  1. I am a little late to the party, but I just had the issue and found this thread no. 1 on Google, so here are my 2 cents: If you have a rogue scripted object that floods local chat (in my case not even attached, but a rezzed group inviter), it doesn't matter what you do until you fix or delete it. Worst of all you won't find it by scanning the chat, because as the message says, all chat is blocked from visibility, but the object continues to flood, hence even if you restart the region you're chat-blocked again in no time. For scripting: I will from now on add an llSleep(...) after EVERY llSay() and llWhisper().
  2. NOW down to 1 L$ / sqm! Since my shop moved to my homestead sim, I am giving up my mainland parcel in Cyratto, 4096 sqm / 1 L$ per sqm, on a protected beach. Have a look: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cyratto/20/39/23
  3. IMHO, if possible any prim should be modifiable, as long as your business model doesn't rely on modified prims. So if you sell hair, and you expect customers to pay for another color, you obviously can't sell them with mod permission, because SL's mod permission is not fine grained (i. e. modify size, but not texture or tint).

I am already using DD for my boxes. I wanted to change the delivered objects to folders with the contents, that's all. And I've tried it one by one. After uploading the new folders, I wasn't able to associate the new objects to existing listings, they were not visible. However, after clicking here and there, they became visible (I cannot say when and why). After changing the association for the third product, it was corrupted and gone. And yes, I've submitted a ticket, and received an absolute useless reply (after several days). So I gave up for now.
  5. I have to concur with your determination that DD pretty much works as expected .. and also that most of what we hear to the contrary is FUD. Yeah, I've dealt with your FUD the last days. I had the odd idea to unpack my boxes, upload the unpacked folders and change the associated object to these folders instead so that my customers don't have to unpack. First I couldn't find the new objects, and then I've lost one of my products. Wonderful experience. Right, I am 5 SL years old, and I should have known better.

For me that's very true, I had a number of satellite shops, and I closed them all since they didn't even pay for their rent. And I just keep my main store because there are thousands of landmarks out there, and I don't want them to go nowhere, but even the main store doesn't pay off. However, marketplace works quite good for me.

My reasons: 1, I don't want to give someone a cut for nothing. 2, If there is an issue, I have to hunt down the original maker and try and get them to fix it. 3, 99% of the time the vendor is a lag monster and i have to stand there waiting for textures to load. 4, Resellers do nothing but promote staleness in SL. try your hand and create something!!! But, those are my opinions, and I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your venture. My brand has a franchise program too, and I am really happy that (for a 50% share) it's not me who has to hunt for promising shop locations, set them up, see if they work out, find new places and so on. I want to create stuff, and not waste my time with unproductive activity. So cheers to my franchisees!

If I wanted to I could find always a reason for a bad rating, no? Another one of my products was flagged for absolutely no reason (the official reason was keyword spam). I checked the keywords, and all of them were appropriate. So? Me and my alts could do this all day, but what would it say about me? Right, that's also my opnion. Reviews ARE the opinions of the buyer. I never hear merchants complain about good opinions, only bad ones. If a good opinion is allowed, a bad one should be too. Just because someone is also a merchant doesn't mean they are not entitled to a personal and valid opinion IF they bought the item legitimately for personal use. It is up to the reader to decide if they should pay attention to it. Still it's cheesy when you get a bad review by a merchant who sells related or similar products. I have sold over 1000 pieces of this specific item without complaints. And especially merchants should be aware that they first should contact the seller before they leave bad reviews.

  10. I think merchants should be very careful about flagging items of competitors, or giving bad reviews. If we all would adopt such ugly business attitudes, we're all going to lose, won't we? Just fed up a little...

How are your products and/or services created? Photoshop and inworld How are your products and/or services designed? Photoshop and inworld How did you get the shop, materials, etc.; i.e., where did the shop come from (did they build it themselves, buy it from someone else, etc.) Buld myself, buy good stuff How do you keep track of what you have for sale? I don't It's only SL. If ever the money is empty, I will close. How many employees do they have and what do those employees do? 0 How did you decide where to put your store(s)? Setup a shop, give it 4 weeks to pay its rent, if not: leave. What is the process of creating what you sell? If I'd know I would tell you... What methods do you use to determine the best way to layout your store? Keep it simple. How did you determine how to visually merchandise your products? If I like it, it's good. How do you market your business? (Both in world and in RL) Classifieds, SLM enhancements, blog. How do you think you differ or how are you similiar to a RL business? SL is totally different from an RL business. You only sell copies of your stuff. You don't earn a fortune, but you also have almost no risk.
  12. I've tried so many ads and wasted a lot of money until I found what is working: Offer something very special with a very good product picture for a relatively low price. But make sure that the price is high enough to pay the ad (with a L$ 10 offer you won't get it). Many buyers will also click through your store and buy other stuff too. The most expensive ads are the best (who would have guessed that? :matte-motes-big-grin-squint:).

  14. What about some improvements on marketplace statistics? Sorry to say, but currently the statistic reports are not much more than a first prototype. My very basic suggestions: Top selling products: Much more useful when related to a time period (last week, month, year).Top searched products: More useful when related to a time period (last day, week, month, year). It's most interesting which keywords were used to find a product. Since these keywords were already used in the product, listing them in the statistics wouldn't disclose much about the search function and competitor's keywords.Listing Enhancement Performance: How many clicks were actually leading to a sale? I would run many more ads if I could get instant confidence about the ones that are actually working ("working" means: earnings significantly higher than ad fees). Please let us delete obsolete entries.Overall, flat numbers are useless if you don't set them into relation to other numbers (that's what I would call statistics).
