  1. Perhaps there are separate teeth/jaw included with that head/body. Whenever I have issues with animations wigging out, the first thing I do is make sure I reset animations which should get your tongue back in your mouth. Can we see a picture of your worn folder?
  2. Kira, if you wouldn't mind sharing a picture of your avatar, it might help us offer you suggestions. I would definitely recommend checking out Flickr if you haven't already to get some ideas about what you might like.
  3. @Zia Underwood Top is from a store called Imbue. Not entirely sure on the shorts, but they are most likely Imbue or perhaps Rouly.
  4. Finally fixed my head with the new rigging. With my old shape it looked like someone karate chopped me across the nose.
  5. @backtoblack27 That is the biker jacket from Vale Koer. Here is the picture from Flickr :
  6. I kinda wish there was a version that didn't have the hd layers. I almost exclusively wear bom make up save for hd lipstick occasionally for pictures. But typically if you ever encounter me just in the world I am only wearing my bom. I am on day 3 of tweaking my shape with the new Lake rig. I like the results for the most part, but I look very different , almost like they just gave me a free new head >.< I like the hud, it feels even more streamlined .
  7. Basically I want to see all that your avatar is currently wearing which you can usually find on the Worn tab of your inventory.
  8. There could be few things going on. Are you wearing a full body alpha to hide your system body? Some clothing will require additional alphaing in your hud or a full clothing alpha. If you could take a picture of your worn folder that would be great. If you are in the process of going Bakes on Mesh, check out Skell's tutorials here.
  9. Would something like this be helpful? Izzie has fixed a lot skin issues for me in past so it might be worth a look, she does offer demos. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Izzies-Highlight-Corrector/18650986
  10. @forbrezeIf you don't mind, try sharing a picture with us here so we can see what you are seeing. I've seen people who have their environment settings turned up too high in their head/body hud have a gray cast or practically metallic.
  11. I was not around for the original TMP though I've read a great deal about their former business practices. I think there is definite reason to be skeptical of the new stuff, but I will say that with their latest update to Perky, they gave a free even smaller breast add-on that replaces the chest plate that acts similarly to how Maitreya Petite does. I think they have a long way to go to restore trust in the general populous for their products, and I might be wearing rose colored glasses because I was never burned by them personally. I hope the free add on for Perky and the 1 linden TMP body (which is arguably one of the best low cost options for avatars on a budget) are just the start to turning things around. Or maybe it's not >.< I can only report my specific experiences and opinions. I like the products, but I understand why others may not.
  12. You unpack them like you would a clothing item and it will live in folders in your inventory. Then you should be able to either right click them in your inventory and set it that way and it should also populate where you can change where the basic skies are too. I wish I could show pictures, but I am slagging off at work again >.> and don't have access to my viewers currently.
  13. I think since it has EEP , you might have to important windlights to get your old settings back. Fortunately, someone took the time to create EEP doodads for each setting, and put them on MP for free. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Firestorm-Default-Sky-Windlights/20088838
  14. Along with the ones already listed, Tres Beau and Session have some beautiful options for darker toned skins in my opinion. If you aren't already, definitely take a look at Flickr to window shop. Lelutka has a group just for products that work on their heads. You might have to do some digging, and definitely don't trust the vendor ads at face value as they often cannot show their entire range of colors and the trend is to Photoshop. So demo demo demo. And there is something to what FairreLilette says about lighting. My avatar looks really featureless and washed out in certain lighting especially if you use a super bright windlight like Midday. Since I use Firestorm predominantly, I mostly walk around using Nam's Optimal Skin and Prim which is still pretty bright , but not harsh. I hope this is helpful.
  15. I used Maitreya as my primary body for a really, really long time, and did not have any complaints about it because you could not beat the sheer amount of options for clothing/appliers it had, and the relative ease of use of it's HUD. Last year when the Legacy body came out, I tried it on a lark because I was curious about it, and was instantly blown away by the looks of it. For me there are some huge improvements in the overall shape of the mesh : no pointy butt if your hip length is too short, slightly larger, softer looking legs (I always get compliments on my legs), the wrists are more slender and tapered , the shoulders are modeled better, the waist actually nips in even without saddle bags turned up, the stomach has some definition to it independent to the skin so when you look at it from the side, it's not entirely flat. For my particular shape which trends towards slender and shorter than perhaps the average, the back on Maitreya also would get a bit weird if you narrowed your shoulders too much (texture of the skin kind of bunches up), but that doesn't happen with Legacy as far as my experimentation with it has taken me. Recently, they did an update to Legacy Perky that fixed some of the glaring issues such as: now we can use the material layers included in the HUD on top of BOM and fixed the slices in the body that occurred at certain heights ( I think those changes for some of the other Legacy bodies are still in the works, but if you are curious check the mesh body website for the most recent updates). It's not all roses for me with Legacy, however. The HUD system is sluggish and sometimes doesn't work. The HUD has some fancy animations on certain pages that while look cool often impede me when I am trying to do basic things like alphaing my armpits. I am looking at you rotating alpha cut tab! While the Legacy HUD gives me sleek aesthetic, I care more for function, and you find oodles of that with the Maitreya HUD. I click a thing and it just works. I did give the Maitreya petite chest a try when it first came out and I did not like it for myself personally. The breasts sat too low for me no matter how much I played with the gravity. With all this being said, do I think people need to switch exclusively to Legacy? Nope. I think if you are happy with your body and look, and people are still making great content for it then stick with it. For me all the aesthetic improvements I see outweigh the negatives. There are things I want them to do in the future, like making the body less complex and and an easier to use HUD system, and I hope that is a priority for the creators. If you read all of this... Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
  16. Definitely check out the event going on at Logo right now if you love their look. They are actually offering up two new heads (one male and one female) , and if you are in the group, the base head is free for a limited amount of time. They've also invited a bunch of different stores to make skins and make up for them that are present on their sim . Skinnery and Pink Fuel are two I'd recommend , and the Alaska skin looks great if you want a more handpainted look.
  17. A lot of older system layer were made before we could have 1024 textures so the quality is not as great as what we are accustomed to now. I still use the clothing layers for layering purposes as well as oodles of skin details to customize my look. I hope in the future they are able to work out the issues that occur when you enter appearance mode (striped skin and missing eyes), but I am overall very happy with the seemingly limitless possibilities with customization. As for Asian skin suggestions, I would definitely recommend checking out Mudskin for their more recent releases (making for the 3 major heads). Really beautiful skins. Also Boataom has some great stuff too!
  18. Simple Bloom is probably your best option. Loads of styles/arches and they cover a good variety of heads. A R T E also has some nice brows as well with hairs.
  19. Thank you for posting your wear folder that helps a lot when assisting with issues. I am assuming you don't currently have a mesh head on , most bodies that I am familiar with usually come with some sort of neck fix solution since the join between most mesh and system avatars is especially egregious. In your tweenster hud is there something that controls neck size there? And If not there, there might be an actual mesh piece you can wear on top that is included. If not, Apricot Paws has a free neck fix thing that while originally meant for furry avatars might help in this case as well. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Apricot-Paws-SLUV-Neck-ExtenderFix-Freebie/14958878
  20. I have not seen bom layers made for nails, but I use mesh nails made by Alme. Typically I buy them on Saturday Sale or Happy Weekend so they aren't usually super expensive. They come in couple of different lengths and have some really nice materials on them (I'm basically a magpie). Just make a copy of the nails customized the way you want them, and make sure you wear /save them in your outfit. And if you wanted to wear a different color from the set , make another copy with it customized that way and save it to that outfit. As long as they are separate copies, the nails should be different depending on the outfit you have on. Hope that helps.
  21. It would be difficult to mimic the look of bento mesh avatars that are so popular now because like Chic said, they are far more complex than the standard system SL avatar. If you were seeking to just make better pictures, I'd recommend a face light that can sometimes diminish the harsh lines around the nose and mouth. I would not recommend just wearing it around in world though as often other people have them turned off, and in some cases they are disallowed at events / sims due to how bright they are. Looking at your icon picture, I'd maybe recommend checking out Slink redux heads. I have no idea who is making skins for them, but they are bom so you could experiment with your current system skin. Siddean has pictures on her personal Flickr and slurls to her in world store. If you haven't already, make a copy of your current shape and put it away for safe keeping so that when you try on different bento mesh heads you can experiment with sliders without worry of messing up your original look. Good luck, and keep us posted!
