The sky's the limit, and pie-in-the-sky numbers make perfect sense when you have no clue of what's going on. Groups in Second Life were originally intended to share and organise permissions and tier. They also comprised Roles, allowing some to have more power than others within the group. They expanded a little to compensate for peoples' willingness to group up and socialise within these groups, though chat has never worked. Mostly the intention has always been that having a connection to a group should be a meaningful thing - group members should be somehow invested with the functioning of the group. Groups are not, and never have been designed for one-to-many marketing or simple authentication checks - their processes are too heavy and their resources too large. There are several significantly cheaper (resource-wise), more effective and less obtrusive options of testing interest or providing 'paid' access to VIP content than using groups. The modern swing toward stores using groups makes no sense from an administration point of view, and it will almost definitely not be encouraged. There's no way anyone can have a meaningful relationship with 300 groups, that's double Dunbar's number in groups. This is interesting - I would like to know what these options are, Freya. Thank you! Emma

It's an ongoing challenge for any platform, and we'll continue to monitor and take additional measures as needed. Thank you for coming in and confirming that you made some changes - that's great . AND I am very happy to hear from you. Emma
  3. You are right I hadn't. Is it still rampant there at times? Nothing when I checked right now... I'd love for Linden Lab to say whether they did / are doing something. For the moment I am enjoying the unfettered view . Emma
  4. Wow Linden Lab have cleaned up! Goodbye spammers!! Ok I know it's not all gone but the volume has been hugely reduced. There used to be pages and pages of it, now maybe I have seen one a day. Yay:) Well done Linden Lab :) Emma :)
  5. I am sorry this has happened to you . All the other advice given is great. Have you thought of having a skybox to rent out on this parcel instead? Maybe with some nice panoramic textures on the walls? Anyway, whatever you choose to do, Don't let this bully spoil your enjoyment of Second Life. Emma
  6. Did I miss it? Has the SPAM gone?? I've not seen any for 2 days.... Gets ready to celebrate...
  7. Firstly, I don't have the same issue. But something weird occured with a mesh i was using. One face would flip offsets when I touched it - it should have just gone fullbright. All other faces behaved normally. I have heard from someone in a scripters' group that they also had an issue with "bad" mesh faces. If such a thing exists ( obviously my evidence is anecdotal ), I wonder if it could be related to your problem. So I wonder what happens when you try the code in a different mesh or even a prim....
  8. I think I use the same as joshuatimothyheart. Couldn't be easier to use and since the script is full perm you can use it in your own prim (I think it would probably need to be in the root prim of a multiple prim object). That gives you lots of flexibility - I've turned mine into rocks, mushrooms and a bridge - but then I know that those are the teleporters.... You might want something that tells people to "click here to teleport to 2nd floor" etc though! Emma
  9. I found that after changing position of a rocking chair with a very similar script and resetting the script, I needed ALSO to move the rocking chair slightly back and forth to make it "notice" its new position.
  10. As a fellow merchant, just your item 1 would make me deliriously happy - and maybe it's relatively easy to implement...? Item 2 is nice, though i'd prefer if there was a more usable report function showing all items sold. Of course, making marketplace place work really well for customers would be my top priority.
  11. Great news! SL works on android mobile devices - actually better than that! It runs extremly well on those This should make it a lot more interesting to the increasing numbers of people owning these. Seriously though I can't see anyone who's not already a hard core SL addict temporariy without their top of the range pc paying $3 an hour. Maybe I'll be proved wrong (well I am the Queen of Mean). A deal on this for premium users? Wow that would be a fantastic idea!
  12. This feels like a great new start ))). Thanks Ebbe and Linden Lab.
  13. Yes - go to EDIT > PREFERENCES > TEXT CHAT > CHAT FONT SIZE - get a choice of small, medium or large. There are a few other options on that window that might help improve your experience. Emma
  14. thanks guys! that was interesting - if only to confirm that i am not ready to try linux just yet no worries about the derail!! hahaha thanks for all your suggestions now decisions decisions for me... emma
  15. Thanks Kwakkelde. I was going to go for Windows 8.1 for the OS...
  16. Thanks Orca ) I'll make sure I don't order until I'm sure components are compatible.
  17. Quicker, less prone to breakdown, produce less heat, quieter than ordinary hard drive. Though I have to agree it's a bit of a frill...
  18. Hi Czari It is confusing!! I'm so glad to have people's help here. And very happy you're thrilled with your PC! I wish we had a Directron here - though cyberpower and Alienware and maybe also HP offer building pc options which I will check out.
  19. Hi Steph Thanks for your recommendations - it's hard for me to know what is absolutely necessary and what are frills. Seems I'm lucky I don't need to go for budget stuff but it's against my nature to waste money too!
  20. Hi Jennifer I checked out Dell - they didn't offer what I wanted and Alienware's standards didn't either. There are customisation options - though I need to do more research to understand them! I'll try HP too - thanks!
  21. Hi Orca, thanks for your helpful reply. You're right - my nearest town isn't that far away. I don't have any recommendations for computer shops even in that town though. So, my preference is to find a reputable company that will build a pc for me. And I sure don't have any idea about what this thing should cost!! So people's comments on that are much needed
  22. HI Kelli, the link you gave gives me some kind of unexpected error... but thank you - I'll try and google them.
  23. Thanks Steph - I so wish I could do it myself or had someone I trusted to build it for me.
