Now instead of "detaching" the glass I dropped it and ever since I get the following message repeated ever couple of seconds: "Script trying to trigger animations but PERMISSION_TRIGGER_ANIMATION permission not set" and it won't stop. It has been like this for a couple of days and I don't know what I can do about it. Your help will be geatly appreciated. Thanks. Did you pick it up or is it still hanging around spamming? [i know thing about scripting]
  2. Today SL is being bad in-world and on the site. I show my sis online when I know she is at work. Refer your friend to this link http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ [postED 2:10 PM PDT Mar 21 2011] Work to resolve the current issues is still in progress. Please check back here for updates. [postED 1:06 PM PDT Mar 21 2011] We are aware that a portion of our residents are currently experiencing problems logging in and with inworld services as well as having difficulty logging onto the Second Life website. We are currently working to resolve this as swiftly as possible. In the mean time, please avoid making important transactions or rezzing no-copy objects.
  3. Indeed, Welcome to SL. Hit the Grid Running and be sure to have a bear [and an avatar]:smileywink:

The Newest Beta Download offers Two choices : More Here Basic mode is an easier, simplified experience designed to introduce users to Second Life. It includes simple communication and navigation tools such as click to move and hold to move the camera, a choice of 24 pre-configured avatars, and an integrated Destination Guide to help you connect to friends and interesting places quickly and easily. Certain functionality, such as voice capability, building tools, and the ability to purchase virtual goods, is not available in Basic mode.
  5. George Orellana wrote: @phaedra. Group liability is only tied to the choice of having a pracel owned by the group show up in search, currently the fee is 30L per week. It has nothing to do with land tier. Yes! This and the default charge for The Everyone Role is the first thing folks should look at right after creating a group. That said I must dash In-World to see if any of my groups are wrong;-) lol
  6. Do you have windchimes or a welcome mat? Which song does it play? Music?
  7. Freedom Rush wrote: I have a "free" parcel that came with membership. Here is my weird problem: When I go home I hear a song (the same song ) in japanese. It usually plays once, then stops. If I mute all sound I STILL HEAR IT. I know it sounds crazy but I can't figure out where it's coming from, When I leave the parcel it stops playing. Help! It's really annoying. Try disabling media and music and see if that stops it. Process of elimination will help us figure out what is causing this.
  8. Ishtara Rothschild wrote: Domitan Redenblack wrote: <snip> What varieties of Landing Point (etc) are there? As long as teleport routing is set to "anywhere", everyone can tp around your sim or parcel. New arrivals will still pop up at the landing spot though, unless they're following a landmark or tp offer to a different spot. If you set teleport routing to "landing spot", visitors can no longer tp anywhere else on your land. If they try, they will only appear at the landing spot again. This is extremely annoying for those of us who use doubleclick teleport as their main means of locomotion. I use to cam around in stores and doubleclick-tp right in front of a vendor once I found what I was looking for. If this throws me back to the landing spot, I will leave the store and take my business elsewhere. People who try to cripple me don't deserve my money. Ishy, in Viewer 1.23.5 if you follow the GO link on things found at this location, I think it takes you right to the spot? I need to check this and links in Classified too. ETA: Verfied this behavior. When you take a link from a Classified or from Search 1.23.5 GO you land where it is, not at a Landing Area Specified by the parcel.
  9. Domitan Redenblack wrote: Jaylin Wytchwood wrote: You as owner will land where you want, others, even in group, get your designated landing Point. What about officers of group owned land? Members of group owned land? If you have several parcels within one sim that are group owned [and you are in the group wearing your tag] and they have landing spots assigned, you may still travel within the group owned parcels anywhere regardless of set landing point If you tp from another sim, you will arrive at the designated landing point within the parcel you are accessing regardless of group status. [this is my observation through experience]
  10. Pep wrote: Do vendors in SL licence the objects they sell to allow this? Pep (would be surprised if they did.) Some do, Pep.. their notecards explain the use on other grids.

I hope today and the rest of the year brings good things to you all in both SL and RL. 12. Jessika Rang wrote: (Hi cousin!) These forums have felt odd from the beginning - but maybe they are getting better. At first it seemed that my posts spelled the death of a thread - no replies, no nothing (I was getting a little paranoid)... but lately its maybe a little better. To be honest I am thrilled with the one Kudo I received on the answers tab. I have never been one to subscribe to a thread - and here it seems that many threads die off the first page and are forgotten so I scan thru but don't spend as much time as I used to - I am actually spending more time in world. Just posting so you will not have killed the thread :smileywink:
  13. Perhaps you should contact Kim Linden about this. Donation Linden is selling the bears on SLM. Brooke Linden is in charge of SLM. See this Blog Post.
  14. Ima Rang wrote: The new forums just feel ick. Like you can't find your peeps...a community split...I miss you guys:smileysad: I have noted that since the new forum has been implemented, that I have spent less and less time in world. Anyone else? Feels like some huge disconnect took place and that only seems relevant to me as I was least liked on the forums, can't imagine how the people that were actually highly regarded must be feeling....What's going on? It has become tl:dr so a Twitter movement was accomplished:smileywink:
  15. Jo Yardley wrote: I remember this being announced months ago; play SL in an internet browser. I tried several times but was never selected to give it a go. Now I am wondering if this project is still going ahead, can we try it somewhere, will it go official soon? Any news? Just like bigger prim sizes and mesh it sometimes seems that something is announced and then almost forgotten. I used it, loved the ability to show friends SL using it. It was a fun Beta and I do wish it still worked or had been promoted on say FB or Twitter.
  16. Ruth is still with us, how you do fix being ruthed? I make sure my inventory is all loaded, that usually does it.
  17. ChloeAnn32 wrote: Greetings All: I am VERY new to Second Life-less than 2 hrs. LOL I was wondering if anyone could direct me to where I can find the following information. 1. How do I change my appearance (skin color, clothing, and hair)? 2. How does one find employement? 3.Is there anywhere I can find informationpr someone that would literally "show me the ropes"? Any information is appreciated. I tried looking at tutorials on You-tube but it seems like i'm missing something. I thought you could customize what I look like instead of getting a generic version of a female avatar. Is it going to change everytime i log in? Please help! Chloe Ann Welcome to Second Life. I am placing a very useful link here that will help you with getting started ... PussyCat's Blog Welcome again:smileywink:
  18. Keli Kyrie wrote: I had not been "In-World" for 2 months when I logged in last night and when I did to my surprise I had been unfriended... BY FIVE PEOPLE! The 5 people were all SL friends so we had no contact outside of Second Life. One was a long time friend. Meeting her was the most helpful thing that has happened to me in SL. She showed me where to get freebees and how to get started. Sure we didn't hang out everyday anymore but we would still meet up for a girl's night out once in while. Another I would hang out with 3 or 4 times a week and we would go dancing. So I think you are getting the point here. They most likely had no idea what had happened to me, but to cross me off their list?!? I have friends from college and sometimes we go years without talking but when we do we take off from where we left off. They don't unfriend me because I was gone for a little while. What do you think? Should I IM them and try to become friends again or should I just let them go? What would you do? how strange and un-friendly of them. I would compose a notecard and give it to all of them, explaining that you had some issues and are now back.:smileysurprised:

One even tried to get online in SL, but got a message that they were already online.... This was the msg that was send: Free Lindens! Welcome All Second Life Players! You can earn up to $750L for each survey that you complete! Click on any of the surveys below to get started! click the link to start winning http://lindensforfree.noads.biz My friends got several angry IMs in their mailbox why they were posting such crap in their group, some were even ejected from groups. I advise ppl to change their password at least once a week... But to one friend it happened twice in 1 week... How is this possible? If they have never shared their passwords with anyone, then I suspect a connection to some alt detection tool that requires they login to an external site.
