  1. Well, you can stick to regions that don't have Server Side Baking enabled yet. So far, it's only on the LeTigre and Magnum server channels, I think. But that won't save you for long, SSB is being rolled out to more servers each week. It would be helpful (though not to you, immediately) if you could collect details on the crashes you're seeing and file Bug Reports on them. Sorry...perhaps someone else will have a more productive suggestion!
  2. Try using a different web browser. The SL site doesn't like Internet Explorer much. Firefox works well for most people.
  3. This question is SOOOO tempting to respond to with a spate of puns. But that would just be Wong.
  4. If you mean your profile, in world or on https://mysecondlife.com, no. Anyone can see your profile, although you can leave it blank or only show groups you choose. If you mean your profile FEED on mysecondlife, then again no. You can set privacy to Nobody, SL residents only, Friends only, or Everyone. If you merely want to keep from being bothered by a certain person, it's probably better to Mute (Block) them. They can still see your profile, but you will not be bothered by them since you won't receive any messages they send.
  5. You can also block access to accounts under 30 days old directly, in the About Land settings. No device required.
  6. This was not a Linden Lab employee. All of them have the last name "Linden", in their USER NAME, not the display name. If LL takes a region off line, they don't "send someone" to do it. They just throw a switch. Poof! The proper response to this person is to 1) Abuse Report them for harrassment and impersonating a Linden; 2) Use the Mute or Block function to shut them up; 3) Eject and ban them from your land. Problem solved.
  7. But our service providers have no problem with us making payments to them! Kindle, Verizon Store, Google Play, etc. Plus I can usually use my phone to buy things at other places on the web with my credit card. I think we can put this one down to LL, yet again, finding ways NOT to take our money.
  8. @steph: Not quite. Beta testing is a legitimate and recognized testing tool. In-house testing is, by necessity, limited. It can't hope to exercise every combination of hardware, software, and user-input commands. So, the software is distributed to a much larger and more diverse group to try to provide that larger and less controlled environment.
  9. A disclaimer is no excuse for not abiding by the Terms of Service. However, a roleplay situation is something of a special case. IF the sim you roleplay in has a policy that admins may view IM logs on request to adjudicate disputes, AND you are both roleplaying there, THEN it may (arguably) be assumed that the other player has given their consent to you to share your IM logs with the referees...but only for purposes relevant to the game. Please note that in many roleplay games, IM is used as an OOC (Out of Character) communications channel. In this case, the matters discussed in IM might have nothing to do with the roleplay scenario ("Psst, Aston! Let's blow this boring place and go make out.") and therefore should not be shared. If the IM contains material that would reveal any Real Life personal information about a person ("Psst, Aston! Did you know Shelly is a guy in Real Life? Look at Bill coming on to 'her', LOL!") then it should NEVER be shared. Even in a roleplay sim, sharing your IM logs is sticky and tricky, and anyone who really took exception to it might Abuse Report you. It's doubtful that LL would take action on such a report, but then again, they might. Proceed with extreme caution.
  10. When you have an old avatar with a large inventory, it's better to keep that avatar. Give her a new look and a new display name if you want. If you're tired of your old friends, you can make new ones. Starting over is a HUGE pain, because as others said, you can't transfer any of your No Transfer items...which is probably most of your stuff.
  11. Maybe the location you are trying to log in to is off line. Try logging in to a different place. Edit your post to include any error messages you're getting, by clicking the Options/Edit button in the upper right corner.

    The only way

There's another option to get your ideal home. Don't get ANY Linden Home. Buy land, and then buy or build your own home on it. It's more work...but also more fun!
  13. Facepalms. :matte-motes-oh-rly: Don't EVER "lend" your account to ANYONE. Not someone you know in SL, not your roommate, not your cousin, not your friend at work, not even your husband/wife/significant other. When you get it straightened out, change your password, write it down and store it in a safe location along with the other information on the account...the email address you used, the secret questions you chose. Then don't EVER EVER EVER tell that information to anyone else ever again.
  14. I just posted a rant about it in my blog as well. This is outrageous. http://acrossthegridwithlindal.blogspot.com/2013/07/dont-pay-us-we-must-punish-you-first.html
  15. This is news to me, KarenMichelle, and it sucks big time! I use the same model as you...pay my tier with collected rents that I exchange for $USD, and make up any shortfall by using Increase Credit and sending over $20 bills via PayPal. I have NEVER had to have LL access my payment method directly, the money is always there for them. It seems that Linden Lab is still trying just as hard as they possibly can to make it difficult for us to give them money. What an insane way to run a business! Is there any way we can get this introduced in an appropriate Office Hour?
  16. This is the second time you have complained in these forums when a land owner objected to your nudist lifestyle/philosophy. I suggest you srop trying to be a martyr for your cause. Join a nudist group and enjoy your lifestyle with similar minded friends, or buy your own land and make your own rules.
  17. All of the answers are valid. But here is the actual TOS violation: the 16 year old is not allowed in Moderate or Adult regions, and sex is not allowed in the General regions available to them.
  18. If several things were returned to your inventory they may be there as a coalesced object in your Lost and Found. This has the symbol of a small stack of cubes, and may be named after one of your objects, or just "object". Rez it somewhere you have plenty of room and alk your stuff should appear in the same relative positions as when they were last rezzed.
  19. For more on pregnancy role play, see my blog post, "How Does Babby Grow?"
  20. I had a tenant with a persistent stalker. Every time she identified I new alt, I would ban him. It took a couple of months, but he finally gave up and went away.
  21. The Masocado Resort has one vacant liveaboard yacht slip. It is next door to the Resort condo tower and close to all the amenities. The slip will accommodate craft up to about 35 meters in length. The Resort borders open Linden Ocean, with direct access to the Blake Sea sailing sims. It's a perfect spot to tie up your driveable floating home! The rental box is currently set to $L3,695 per calendar month (not four weeks like most rentals!) and 500 prims. However, the price and prim allowance are negotiable. If interested, please contact me via IM in world. Do NOT pay the rental box prior to discussing your proposed boat/home, size and prim requirements! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Masocado/188/153/22

    Getting items

Dresden is 100% correct. When you buy something that is No Transfer, it belongs to that particular avatar account only, not to you as a person, for use with other avatar accounts you may have. A lot of us wish that things were set up so that we could have one USER account, and share its inventory among whatever avatars we create. However, that is not how SL is set up, and it does not seem likely that this will change.
