  1. You would need a flask attached to your waist, a flask attached to your hand and a glass attached to your other hand. At first, only the waist flask is visible and hand attachments are invisible. Second, a script runs a flask grabbing animation that makes the waist flask invisible and the hand flask and glass visible. Third, the script runs a pouring animation. To show liquid pouring into the glass you could, 1. Not show it and let people assume it, 2. start a particle source to resemble liquid bring poured, 3. have invisible prims that look like liquid in flask and glass that turn visible on pour. Fourth, the script runs animation to return flask and makes hand flask invisible and waist flask visible. Fifth, script runs animation to drink from glass and turns it invisible. This is one way. There are many other ways to do it.
  2. I would just file a report without confronting them (just in case they're the type to come back with a new avatar to annoy you). Reporting someone doesn't automatically get them banned. Someone who works for LL will come out to make a judgement and do what is appropriate. They might ban or they might not. Definitely be the first person to make the report so that all the facts are reported correctly.
  3. I honestly didn't know if I used advanced lighting or not. I checked my settings and it looks like I do! I like shadows and you can't have shadows without the advanced lighting.
  4. I expect the revenue model of the new SL to be similar to the old SL where you can live for free but everything from goods, land and services will cost something. Merchants and land owners would still have to invest in their business. I don't think the new SL will offer only small improvements or be hobbled by a need for mobile usage. But, if that is ever the case, I would think that the revenue model would still be the same and would not expect any kind of subscription or initial payment. I honestly don't know why LL invested in High Fidelity. It seems like a dumb move for companies that are supposed to be competitors.
  5. I'd be more impressed if it was one pixel per Sim.
  6. Don't think too much. Just answer! I tried on some new mesh clothes that I just purchased with my alt. Then I logged out.
  7. Why would an advertiser want to pay for an ad that get seen for the 2-3 seconds it takes to teleport? The only way the ad would work is if LL were to increase the TP time. I'm sure everyone would appreciate that. Oh, It's Saturday! I guess this discussion has run it's course.
  8. I don't know how effective the ads would be. Teleports are fast and I zone out or switch to a browser (to the forums) until I am at the new location. How much money could they possibly make on such a thing? Would it even pay for itself or for a new developer or do you think throwing money at an existing LL developer would actually get measurable improvement?
  9. For me, it was when I was able to take an idea that existed solely in my head and create it in-world. If your idea was two cubes linked together then congrats.
  10. What is the current experience for new users? The volcano and the talking parrot?
  11. The high learning curve has been cited many times as the reason why many new people leave. Fixes have been tried in the past but... what you see now is what you get.
  12. Mesh never fits correctly. Regular mesh clothes are fine but underwear requires that you make your body match the specific sizes required. System undies please.
  13. Does the sim have existing stores? Does it look like they have spaces available for rent? Do they have any stores at all? If your store idea hinges completely on making a store on a particular sim, then checking w/ that sim's owner/manager is the first thing to do. If you can build this store on any sim, or are considering selling on the marketplace then you might want to explore making your products first. You may need linden$ to upload textures, animation, sounds, etc and it may take some time to create the products. You may want to pre-design your store as well. Just go to any public sandbox that allows scripting and try making some vendor signs. Maybe design some shelves. You also want to test your vendor signs and make sure that the permissions for your products are set up correctly. You may want to create a 2nd avatar to 'buy' your products and see exactly what your customer will get.
  14. Never experienced that myself but I was thinking it was because you were choosing a really large photo size. I found that if you check the box 'freeze frame' in your camera options, this causes the problem you are describing. Go to the top menu at world->snapshot or press ctrl-shift-s and uncheck the 'freeze frame' box. If you ever find yourself in the same situation, just press ctrl-shift-s to bring up the camera controls.
  15. 1. Turn off your AO (animation overrider) and test the bar again. Need to test if your AO is causing the poses to stop. 2. Add a loop in your script that replays the pose animation over and over on a timer. Assuming you have poses that are not looping animations. 3. Try finding poses that are looping animations. These should not stop until the avatar unsits or your script stops the animation.
  16. I think everyone here is confused. The OP is a girl because she is asking what type of skin is good for girls.
  17. I was walking in a sim once and noticed that the heart icon popped up. As I walked down the road a swarm of bees attacked me and stung me to death! It was some kind of bee security system.
  18. The big houses happened because LL decided to make a huge allowable range for avatar height and left it up to the residents to choose what height they wanted. People are also free to choose how big or small their furniture and houses will be. Unfortunately, the end result is that you look like a leprechaun in other people's houses.
  19. I would try to update the graphics card driver. Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 8240 http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
  20. I think the argument would be better if Blue Mars was used instead of Sony home. Blue Mars was intended to be a world built by creators using only professional tools and like in Field of Dreams the residents would come. Blue Mars "died" of course. I read an interview with Blizzard developers who said they made World of Warcraft look clunky because they knew that a very large majority of users did not have the best graphics cards and making a game too high end would have prevented the establishment of an mmo dominating user base. Many other MMOs came out trying to be a high end game experience and they "died". Deliberate simplicity is a good strategy but a world also needs to be well designed. SL in its simpler beginnings was accused of having a high learning curve. Minecraft was so well designed that even a child could master it. I guess the main point I'm trying to explain is that instead of going from SL's complexity and bad design to Minecraft's simplicity and good design, LL should be going for complexity and good design.
  21. SL is nothing like Sony Home. Sony Home was purely content made by the company. SL is not like Minecraft either. Minecraft is designed a whole lot better. That's why it was sold for billions.
