Unnecessarily scary message from SL
Psyche Starling replied to animats's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
Yeah, I got this when FAGA hair switched to a subscription group. I was like "What did I do? I never even posted in the group chat!", but a look at their FB cleared it up. -
The V Bento does not adapt to the skintone!
Psyche Starling replied to Nikita Neuman's topic in Fashion
One thing that sometimes happens is that if the V loads before your body, it won't fit to your body the way it's supposed to. This can happen if, say, you have more than one mesh body and you switch from an outfit using e.g. Legacy to one using Maitreya. The V loads, then the body does, and the V doesn't match or fit the body properly. It can be fixed by taking the V off and putting it back on. Booties do this too sometimes.- 21 replies

The Saturday Sale Announces Price Increase--Thoughts?
Psyche Starling replied to Lysistrata Szapira's topic in Your Avatar
I think even a year or so ago, I used to see more stores doing like one color at 88L and then the rest at regular price, but I feel like I don't see that much anymore either. -
I haven't even gone. I have too many skins already, and still wear the same two all the time lol.

Catwa announces price drop - what do you think?
Psyche Starling replied to Stephanie Misfit's topic in Your Avatar
I remember being a noob, not being able to get into Catwa or the MP for the Queen head, and ending up with the Genus Strong. Wonky eyes and all. Ah, memories. I used it for a few months before springing for a Lilly. I mostly liked the Strong but just couldn't get a snub nose out of it. And I ended up liking the Lelu HUD a lot better too. -
Looking for a AO and at my wits end.

Can't help with the AO, but your dress, omg. Is that Violent Seduction? -
I want a fat body - help? Very new!
Psyche Starling replied to missfreudianslit's topic in Your Avatar
Akeruka has a couple of chubby heads. I bought this one when it came out--I can't find it on MP anymore, but it may still be inworld: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kaoz/51201622494 And then more recently the Luisa: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/AK-ADVX-Luisa-Head/23669234 -
can I edit anything on my purchased land?
Psyche Starling replied to VexDarkness's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, that happened with one of my rented parcels. It came with some landscaping, some of which I liked and some of which was in the way, and I asked the landlord if I could move it. She said no, but I could return it to her. So I left some of it there and returned the rest to her. -
Valentina E. just dropped one at Anthem too, called Nevermore.

Looking for a Elvira, mistress of dark type of dress
Psyche Starling replied to GreyLasagna's topic in Wanted
Long slit skirts are hard! You end up having to alpha some weird combination of areas, and then when you move, it becomes obvious that you are missing big chunks of leg. 😄 -
Clothes for TMP Male (yes, the old one)
Psyche Starling replied to Leonardis Ducatillon's topic in Fashion
Oooh! My MAlt is on TMP so I have thoughts. Amazing Creations still puts out lots of their stuff for TMP. I've acquired a decent amount of stuff just by joining the group and hoovering up the gifts and lucky boards. Fitch--I heard about this one from Ryan Schultz's blog (https://ryanschultz.com/2019/11/24/clip-and-save-ryans-all-in-one-guide-to-freebies-in-second-life/ with more info), there's some TMP stuff and some useful BOM stuff there. I've got lots of the stuff from Gabriel's freebie area, it's standard sizing but my guy looks fine in an M most of the time. Kauna--also found via Ryan Schultz's blog, some TMP and some standard sizes. Got a lot of standard size stuff at Ajuda SL Brazil too. Some of it looks its age, but it's free, so low risk lol--just grab it and sort it out later. -
Right Click "Wear Items"
Psyche Starling replied to Charalyne Blackwood's topic in Second Life Viewer
You Add the box too. We just call it wearing boxes because it's funnier. -
I have a bad habit of breaking my texture organizer this way. I'll be good for months on end, then accidentally tp with it on and ☠️😣💩

Anti consumer practices from vendors
Psyche Starling replied to Coffee Pancake's topic in General Discussion Forum
I don't mind stores that sell single colors; I only mind what people were talking about above: for example, the ad shows a cute dress with a contrasting belt, because it looks way better with a contrasting belt, but when you demo, you can't tell if the belt is changeable on the single version. So you buy the single version and it looks worse than the ad because it's all the same color. I'm willing to buy the fatpack to change that belt if I like the item enough, but just actually tell me! Some stores have fine print on the ad that tells you what changes on the single; some include the single hud in the demo. Both are fine. -
No nipple no butt clothing for Reborn
Psyche Starling replied to SorachaNicEoghain's topic in Your Avatar
Belle Epoque is releasing some new stuff in Reborn now. Just have to check the ads/demos because older stuff is not. They've got a hunt on right now too for 10L each item. -
Yes, their new head skins have a neck fade. I had thought my Glam Affair Fair head skin just matched my Velour Icy body skin really well by coincidence, until one time I was trying on a more tan body skin and saw the Fair neck fade still all over my neck and decolletage. No wonder I didn't have a neck line!

And if you join the group (it's not free, but I think it's only like 100), you'll get the group chat when we're all trying to win midnight madness! It doesn't lock every day, but some days we all get organized and cheer each other on to slap the board lol.

Vintage Hair Styles 1920s, 30s and 40s
Psyche Starling replied to Helen Zenovka's topic in Your Avatar
Truth has a cute bob called the Ingenue that I've used both for 20s and 60s looks. Also a fan of Nylon Outfitters and Wings. Maraschino has some too. -
Good point! I really only have a human male alt to model things I'm making for men. He actually started as a satyr, which would be an NPC of sorts for an event that didn't pan out, and doubled as a convenient way to wander around Fantasy Faire anonymously, but I worked him up as a human later for fashion purposes.
-
I have one of the Ruths on an alt, and it fits enough Maitreya stuff that I'm not sure creators really need to design for it specifically. (There's also the argument that if someone is looking for completely free, they're mostly looking for freebie clothes too instead of buying, which--considering this is an alt I rarely use--is fair in my case.)

This is a very good point. 2000L is kind of the upper edge of my "eh, I'm willing to piss that away" range. It's about $10 RL USD and I'm usually willing to shell that out if I really like something and haven't been overspending lately. 5000 is more in the range of "sit and think about it for a month or more" and often decide against it. The only things I've spent that much on are my head and horses.
