  1. Murdoch Bekes wrote: Will this actually work even if they are filing a complaint? Linden Lab won't get involved in resident disputes. People can be reported, suspended, and terminated for violating the TOS/CS... ~NOT~ because someone is complaining about them. ()y
  2. If they're banning you from their land. Move on. () They have no power to ban you from SL. Mute them. () If they're harassing you, file an Abuse Report on them and ~they~ may be the ones to get banned. =^-^=
  3. A typist who embraces their appearance as an extension of themself. () Honestly. Find someone with a horrific shape and they'll either lie to you about how they look in RL or respond with "I want 2 lok sexy and mak the sex" ... Self respect is beautiful. ()y
  4. Look at Help >> About where ever you usually go. Check to see if the sim is running on a Magnum RC server. From what I hear, those sims will be first in line for main grid rollout of Mesh. They're already running Havok 2010. ()
  5. Having something made with a texture and having the actual source texture is two different things. So, at this point, no. (>_<) There is an illegal tool which can pull them, but, I think the 4th word in the sentence covers why I won't go into detail. ()y
  6. Is there a chance that the floating buildnig is no-scripts? Saying you have it makes me think it's your own land, but, may be a rental. I don't know. () Is this a totally vertical move? Or is it in another parcel? () There are a few possible factors, but, once we elimiate those the problem becomes very mysterious. ()
  7. Never have I seen such an intense grasping at straws.. Not only do you refer to adults you don't like as children. You're calling a cow a robot. Your desire simply put up a fight has truly blurred your vision. () Sure, fine, be tall... That's cool. Simply admit you're something like 6'10" or whatever. That's all. That's not "Adult". That's "Giant". If you like that, fine, more power to you. () But, let the to-scale adults be to-scale adults as well. If you can truly say that a busty 5'5" or whatever bipedal cow is a "child"... Well... Cuckoo is an understatement. (=_=) Really, get over yourself. There are people who believe 1-meter is 1-meter and suggest people follow that as a guideline to allow for more consistency and diversity in a virtual world where everything ~should~ be possible... Including monster avatars which tower over humans. (>_<) To quote my estate covenant: This sim is to be constructed to-scale. Meaning the meter will be honored as-is and "short" avatars will be considered proper adult height. Avatars taller than 1.8 meters in real prim height will be considered creatures of fantasy and lore and will NOT be used as reference in order to falsely accuse properly scaled avatars of being depictions of children. ()y
  8. You can host your own Open Sim server. But that won't connect you to the Second Life grid. As for Second Life, you'll never actually "own" the hardware your sim is residing on. There will always be some sort of server and support fee. ()y
  9. Pretty much no-can-do. Mainland sims are Linden estate and sim rating is an estate value. (>_<)
  10. SL has over 9000 other places to visit. The majority of which are resident owned. If some lesbians want to make their all gay girl bar, more power to them. They're going to typically attract people they like and eject anyone they don't. () And, yes, to many people mic is rude. You were being rude by asking people to do what they choose not to do. People CHOOSE not to use their mic. Everybody knows mics are cheap. It's not like they're in debt to you and owe you the sound of their voice. I don't use mic either. I have mics. In fact, the room I use SL from is practically a recording studio. But, I just don't use them. The rest of the time, I type. I like it that way. No excuses. No reason. I just type. Capiche? () Now, what makes you think they're fake lesbians? Any genuine lesbians I've been friends with have eventually 'proven' themselves over time. But, it takes kindness, trust, and care. Not frigg'n interrogation and "guydar". Many 'women-only' communities have women, who are not lesbians, but have a strong aversion to men. Either because of abuse, general anxieties, or whatever reason they may have. You, being a man, and belittling them for their choice; you are NOT improving their situation or outlook at all... (=_=) If you want to know something about someone just for the sake of knowing it, believe me, you'll be the last to get the truth. People are not your research subjects. Nobody is bound to cater to you and you alone. SL is by no means a digital 'breeding ground'. Not everyone is here to date everyone else. There are as many reasons to be in SL as there are reasons to stay alive for another day. Don't shoehorn such a broad and dynamic environment into a little bubble of some digital lonely hearts club. =^-^= Don't like where you're at? Go elsewhere. You've been to places where "everyone was nice". Stay in those places. That's how it works in RL. That's how it works in SL. ()y
  11. I'm 5'0" prim-height. It feels right for me. If someone wants to be 7'10", cool. Just don't be 7'10" and say you're "normal". () Also... "Realistic". I'd be happy if that were a banned word in SL. My goal is believable. I still shape myself as a chubby little ideal. () Though, I gotz no problem LULZing over the hyper-tall crowd. =^-^=
  12. It's the visual. And, not everyone reacts this way. For me, it just goes to show that many people are more immersed in SL than they're likely to believe. So, if you can imagine a scene in real life which would make people uncomfortable and protective; that same scene in SL will generally garner the same reaction. () That said, there are no TOS/CS restrictions against child avatars visiting any sim of any rating. The restriction which does exist is what I'll call the "Proximity Rule". It requres child avatars to stay away from sexual situations and not be seen around sex 'equipment'. SL residency tends to be hyper dilligent here and there are a few people who will AR kid avatars at the drop of a hat. That's the state of the culture, though. (._.) As for 'creeps'... Yeah, that's one of my running jokes. Second Life: A world where an 8 foot tall anthro-furry wearing a gimp hood, **bleep** sling, and a drool dripping ball gag can call a 9 year old girl "creepy". It's a silly thing. Haters gonna hate. =^-^= That said. The general age notion of child avatars are tweens. Depending on relative scale a non-animation-deformed child avatar can appear to be as young as 6 to 8 years old. Limitations to the shape pretty much prevent going 'younger' and is relegated to prim avatars and RP decisions. Really, a child avatar is pretty much a "child" to 12 as 13 is already a teen age. Though, technically, can still be percieved as a non-teen child up to 15. All of which would cause people great discomfort if seen in a setting where a RL child would be in danger. So making the comparison of 16 year olds, which are legally above the age of consent in most U.S. states, to appearing 15 or younger is quite silly. (>_<) Finally... Their land, their rules. Yes, child avatars are free to visit any and every Linden owned location. People can say all they want, it doesn't amount to anything. In return, don't be a jerk about it. Mute and ignore people making up their own rules. Though, if you find yourself in a hostile environment, I'd strongly suggest simply going elsewhere. There are over 9000 other places to visit in SL. A bad day at a welcome area is a good day to explore the rest. () The remainder of the grid is private property. At that point, it comes down to the land owner. Their land, their rules. Land owners have no obligation to cater to anyone. If a land owner has decided there is an avatar type they don't want around, *POOF* that avatar type be gone. Your "right" to be there is no greater than my right to break into your RL home. ()y
  13. In my over 3 years in SL, I've never actually visited a "rape sim". I'm sure they exist, but, I don't seek them out. I do believe CoLA included forced sex, but, it also included angels, demons, mutants, and lycans. () Also... Famtasy|Reality << There's a line. Find it. () Personally, I visit dollification places. The RP strongly opposes male dominance. Some to the point of banning male AVs. The rest crossdress them as maids and relegate their duties to giving foot massages and mopping up after the more "drippy" dolls. ()y
  14. I have seen the Labbies act upon a false AR in a couple of events. It has happened to me once, long ago. I was banned under a pretty extreme accusation and simply rose high hell, asking about how my actions were percieved as the violation I was banned for. Lacking a reasonable response, the Labbies backpedaled and apologised for the error. ()y
  15. I enable "Plain Text" mode in chat preferences to get rid of the odd line spacing. () As for the icons, I like them. Especially the way the cluster in the lower right of the window. They're compact and clearly distinct enough for me to know which is which. The orange dot appears to show me which group/IM has chatted since I last looked at the window. To me, they're perfectly visible and very functional, even at my usual UI scale setting of 0.90. () It's clear that you don't like it, but, that doesn't make it bad or childish by any degree. I like it and appreciate nearly every detail in it. Your sweeping assumptions about what's useful or not don't apply to everyone. Clearly, not me. I quite like the V2 UI. You'd have to completely remove me from SL for your statements to carry much validity. ()y
  16. Can it be considered stripping if I've never worn clothes in the first place? =^-^=
  17. Attachments don't collide. You'll need to fire a ray or a short range bullet to identify who has been attacked. ()y
  18. Renting land from another resident is simply begging to ruin the fun. (>_<) That said, I own my land and pay the Labbies for it. The only way I can loose is if the whole bloody grid shuts down. () Then again... I ruin the fun for everyone I meet, so, maybe it's a Yin-Yang thing. ()y
  19. Sion Pearl wrote: It's one radio button to turn the bloody thing off, fortunately. Oh, cool beans, that. () I'll eventually still weigh it in. ()
  20. At this point, I consider the 2.7.4 Estate Side Windlight project client to be the most stable, useful, and fastest client for my needs. I even tought a class in it last night which means managing prims, people, notecards, and a "reader" HUD all at once. For that purpose, V2 remains my favorite UI. () It falls short come picture taking time, though... For that I use Kirsten's S21(8). While it doesn't deliver the FPS and general stability I observe in 2.7.4, it can take giant and beautiful screenshots, one after another. () I liked Emerald while it was at as the most tolerable adaptation of the old SL UI. Given recent changes, drama, and eventually the team turning against themselves and eventually just restart all over again. Personally, they lost their star programmers in the drama so, Phoenix and Firestorm are a shy attempt to replicate what's been done before. Now that I hear that Firestorm fore-ported the pie menu, I've lost all interest. ()y
