16 rotation Inverse(rotation r) 17 { 18 r.x = -r.x; 19 r.y = -r.y; 20 r.z = -r.z; 21 return r; 22 } 23 rotation GetParentRot() 24 { 25 return Inverse(llGetLocalRot())*llGetRot(); 26 } 27 SetLocalRot(rotation x) 28 { 29 llSetRot(x*Inverse(GetParentRot())); 30 } 31 32 default 33 { 34 state_entry() 35 { 36 normal = llRot2Euler(llGetRot()); 37 swingRad=DEG_TO_RAD*swingDegrees; 38 llSetTouchText("Swing"); 39 } 40 touch_start(integer num) 41 { 42 if(swing) 43 { 44 swing=FALSE; 45 llSetTouchText("Swing"); 46 } 47 else 48 { 49 swing=TRUE; 50 llSetTouchText("Stop swing"); 51 llSetTimerEvent(time); 52 } 53 } 54 timer() 55 { 56 float stepOffset=(float)i/steps*TWO_PI; 57 if(i>steps) i=1; 58 if(swing==FALSE && (i==steps || i==steps/2)) 59 { 60 llSetTimerEvent(0.0); 61 SetLocalRot(llEuler2Rot(<normal.x, normal.y, normal.z + swingRad*llSin(stepOffset)>)); 62 } else 63 { 64 SetLocalRot(llEuler2Rot(<normal.x, normal.y, normal.z + swingRad*llSin(stepOffset)>)); 65 i++; 66 } 67 } 68 moving_end() 69 { 70 normal=llRot2Euler(llGetRot()); 71 } 72 } My question is: is it possible to use this script with the 2 poses I have? Where in the script would I insert the directions for the poses to play? Thanks! Emma :)
