  1. I hope you realize that many business operate this way. Pay your bills or lose your service. If your inability to manage your charge accounts leads to this kind of trouble, imagine if it were a car, a cell phone, an apartment, financing a refridgerator... and so on. (=_=) Just because you refused to read the terms and pay attention to your account status, doesn't make it LL's fault and doesn't degrade the value of a premium account at all. (=_=) Chalk this down as a lesson in financial responsibility and learn from it so that you don't repeat an event like this with any other service. ()y
  2. Truly. I have a Jira addressing the fact that Prim Slice is missing from LSL parameters. The function exists in SL. But, it's missing from LSL. So, there are a few tools that simply don't work because of it. Yet, it just sits there being debated... Even AFTER Labbies have contributed to the topic. (._.)
  3. From the looks of things, it's because it's viewed as a 'trivial new feature' that's awaiting review. () Post some commentary there, vote for, and add a watch to the request. Encourage your friends and anyone else who might be interested to do the same. In spite of how cynical people can be about the Jira, I've seen changes because of it. () But it needs scope. A few comments by core contributors can only achieve so much. Show the Labbies how many people want something and they may re-consider a priority or two. Bringing it to the forum will really mostly draw residents, not Labbies. ()y
  4. Your little friend lied about his age when signing up to SL. So, the built in protections that block him from Moderate(Mature) and Adult land are missing. As it is, he's violating the TOS. I don't know about you, but, I refuse to be some ignorant parent's freebie online babysitter. I would AR him, friends or not, the moment his admission comes in text chat. (>_<) The sims are designed to keep teens in General(PG) land. Let the technology do the work as intended. Waving your finger and saying "No no naughty stuff" does NOT provide the protections necessary for the teen AND the adults who may associate with him. (>_<)
  5. Openspace is a very viable option for boating enthusiasts who require a near absolute minimum in prims and just enough script time to allow for vehicle scripts and the occasional light house. () SL is a luxury. With each sim type, you're moving from one luxury to the next. () Let's say there's a store owner. It's a high traffic store with lots of other attractions like lucky chairs. Obviously a full sim is necessary. But, the sim/store owner wants their home near the store. Not wanting to deal with the daily grind and lag of the store sim, this person wants a second adjacent sim. It'll be a personal, low-use, residence. A place to call home. A "homestead" for lack of a better word. =^-^= Now this person wants to build an art installation. It requires a whole sim, but, doesn't expect to use a ton of prims and almost nothing is scripted. A second homestead is in order. () But, our store/sim/homstead owner is also a sailing enthusiast and wants a lot of space that's wide open to get the feel of being out in the sea. Nothing will be built there. It'll be left quite clear. Just open space... Well, a couple openspace sims will do just fine. () Are you saying you want this store/sim owner to buy FIVE FULL SIMS? () Sorry. Not seeing the hoax. I like my full sim. I have 3 sims worth of content on it thanks to careful building practices. I also like my homestead. It technically belongs to a friend who needs someone with an estate to carry it. They have it set up with a quaint little village with a small store and cafe. And, hey, keep your friends close, right? Though, while I have no need or want for an openspace, I'm sure someone will. So, no skin off my back. I just won't buy one. Easy. () So silly. =^-^=
  6. It makes perfect sense for someone who wants a "full sim" amount of land without necessarily using up all the prims. For some people, prims aren't even half the equasion. Location, environment, and intended use are all factors. ()y
  7. Caps are not specifically about IMs. They also include inventory transfers and group notices. Early on I remember doing the whole "send me a notecard" thing until notecards capped and all I ever got was an Email with the notecard name and no info. (>_<) Since then, I request direct IMs, online or offline. I have all inworld messages go to Email. Replying to the Email will reply via IM. So, messages capped or not, I can still communicate. () For specific and critical inventory transactions, I rely on an alt with an empty friends list and not subject to a stream of contacts and IMs. () As far as I know, nothing has changed. My volume of contacts and transfers have been steady and my caps happen as predictably as usual. So, I don't believe your initial assumption is well measured. ()
  8. 2 hour autoreturn has always worked for me. ()y
  9. Folder, subfolders, duplicates, and even outfit links. They all add up. () Finding duplicates is somewhat easy. You can search your inventory for a matching name. Navigating subfolders, no so easy. (>_<) In the end, don't worry way too much about it. I have nearly 50k in my inventory. I know people with more. ()y
  10. In my point of view, it never happened. My two mainland stores are both on obscure 512 parcels and rarely if not never had a problem landing page 1, even with competition like Curious Kitties and Dilly Dolls. ()
  11. I do NOT want to meet the typist beind the W-cup hermaphrodite latex demoness. (=_=)y
  12. My guess is that you may be doing the same thing I'm doing. Maybe we must repent of our sinful ways in order to receive the properly painful griefings people speak of. =^-^=
  13. I'm yet to understand the purpose for the shopping cart at all. (>_<) Retail websites have a shopping cart function to avoid multiple charge fees by the credit card banks and to consolidate entire orders into one shipping arrangement. (=_=) With the Marketplace being in a L$ economy and no physical shipping at all, it's little more than a waste of clicks. (=_=) Marketplace purchases requiring more than the click of a single button is simply bad UI design. (>_<)
  14. Check out Brazen Women. Beebo has a collection of "Classic Lines" skins of various ages. ()y
  15. Does anyone else feel totally weirded out that "Ahern" and "Friendly" has been used in the same sentence? ()
  16. Inworld, look fo Carl Metropolitan. He has assembled and still maintains the best continent maps for SL. If I remember right, he offers them for free in his art store. ()y
  17. Blender does have a grid system. It's completely relative, so there are no actual units. But, you can say that 1 grid point is a millimeter and it's mission accompllished, in regard to the sizing and scale of your objects. () In View >> View Properties you can determine the grid spacing by units. I personally use a grid spacing of 0.010 to match the "smallest prim" in SL. () Then, when you have an object selected in Object Mode, you can pick Object >> Transform Properties. The Dim X, Dim Y, Dim Z numbers are your relative end points for the existing objects. To get an idea of what your sculpt will look like, unaltered on a 'square' prim, set the numbers all equal. It'll warp and resize to give you an accurate view of what it will look like upon upload and apply. () Finally, if you set Dim X, Y, Z to 2.55 (taking into account the 0.010 grid spacing) you can then hit Shift+S for the snap menu and pick Selection -> Grid. Do this in Edit Mode with all vertices selected and they will snap to the nearest location within the available resolution of a sculpt map. If it distorts now, it ~will~ distort when imported to SL. Fine tuning a detailed build will lead to a far more stable baking process with far fewer rounding errors and the closest Blender -> SL conversion possible. =^-^= That is... Until Mesh comes. ()y
  18. For my closest friends, we've shared Skype and Gtalk names along with Email addresses. I have a few friends on Steam. Then there's the forums. Finally Plurk, Twitter, and my own blog / web site fill in for the people I don't directly contact often. ()y
  19. I did a quick search and found this >> http://world.secondlife.com/place/28a597e8-bb5b-00e7-a79c-94ca4ee45623 () There's also a special "Teen only" set of islands that Linden Lab set aside. I think it's 4 sims named after a monkey or something. I tried searching for info on it just now. I remember the initial name having a bit of controversy... I just can't find it now. (>_<)
  20. Serunus wrote: Thanks Imnotgoing! Do you remember where inworld did you run into them? As part of my project I have to interview some "police" or "security" groups. Generally wait for a griefing in an infohub, Korea is where I've most commonly seen them. Look for the shiny superhero outfits. Otherwise, they find you. Own land in a popular area, blog about grid politics, or get involved in nearly any inworld educational venture and they're bound to be on your butt. () Also, consider getting involved in a community group. LL used to have "office hour" events where Labbies would be present for Q&A, chit chat, or gathering information about issues... The office hours have been replaced by community groups. I'm still not quite sure how this new system works, but, there's almost always bound to be one in the crowd. () Finally... Police uniforms on non-RP mainland sims. Usually of low quality because they need them to be free and full perms to give to recruits. They used to spend a lot of time in the Bay City area, but, the eventually got chased out by the land owners there who considered them little more than a headache. ()y AH!!! Almost forgot! EDIT: Look for "Second Life Police" videos on Youtube. Half the videos are griefers and the other half are the "honest" police-ish getting griefed. =^-^=
  21. A little controversy goes a long way. ()y That said, I change outfits up to 4 times a day. Regardless, most people know an Immy when they see one. =^-^=
  22. I'm not a nice person, so it remains rather short on its own. ()y
  23. The button won't appear unless the text loads. The text won't appear unless the SLPlugin.exe webkit plugin is working. () From the sounds of things, you have the same problem I have. Webkit is broken. (._.) At this point, the problem is probably related to a poor Flash or Quicktime install. If not that, firewall or malware protection suite is blocking it. (>_<) In the end, if you can't find a quick solution, consider downloading the Radegast client as found in the TPV list. It presents the TOS as plain text and doesn't rely on the Webkit plugin to display the text or activate the "Accept" button. () It's what I had to do for myself and all my alts. DX
  24. It's often wise to reinforce that you're discussing "child avatars" and not "children" when posting messages to the community at large. At the same time, it's reasonable for the community at large to understand that the child avatar community is in general a regressive roleplay community of legal adults engaging in youthful situations. () Of course, your mileage may vary. Intolerance is rarely tough to find on the internet. () That said, don't forget there's a Second Life Children group available inworld which is a great resource for child AVs to communicate and discover what's to be found. ()y
