  1. We been dealing with that stuff in Kuula for a while too. It got really heavy during the holidays. It took bloody ages to get a labbie over to clean up. So, I IM'd around and got that it was a bloody grid wide attack which overwhelmed support and led to a 45 minute wait. DX I don't think it's any one person, but, it's surely all the same script. It pretty much can't be stopped unless LL turns off all resident's ability to compile LSL/Mono. (._.)
  2. I first look at profiles and check rez dates. If they're less than 90 days old in SL, I dive right in. () Otherwise, for older accounts, I ask if they've come back from a break out of SL. If yes, I assume about a 90-day's worth of experience. Otherwise I'll simply not talk about appearance. () But!!! When I I'm on the subject of appearance; I start at the most glaring defect. Attachment gaps, hair prims poking through eyes, prim shoes with no shoe base on. Address it with "Did you know...?" And start nit-picking from there depending on their answer. ()y
  3. Heh... That question is so loaded that I can hear meth addicts getting jealous. ()
  4. I've had 3 bans, but, they were all personal issues between me and the land owner. () On the other hand, I've dished out a ton of bans while supporting NCI. Sometimes with a warning. Sometimes without. It's all conditional and we have documented guidelines to take into consideration. () Though, on my land, it's my rules. I owe you nothing. If I think your avatar smells funny, you'll hit my ban list. Do so much as annoy me and expect to get a flying lesson via eject. Though... You'll find it's quite tough to annoy me. ()y
  5. Since I've turned human I got taller. I've gone from 5'1" to 5'2". ()y
  6. It takes all kinds, I say. I recall facing people in SL Mentors who were leveraging the group title for a number of things. Be it an artificial sense of authority while in infohubs and welcome areas to two particular cases... One being a guy who considered handing landmarks out to every newcomer to land in his BDSM RP club and store as "help"... Another being someone who pretty much used the role to make it look like attending her L$500 per lesson "school" a Linden Lab endorsed function. (>_<) At the same time, I found some very genuine helpers. Scripters who are still operating today making free resources to help people expand their abilities in SL. People I still see at the infohubs giving out free advice. Unselfish volunteers, all the way. () If anything, SL seems to have this default state for anyone who wants to multitask that leads to an immediate conflict of interests. It's up to each person's scrouples to determine how that'll affect the reputation of their volunteering and of their business. () As for friends... I'm a bit confused. I'd consider a mentor/helper relationship different from a friendship. I can't imagine trying to sell anything to a friend. Give out freebies, yes... But anything that requires a money transaction doesn't feel like a friendship at all. But, that's just me. It takes all kinds. Maybe there are people with no desire to socialize and simply network for the sake of profit. (>_<)
  7. I'm considering a pair of pony boots in RL... It'll be fun to learn to walk in them. ()y
  8. There is no such thing as the FIC and anyone who continues to perpetuate that rumor will be taken care of. ()y
  9. Thinking about this logically... While it's reasonable to allow a relatively unlimited number of replies, I'd consider a rather strict limit of 2 new threads per 24 hours. Now, I know that it sounds like a huge tightening of the belt, but bear with me here.... () Help/Tutoria/Insrutcional threas require time to develop. If someone is pumping out more than 2 tutorials per day, I'd question the depth they've achieved. That or they copypasta'd the document from somewhere else. () On the other hand, questions take time to respond to and can be expanded upon within their own thread. If they're flooding the forum with questions, do we really believe they can manage the 4x flood of responses? () Spam bots... Heh, 'nuff said. (=_=) Off topic threads are fun, but with the membership roster of this forum and whatever collection of alts, even 2 posts per day is pretty darned liberal. =^-^= The idea has merit. Given a key complaint about these forums is the signal:noise ratio... Putting in limitations to mitigate the noise can't be a totally bad thing. ()y
  10. When I'm not wearing my own creations, I'm wearing Nomine. ()y
  11. My SL AV is totally me. It's the RL AV behind the keyboard that's forced to live in fantasy. ()y
  12. Friends, in a way, just happen. Making them is the easy part. It's like obeying the law of gravity. () Getting along with them so that they'll stick around... That's the hard part. (._.)
  13. I have pretty bad social anxiety problems and a considerably poor self image. Lots of times, when I think someone's starting to like me, I wind up spending a whole day verbally abusing myself in IMs with them. Part of me is convinced that I'm protecting them from drama later, so, it's difficult to quit. I scare a LOT of people away like that. (._.) My closest friends are aware of this and know when to tune me out. (>_<)
  14. Since I got mine I use it almost exclusively in replacement to alt-click zooming. This includes during building, panning around groups of people, monitoring students projects while teaching a building class, and shopping. () Larger builds have become far more easy by basically double-fisting it. SpaceNav in my left hand, Trackball in my right, and I can tear into any build with far more finesse. () And... When I'm saying "Larger" : http://snapz.me/i/482500.jpg : I mean it. ()y Also, using it to pan into my AV for lost attachments on the fly is fun. =^-^= As for setup... I run defaults but disable avatar motion. I use it strictly as a camera control. ()y
  15. I'm quite indifferent to all these numbers ranks and scores. It's nice to get them and a pretty good ego booster, but at the end of the day they really don't mean much. (>_<) I, for one, don't really like the idea of appearing "older" than anyone else. So, combine my indifference to numbers in general with a sense of distate about using numbers to indicate some sort of social rank and I can't really bring myself support this notion. (._.)
  16. I do and then some. () Went premium in 2008 to buy land close to someone I liked. I still have that 512. Then more recently, after I paid off my RL car, I got myself an estate island, grandfathered homestead, an 8192 in Zindra, a 112 in Brown, and another 512 roadside just outside the Ross infohub. () Why? Well... It seemed like a good idea at the time. =^-^=
  17. For the comedian on stage, a set routine, possibly even rehearsed before the show. Timing is very important and stumbling over words is a surefire way to lose attention. () For the venue, some form of feedback device from the audience. Maybe some suggested voice chat settings so that their laughter can be heard or some sort of "funny rating" HUD they can wear to tigger different preset laughtracks without resorting to their own gestures... Which you'd have zero control over the loudness and content. Even throw in some low scores to trigger disparaging groans for the bad jokes. () 5pm, you say? When I find the chance... I'm sooooo gonna see this. =^-^=
