  1. You know what works pretty well for this? Set the landing point a few meters off the floor/ground, then put a cone, just a couple of meters wide at the base, directly below that. Make the cone transparent and stick some phantom decoration over it if the cone looks weird. You could use llPushobject in a collision event (land ownership will override the no push flag), but people tend to associate being shoved like that with griefy behavior, so the passive approach might make for less drama.
  2. They don't save the .dae format and they don't need it. The SL mesh format contains all the information needed to get the models back into a 3D editor, and in fact there are already clients that can convert them back.
  3. That region edge bug is public, it has been discussed in office hours etc., No insider knowledge required.
  4. Yeah, the only practical use LL would have for the new setup is for leverage to sue a competing grid/service that tried to replicate SL regions wholesale, with multiple creators' stuff on it.
  5. The change LL made means that if you are getting charged by a group now, the group owner chose to do it that way. There was never any automatic notice about this, and not really a good way to do that; roles can have this property toggled on and off whenever the group owner feels like it.
  6. That is a privately owned shop on a private estate, so the land owners will be your best contact. They have the final say about who they allow on their land.
  7. Hi, yes, that is normal. A magic box (or any prim really) cannot have two items inside with the same name, so the numbers are added. Because of that, the quantity feature will not really work for you, you will have to replace the items after they are sold, or use more listings.
  8. Hi, yes, SL runs on Surface Pro. It does not get great SL performance, same as any machine with Intel HD graphics, but it should run. Make sure you get your graphics driver from Intel, the version supplied by MS for Surface Pro is known to have issues with SL. There are also known driver issues with SL and HD4000 on external monitors, so expect that to crash SL until Intel can fix their driver. Note that MS already announced Surface Pro 2, to be released about the end of October. MS is claiming better color fidelity and a 50% improvement in graphics performance with an update to HD 4400. The better speed may or may not carry over to SL, but the release is close enough that you may want to wait.
  9. If you think a mesh item coulod be a bought prefeb, you can see who made the mesh part. Usually these have a dummy root prim attached to show a different maker for the overall object. If you have a viewer that is not buggy, edit the piece, use edit linked parts to see what shows in the creator field. Some buggy viewers would show the creator field as empty for child prims. If you find that you have one of these viewers, rez the corset on the ground and use inspect instead.
  10. Hi, are you using a Mac? If so, the 3.6.7 (281236) maintenance viewer has both of those (MAIN-3134 and MAINT-3135) listed as fixed bugs. So, give that viewer a shot and see if things get better.
  11. These spam outfits just use brute force and land on working addresses by chance. The problem became so bad years ago, that mail servers had to stop supporting basic commands like EXPN and VRFY.
  12. A change in the detail slider that yields a maximum of 8 instead of 2 would come from installing a third party skin like Starlight. It makes lots of settings changes like this one, along with the appearance tweaks.
  13. If the HUD is modifiable (most AOs are so that animations can be added), then you can try right-click and edit, then Build>Scripts>Reset Scripts, and then Build>Scripts Set Scripts to Running to make sure they all are started up. If that does not clear up the problem, yes you will have to see what Akeyo can do for you, it's a closed system.

  15. Moved. On the texture tab, straight below the color square, the pulldown menu switches between "Materials" and "Media" modes. The "Choose..." button brings up a floater with all the old options.
  16. The SL classifiieds are shown to the entire web, and they have been for several years. The problems and limitations with those classifieds have been thoroughly discussed even in the SL forums, and those problems haven't changed in a long time. The numbers of people who use ad blockers is measurable, and not so hard when done by site operators. (Outside researchers don't have access to raw numbers and frequently complain that their job is difficult, but their estimates are not too far off from reality.) Simply, Adblock etc. aren't used by the majority anywhere. The size of the minority varies by locale, but the localized rates are known, as well as the types of sites where blocker users are most and least likely to go. Experienced advertisers will already be familiar with the landscape, and what ads really cost in the real world.
  17. You can use a non-graphical client, like Radegast, to get rid of it. Log in. pick inventory from the menu, click the Worn button on the right, and from that list you can right-click and detach. then you can go back to a normal viewer.
  18. That site used to work, it paid out and all. It abruptly broke several months ago when the site's owner disappeared, so the total keeps increasing, uncollectable. All the site ever collected was avatar names, so there wasn't much in the way of scam potential.
  19. Why would that be a surprise? There are still SL classifieds listed at over L$200K (US$800) a week.
  20. Yes, there are plenty of people who come here just for the content creation tools. LL has gone back to targeting this kind of user since Rodvik came on board.
  21. Yeah, materials switches on new style LI. It's not as wacky as it seems; the idea is to let old content work as it always did, but use the presence of new features to identify new/newly modified work that should play by the updated rules. Rez or creation date would have thrown in too many false positives and false negatives. Concave shapes make the physics engine cry, so dimpling, hollowing, etc. are just reflecting that. The convex hull gives Havok permission to ignore those headaches, and "none" on child prims is Havok's get out of jail free card, so we get rewarded for using them.
  22. If you need to pause sales on an item, edit the listing and change the item status from active to inactive. This preserves the sales history and reviews. You can then associate the fixed version with that listing, and change it back to active. The part about reviews is one of the main reasons why it's not OK to toitally delete a listing, then put it back. Another is that making a new listing pushes the item back into the newest products lists.
  23. It's not you, the maximum prim size allowed these days is 64 meters (used to be 10). If you really want larger prims, some were created full perm years ago when an exploit was discovered. They can still be found all over the place for free, most people call them megaprims. Those prims are annoying to work with, because any attempt to resize them will snap their dimensions down to 64m. Many of the older megaprims used prim torture (cutting, etc.) to achieve dimensions that weren't made before the exploit was closed, and consequently they can have weird physics effects. These old ones will usually have Gene Replacement listed as the creator, use them with care.

  25. File a support ticket right away. See I abandoned my land by mistake! The tier for a mainland 512 and a Linden Homes 512 are the same. If you have a premium account, you don't have to have a Linden Home, you can apply that 512 to regular mainland instead.
