The fact is that no matter what it is called, people are going to lose their minds and go all Chicken Little predicting the IMMINENT DEATH OF SECOND LIFE.

If they were my neighbor, I'd also probably drop them a very polite notecard suggesting they restrict their sounds. They may not even be aware they're doing it.

I believe they spend a lot of time in front of their computers, but I'm honestly not sure. Maybe one of them will answer you.

According to Ebbe during his SL16B talk (I think... or maybe it was @Patch Linden somewhere else) there are something like 60,000 premium accounts.

Until someone comes up with a surfing system that doesn't absolutely destroy the look of a beautiful region, I think surfing would be great. I've not see that, however. Most of them look just bloody awful. I think once things have calmed down a little bit and there are parcels 'a plenty, we are going to see all sorts of fun things happen courtesy of the Lindens and Moles!

No one other than LL actually knows what effect the price increase has had on premium memberships, if there was any effect at all. Anything else is nothing but pure speculation and skewed by the type of people we have on our friend's lists, it would seem.

I asked them way back when the price went up what they thought about the price going up. I keep my list short so it's less than 20 people. The universal answer I got was, "Price went up?" followed by as shrug, and some variation on how little of a crap they gave about the increase and probably wouldn't have ever noticed had I not said something. So that'd be 100% in the not-giving-a-crap category. While I didn't feel the need to follow that up with a question about whether or not they were going to drop their premium, I'm pretty sure the answer would have been 100% no based on the 100% not giving a crap.

No, I'm just looking at different statistics. You are looking at the number of parcels and I'm looking at the amount of traffic a web page can handle, particularly a page that requires some sort of processing rather than just a static page. We don't know what that number is, but it is a finite number, and every page hit is dialing into a database that is fairly ancient and built by people who have probably moved on from LL, taking the knowledge of how it was built with them, so it's a strain on both the land page and the database feeding into that land page. I think of it like calling a radio station in the old days. 1,000 people calling the same number are going to have a harder time getting through than 10 people calling the same number. 10-1 odds are better than 1,000-1 odds and there is much less chance of the phone line imploding on itself. I'm also not sure I agree about the current excitement being dampened. I think it's more exciting for Bellisseria to have more brand new people every time a region is released than a couple of new people and the same bunch of fishermen and women that look at the parcel for a minute, then toss it back for another angler to catch and then release. That's just opinion, though, and not really quantifiable. It's exciting for the people fishing, but not so much for the people who just want new neighbors who might actually stay around a while and bring new energy into the community with fresh ideas and groups and events.

I do it because it makes some people unreasonably angry, and others confused when I do say something slightly critical of LL. 😜

Since people have spoken of their dislike of small rooms and their desire for a more open floor plan, the next theme is obviously going to be yurts.

Most of the people who are continually talking or posting about their attempts to acquire a Bellisseria parcel are people who are playing a fishing game in which the fish are Bellisseria parcels, and the only way of winning is to catch the mythical unicorn parcel. They are "catching" and "releasing" multiple traditional homes, trailers, and houseboats every day (five times per premium account, and quite a few of those people have several premium accounts). My advice for LL on how to resolve the current situation is to keep doing exactly what they're doing right now, but to only allow people to catch and release once a month instead of five times a day. I have no proof or technical knowledge of this, but it's my personal belief (and watch the stones come flying at my head now) that these people who are obsessed, playing it as a game, never content, or whatever justification they invent, are making it harder for people like you who haven't had the opportunity to land even a single Bellisseria parcel.

But that's not what you said here... It's entirely possible for things to not be against the TOS but to be illegal in the real world. I can buy a bomb on the MP, but it would be illegal to do so in the real world. I can buy heroin on the MP, but it would be illegal to do so in the real world. I can sell my body for sex in SL, but it would be illegal for me to do that in the real world (at least in my part of it).
