  1. Since the last update of the default LL viewer my environment settings (windlight) start with 'use region settings'. I change it to 'customize my environment' in order to use my windlight settings but it reverts to use region settings after every restart. Anyone having the same problem?
  2. First off, many new residents have the exact same home as your friend. Take a walk around your friend's Linden home and you will see that his neighbors houses look similar. The picture may not be in his house unless you recognize the furniture and decorations specific to his home. Second, a picture in a profile does not show if there is any kind of relationship going on. You should check for any incriminating text or behavior from your friend. Thirdly, it could be nothing and your excessive distrust may be the only cause for your relationship to fail. Try not to jump to conclusions.
  3. The PS4 is made with Kevlar and the bullets would bounce off.
  4. Like Scmooples, I only know it from the movie with the very young Mel Gibson.
  5. You can plug a USB keyboard or pair a Bluetooth keyboard into the PS4.
  6. Nice find! I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions though. It could be an internal name or some other project not related to the new SL. I'm not familiar as to the significance of the name Sansara to LL. I think a mainland area is named Sansara. It doesn't look like they own the websites yet.
  7. I have to revise my avatar cost. My skin only sells for L$200 now so that makes my avatar cost about L$800.
  8. Hmm. Zero Style hair is about $300. Mother goose skin is $500? Pants were part of a set at $300 from Last Call. I think my AO has a walk anim that was free. Everything else is handmade. So $1100 would be my guess.
  9. I too recommend a desktop. SL tends to bring non-gamers into the world of 3d gaming requirements. Most non-gamers have regular non-gaming laptops and tend to want what they have but upgraded for 3d. The main difference between a gaming laptop and standard laptop is the graphics card. 3d graphics cards draw a lot of power and create a lot of heat which are both difficult to accommodate in a laptop. To see the better graphics you also need a bigger screen. Heat, power, and a large monitor are all better handled by a desktop. Want to still have a laptop? Keep your old one. Optimize it. Clean out the old software. Then buy a desktop purely for gaming. No shame in owning two computers. Plus, if one breaks down, you use the other to search the internet and download fixes. For buying, try newegg.com, eBay and Craigslist
  10. Two things I know can cause this. An animation can offset your avatar while it is running. Running another equal or higher priority animation will stop the offending animation. Thus sounds like your issue. The other cause is the hover height which is in the avatar shape settings. SL saves a bunch of settings files separately from the main program files. I think in the user folders in Windows. I would first try adjusting any attachments or huds with anims, changing shapes and wearing a default avatar. If that doesn't work, delete all the user files.
  11. There is really no way to make a large amount of money in SL without a lot of time, work, or talent. If there was, there would be a million people in SL exploiting it. Maybe get no fee credit card and pay off the balance every month so you don't pay any interest? Plus, you build up your credit score.
  12. I like that idea to be able to completely hide yourself from everyone. I also don't like Facebook too. Actually, I mentioned Facebook to suggest if maybe elements of its design could be used in the SL profile. Are there any design elements from any other social software that you'd like to see in SL? Perhaps if we can tag locations we go to and want to share that with friends? More tha just placing the landmark in your picks but actually showing how often you are visiting?
  13. Let's have a general discussion of the SL profile that comes up when you right click a resident. Is it good enough? Does it present too much or too little information? What would be the ideal design for it? Let's also discuss how friends are handled in SL. Should they be more visible in the profile? Can friends be managed in the system in a better way? In the age of Facebook, is the SL system outdated? Lets put our ideas into words.
  14. Let's get into a hypothetical worse case scenario where Resident-A has a pleasant conversation with Resident-B on a sim. Resident-B is a regular on the sim but with loose morals. Resident-B complains to the sim owner that he was harassed by Resident-A. The sim owner, not able to ask for chat-logs, bans Resident-A based on their trust of the regular visitor Resident-B. Resident-A goes to LindenLab and asks them to check his chat logs with Resident-B to show that he did not harass anyone and was wrongfully banned by the sim owner. LL will not do anything. They will not get involved even if a sim owner has banned someone wrongfully.
  15. Yes, I can totally see SL having a free day! Especially if LL just foots the bill! Buyers win because they get free marketplace items. Sellers win because LL still pays them for the products. LL wins because somehow this will retain residents or get new people to join! :smileyvery-happy: It's a win, win, win situation!
  16. You can get a pair of Slink feet and then buy stockings that have appliers for Slink feet. You will need to get shoes that work w/ that brand. There are other feet available like Gos feet. You probably want to take a look at what is available for each brand.
  17. Anyone get something nice at the skin fair? I was playing with the mesh heads that are anime styled. Maybe I will get it just for fun. I was amazed at the long list of appliers that the different shops supported. SL is way too complicated.
  18. Stifling creative avatars is not the reason for trying to make SL2 avatar creation better. When you have obviously normal looking avatars walking around that are 9 feet tall... that's a problem. It works both ways. Normal people will all fall into standard human sized heights while people who want to look different will actually look different. I mean, do we really see any taller than average avatars? Let's say you want to make a towering Shaquille O'neal avatar. Good luck with that because he's just going to look like an average person w/ all the oversized normal people walking around. We need to create 'normal' in order to have deviation.
  19. Yeah, it's $600 or more that will prompt LL to send the IRS a 1099-misc. You'll get a copy too. $2,000 in a year will make LL send a 1099-k. Since LL doesn't have your tax information beforehand, they won't ask you for anything until they cross that threshold of payments.
  20. I wouldn't want draconian rules or height enforcers. I think just having a well thought out design in the avatar and building tools could gently coerce people into having a reasonable height and standard sized builds. I think there are people in-world who are trying to make a normal avatar but are getting the size wrong because of the faulty avatar creation design. Having a clearly visible height listed in the avatar creation tool is a start. Maybe a warning when you get too tall or too short during creation. Perhaps the tool can force people who are very tall to look lanky or very short to look child-like. I just don't want to see a normal looking avatar that is too tall or too short. With certain heights comes certain physical traits just as it is in real life. A smarter camera view would certainly help. Maybe having that, plus normal height avatars would encourage a more standard sizing in builds. Perhaps if LL provides a standard avatar sized mannequin and encourages everyone to build to one size? Ebbe did mention they are starting with the expert builders. I hope those builders can lead by example and provide correct life sized builds from the very start. Any more ideas?
  21. I've been thinking about the new SL coming out and in the interest of general discussion I would like to hear your thoughts on avatar and buildings/furniture sizing. In the current SL, we have oversizing issues caused by faults in the client and human nature. What do you think will be needed in the new SL that would keep avatar sizes in the normal range and what would be needed so that homes, furniture, etc also be kept in check?
