Blutooth help please :)
Bree Giffen replied to Alura1979's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
Under the preferences->sound & media there is an 'input/output devices' button that brings up your choice of input (mic) and output (speakers). Try changing those settings if you can. I've heard that you can't use your bluetooth as both mic and headphones at the same time. -
Sansar Mention in Variety...
Bree Giffen replied to KarenMichelle Lane's topic in General Discussion Forum
Do you remember when LL had a lot of companies making sims in SL? Adidas had their ridiculously primmy shoe. Nissan had a nice flying car. It sounds like Sansar is catering to these companies/institutions where they can build a VR enabled world that can link back to their own website. It sounds like there might be controls built in to moderate the experience, eg. not allowing teleports to other sims, PG-only avatars, and such. I don't think Sansar is going to be catering to real-world companies or schools completely. I think we're still going to see SL clothing stores, and clubs, and homes and everything else. It's just not that obvious in an article placed in an entertainment industry magazine. -
Someone I met in SL thinks he knows my RL age
Bree Giffen replied to Jessica Lowell's topic in General Discussion Forum
It could be something you said in chat. Perhaps a reference to an obscure 60s band or using the popular slang of a particular era. Mr Burns from the Simpsons is a good example of this. -
That sounds interesting. Too bad it shows in the middle of the day when I'm at work. I hope we see a rise in new hypochondriacs err residents. I've never really watched this Dr Phil before. Are his legs that long in real life?

Gesture Sound distances - getting mixed answers
Bree Giffen replied to Zazaaji's topic in General Discussion Forum
A good way to answer the OP's question is to use a 2nd avatar or Alt and perform tests using two viewers. Run a gesture on one avatar and move your other avatar until you find the distance that the gesture sound stops being audible. -
Reading profiles is not being pervy at all. No way! Trying to cam into their house when you see two green dots close together? Okay, a little bit pervy. I once had an alt's profile filled with a long description of things I liked in RL and SL. At the very bottom I wrote "if you guess my favorite animal I'll take off all my clothes'. You would have to scroll down the profile to read it. Every conversation began with, " Do you like rabbits?" Or some other cute animal.

Just tell them you've never er seen their boring profile and that they are totally mistaken or are liars. If they give you some made up time and date you throw it back and say they are making stuff up and to leave you alone. What nimrod cares so much about someone looking at their profiles to not only track people but to message them as well?

When I heard that Yadni's Junkyard closed I attached my Yadni emoter HUD and set it to the sad emote.

I was looking into getting a new parcel and I did the usual teleport from sim to sim while looking at the neighboring parcels both on the ground and in the sky. What struck me was the abundance of what appeared to be dance floors or dance clubs scattered throughout the sims with lasers, spotlights, dj booths and everything. These dancing establishments were always empty but I suspect that they were more for private use than actual attempts to start up a business. I don't have anything against dance floors of course but after seeing them on nearly every sim I visited makes me curious. So what is going on? Is there some deep unfulfilled need for dance floors in real life and SL finally makes the dream come true? Is it just that building a dance floor is a simple way to create a social atmosphere for guests?

Having an issue with stalking on sl

Are the alts all brand new? Maybe make a 30 day age requirement to enter. Unless that affects your other customers. -
To create a new account or resurrect an old one?
Bree Giffen replied to Cave Rufus's topic in General Discussion Forum
Either account should be fine. I've seen several people who have rejoined SL after leaving years ago SL goes through so many changes that everyone falls behind if they leave for just a few months. -
Newbies give out friend requests without even talking to you. The proper response is to not accept it and explain to the resident that the friend request should be given out to people you've actually made friends with.

Sometimes they will walk around or into you when having a conversation because they don't know how to move the camera around. They used to also have boxes on their heads.

The ONE Unmakable item on SL
Bree Giffen replied to JamieThunder's topic in General Discussion Forum
I just tried making the mirror from water in a sandbox and it looks acceptable. The reflection is very pixelated but still detailed. The code to render reflections is there. I wonder why it cant just be added for mirrors. On an aside, there aren't many sandboxes with water. Plum is the only one I know. Azure islands had one before too. -
I don't think LL should ban confederate flags. Look at what is cited as examples of taking down the flag, Target, Walmart, Amazon,. These are corporate entities whose moral compass is based on preserving their public image. The media does not mention of individuals taking down the flag. It is a hollow gesture to allow the corporation to pat itself on the back. Taking down flag products does nothing to change the thoughts or behavior af a racist person.

The ONE Unmakable item on SL
Bree Giffen replied to JamieThunder's topic in General Discussion Forum
We do have shadows. You need to turn it on in your graphics settings. It requires a graphics card that can support it. There are shadows from the sun and moon and shadows from prim spotlights. -
Swift's blog post threw a wrench into the carefully crafted image of Apple as an innovative and good hearted corporation. Apple knew that the free streaming of Apple Music was on the backs of the artists. That was their soulless little trick and they got called out on it. Apple is probably pretty mad at Swift for making them lose millions in order to protect their image. Let's not forget that the UK label for Adele and other UK artists also pulled their support for Apple.

CAMPAIGN FOR A FAIR WAGE ON SL
Bree Giffen replied to clivesteel's topic in General Discussion Forum
Dear OP, start a union and get all the DJ's to join you. If club owners get the same payment request from every DJ then they might just agree. If it doesn't work out you could write a book about it, "the rise and fall of unionization in second life". -
My lurkerness is 50:1. There are many reason to read but not reply. The thread could be a question that I don't know how to answer or already answered. It could be a survey request. The thread could be too juvenile or flame bait by a troll. It could be about a product I don't use like Firestorm. Plus, a high post count doesn't necessarily mean a high quality of posts. An empty can rattles the most as the saying goes.

[Help] Building a Custom PC
Bree Giffen replied to Gharran Azemus's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
I managed to build a system on Newegg for $500 but then I saw that you don't need an OS. So a $400 computer has an Intel i3, an Nvidia 760ti, 4gb of ram and a 160gb sata hard drive. A 485w power supply, a basic motherbaord that supports everything and a tower case. Where to put the extra $100 that I saved for the OS? I'd look at a better processor or video card. -
There are a couple of huds for the Slink feet. Look for the hud that says 'utilities' which should have the stockings on/off button. As for the gridlines, I'm not sure where those come from.
