I've heard they were used for ranking in search sometime ago but that has changed. So I'm wondering what they are for now? Just to show the owner of said box how many people like their place or is there another function? Do they help draw people to a location? Can anyone answer this question? I took ours in a while back. Yes it was used and yes it did show the box owner how many folks clicked on it. No, they did not draw folks to the box location. I decided that the emails from the box were just not a good measure to justify the prims and the "please vote" gesture any longer. Hope this helps answer your questions.

We would joke around on the old forums and in Second Life. Sometimes we would both buy a bottle of wine and log in to SL and have fun sipping wine and exploring this wonderful world but... Now that he has been promoted to the rank of “A” I guess he thinks that means Awesome or something like that, we never spend any time together anymore. He spends all his time in SL Answers and never hangs out on the forum anymore. He tells me he doesn't drink wine anymore and that joking around is for fools. He is so serious now that he has been promoted. I feel like I have lost a good friend. I don't know what to do, please help. :smileysad: Awwwwwwwww that sucks! He'll get over it, I'm sure. Have you tried logging in and sending him an IM or TP request?

  7. Henry Darkthief wrote: Why limit the number of threads a person can start? We now have an Ignore function. If you think someone is starting threads for the purpose of playing a ranking game, just click on their name and add them to your Ignore list. Then you won't see their threads/posts and nobody gets unfairly limited. Yes, unfairly. Some people do have legitimate issues and topics they want to discuss and some have more than 2 of those in a day. Yes, there are other threads about this, but they all go on and on about quality postings and rank and "cleaning up the forums" and other crud. I started this one to point out the Ignore function. Ignore only works with PM .. Limiting threads started by a new signup might stop the spammers or increase their signups *shrugs*

EDIT, and for gods sake get that message that says "Im too busy to help customers, send a note card to my "alt"...ummm, imean my "Business Manager", out of your profile, really people? Excellent advice The personal touch is always best. I know Mickey had a great post about this in the Jive forum. Maybe she will add to this too.:smileywink:

Thank you to all who let us know that there was a problem. We found and fixed the issue within 3 ½ hours after the deployment. Our goal is to avoid failures such as this one in the future. We have already identified several process changes which will help us prevent similar failures. Thanks for your patience! Brooke I just noticed that search is now "keywords" am I blind, blonde or both?:smileywink:

Ami Understood, you might consider using/paying someone else to do it for you. You could email them the text cards and they could do the SL work.:smileywink:

Caitlyn Gothly wrote: IMO they aren't tribute bands unless they sing live and even if they arent quite upto standard they deserve all the L$'s they get for trying :-) I think to just let their "look-a-like" AV stand there and play a guitar and expect tips for it is an insult really. Where is the talent in that? Cait It's Role Play, Caitlyn:smileywink: Strange thing is lots of Residents think that folks like U2 are actually In SL.:smileysurprised:

Crap Mariner wrote: Time for the first 800 pound gorilla in the room: Are unlicensed "tribute" bands performing for tips (and venue owners hosting them) live music, a musical performance, a building/animating/costuming challenge, or a copyright violation? Good question... depends on what a "venue" definition is to the RIAA/ASCAP/BMI. In the RW, venues pay fees to play music .. they are licensed to broadcast and pay fees to do so. DJs in RL that do weddings, parties, etc most likely do not pay these fees and maybe the venue that the event is at pays. I know when we brought Journey into SL we asked all the in-world "tributes" to stop doing Journey and they all did comply. There is an theory that since folks are "attending" at their home computers, it is no different than getting together at home with friends and listening to music together. If RIAA and the Music Industry chose to, I am sure they could stop SL Tribute Bands. In RL there are many Tribute Bands but they perform at venues who pay the fees. Slippery Slope, Crap:smileywink: And since most bands make their money from touring and selling merchandise, they could also file a "cease and desist" and t-shirts/pins/passes that did not have permission from the acts would be taken down. This is my take on the subject.
  14. Amiryu Hosoi wrote: Sure we can copy and past. It will work like this: make sure you have a desktop folder and SL running running side by side: write the description file and save the file to your HD -> Rightclick the saved file and choose rename -> Copy the filename in memory -> Switch to SL, open your inventory and create a new notecard -> Paste the file name -> Go back to your text editor and copy the description -> Close the textfile -> Go back to SL and paste the description in the notecard -> Save the notecard. Now, emagine we have around 1000+ notecards to process? Wouldn't it be way easier to just import textfiles just like we do with textures? Go into SL and choose bulk import -> select all text files you need to import and ckick okay. Done! I can emagine people with 10 items online don't need text import, but ! do! Ami It is a new revenue stream for LR too:smileywink: Personally I do the notecards in-world but mine are pretty standard and I edit an exsisting one [template] to fit the new products.

  18. Argus, I dont think thinking ahead of LL doing backroom work and simply waiting for LL to tell us with only weeks of a window to transation is considered SPINNING OUR WHEELS. Sadly not all of us havbe a full understanding of what Brooke's team is doing with AIS. Those in the Beta do know all the details and likely are under informed non disclosure to know whats coming our way. I am not one of them that is in the know and I am not going to sit around waiting. I need to protect my interests. Toy, that was my thought too. I already created the poor guy..lol he is a penniless, inventory less lacky who only comes in to ski jump once in a while. The work of changing permissions will be tedious. Too bad I can't just stuff the magic box into his mouth and let him digest it.:smileywink: Thanks for the acronym expansion. Agent Inventory Service it is then.
  19. TL:TQ = Too Long To Quote I really had no idea this was happening. :smileysurprised: Color me shocked and a non-gamer :womansurprised: ETA: From product description : rWARDER is also morally right, because it rewards anyone who leaves a reviews, positive or negative.
  20. Toy, until we know exactly how this is going to work we're spinning our wheels here. Heck the UUID for the items in the Magic Box is unique and calls for a sub-set of UUDIs below it. Perhaps they will port existing configurations of our products from the boxes? Who knows, certainly not me :smileywink: BTW.. what does AIS stand for? Asset Inventory Server?
  21. Technical Announcement March 08, 2011 The search capability has been updated. As part of this update, a percentage of items were not re-indexed for search. Search results may be incomplete until approximately noon SLT.
  22. Thanks for the update. Merchants, be sure when you look at your items that you select all possible ratings so you can see everything. Some ratings may have changed due to filters applied. [note: not reviews, but maturity ratings]
