  1. I change my skins on fairly regular basis not because I like the variety, but I am chasing the elusive ONE that has all the features I am looking for. Each time I eventually find one thing I don't like, and the search begins anew. My everyday look however doesn't change a ton , same shape (though I am forever tweaking it) , eyes, hair, and general style. It's interesting, I play sl without name tags on which aesthetically I like more especially when you get in big groups. I can still mouse over people or look at their profile if I don't know them, but for the most part, I can recognize all my friends on sight, and a lot of them change their looks on fairly regular basis.
  2. Petition to change this thread to Skell just giving us all thoughtful compliments. All kidding aside, it was a real pleasure to read. In times like these when the world is on fire in a million different ways, recognizing others positively does wonders for morale. For me, its a reminder that what I say or do has an effect on others and on myself.
  3. I didn't even crop this one. Enjoy that random leaf . This was taken in Firestorm with Nam's Optimal Skin and Prim windlight. Ambient Occlusion turned on. Depth of field used as well.
  4. So I guess that is why when you initially load into area that you might experience a spike of lag while your computer/network is having to download all that information. I am very lucky that I have wired connection which has made a big difference for me in SL. I checked my attachment useage and right now even with few huds on that I will normally take off when I go to public areas, I only use about 18 attachments. I am sure at times I wear a lot more and other times much less, but have never ran out of attachment points ...yet.
  5. Oh yes. The Salem event is the first that comes to mind , but I remember going to a several . I know for the last few years, The Arcade has had mini round that is devoted to Halloween.
  6. I love seeing how everyone organizes. I am still working on a system for me. Eventually I'd love to have a visual representation of my wardrobe (I did buy that system like two years ago lol), but first I got to get all the crap out of my objects folder. Last year I did manage to clean up everything to the point where its at least all mesh stuff now. Organizing is sort of like knitting for me now, something I do in my down time while watching a movie or show as it doesn't require a lot of brain power from me. Eventually I need to work on resell of a bunch of my gacha as that has been one of the huge contributing factors to the mess that is my inventory, but that's a whole topic on it's own. I'd be curious to know how big your inventories actually are. I am at 85k right now and that is with purging demos and packing up my ancient but precious wardrobe from 2007, but I got bunch more to do.
  7. @Bagnu That might be a materials issue. Try turning down materials on the skin layer of face. On the hud it should be at the bottom of one of the first tabs. I should be home in a few hours so if you are still having the issue, I'd be more than happy to help you in world with it.
  8. Make sure you are wearing the right version of your head. The maitreya body works with the version of the lelutka head without the (SL) tagged at the end. That should give you a seamless look. If you still have a seam play around with the neck size in your maitreya hud. But if it's purely a skin issue. You really do want to buy a head skin from the same place as your body for a seamless look. If you are doing bom, keep in mind you will need to wear another bom body skin for the other one to go away. There is no taking off a bom body skin as that is one of the things that an avatar needs to have to be an avatar ( other things include: a shape , hair base, and system eyes) . Another thing to keep in mind, a lot of skin stores use another tattoo layer that you must wear on top of both face tattoo layer and body. Post us a picture of your neck issue and perhaps your worn tab so that maybe we can have a better idea of what is going on.
  9. Welp. I guess, at least I am legal >.<. When I get home from work today, I foresee me trying this on a bunch of different pictures.
  10. What Next has a fun selection and usually sets up a separate area for their holiday things. Vespertine has some cute pumpkins. Half Deer also has some stuff. I definitely have a spider web from there. I am so ready for fall. >.<
  11. I have been trying to clean my inventory for sometime now. One of the first things I did was search for the word "demo" and delete all those things. The last time I did that, I deleted like 5k items >.>. So I demo A LOT. I am very picky about how things fit and look, so when in doubt I will always try it on first even with brands I trust to make sure I actually like it. I've gotten burned a couple of times with hairs specifically when I didn't try them on and discovered it didn't fit me right or they were insanely high in complexity. If something doesn't have a demo, I usually steer clear entirely. Not sure on the ratio though. I always demo, but at an event that might be 1 or 2 very specific things in a sea of many more. Still sounds like my buy ratio is pretty high.
  12. I joined the forums because I enjoy helping others with their avatars and also to share in the photography community here. While I am new to interacting on the forums, I have been reading them for some time. It's been an interesting experience so far, and I mean that earnestly. In SL like any other part of the internet, it's easy to get into an echo chamber where everyone you encounter thinks the way you do. Here we have a lot of different experiences of the world - each valid and important. It's a good reminder to check my own thinking and practice some empathy.
  13. What viewer are you using? I use the Firestorm ao, and all I do is drop animations into it and let it know what kind of animation it is via the drop down. Super easy if you aren't switching to other viewers all the time. If you are using a zhao or some other kind of 3rd party ao, there should be a feature that basically has you restart the ao by loading the changed note card and the script will read it and either start doing the animations or give you an error looking for those listed in the card.
  14. I finally broke down, and tried the Star By Face site. My results: I had a tie! I see Natalie more than Katherine, but both are cuties so I can't complain.
  15. For me I get it for the one I am using right then. I am not a person who switches between heads regularly though more power to those who do. I’ve stopped using regular appliers or hd makeup for the most part. I prefer bom stuff because of the fun layer possibilities, and you can wear that stuff on all the heads. Lipstick and eyeliner is the only things that you really need to buy specifically for your head brand, but always demo because ads can be misleading. Because Lelutka evo heads come with separate materials for lips, eyes and skin, I’ve had people think I was wearing hd makeup when it was just really great bom stuff.

    Hair

Stealthic and Doux are really good hair creators. Truth also has been doing some really great textures recently.
  17. That looks like the top from Eternus' Eddy Set. Not sure about the purse though.
  18. Session definitely sells body skins. Depending on the age of the skin , if it's a new bom skin, she usually includes a version of the skin with the head and body attached along with a seperate tattoo versions of the face with and without brows in case you wanted to use the athletic version which is not included as one of the base body skins. But you can buy the body skins separate also. I believe if my memory serves me correctly, they are on the back wall on the first floor. I hope that didn't sound too confusing. I am a little tired (tgif).
  19. Definitely try Session, their skins are hyper realistic and they have a bunch of beautiful ones for Catwa. I use Pepe Skins and Lara Hurley on my Lelutka, both have skins where there are visible pores and some lines around the eyes. I also use a bunch of skin details from various creators like previously mentioned Izzies, some freckles from Mudskin that are so faint that they look more like interesting skin texture to me. Adored has some really nice sleep deprived eyebags , and Deetalez just came out with a whole bunch of body details.
  20. I love Fashionista! Another option to check out and I think should still be available is a group gift from Foxy called Ina. Low ponytail with a few tendrils that frame the face but not too messy in my opinion. I believe it's rigged, but is a great gift! https://www.flickr.com/photos/lizabroono/48051160966/
  21. Above is my raw shot. I use the Firestorm viewer. This was the Night windlight though I edited the lighting and colors in the Firestorm sky editor. Used Ambient Occlusion. Local Lights turned on. Nothing else was done to it save for making the image smaller. I shoot very high res images 6000x 3178. This is my edited picture. I didn't do too much to it. I currently use Gimp, but have some experience with regular Photoshop from a zillion years ago. I have a plugin called Beautify which has a bunch of cool filters. I used a strong contrast filter and tuned it down till I liked it. And I then added some grain to the picture via noise which is just something I like to do with most of my pictures.
  22. I unfortunately have never owned a LAQ head so I am not really aware of who is making things for them. Your best bet for finding things for your head is to check out Flickr. Most Mesh head stores have a group there that is comprised of product ads that are for that particular brand and see if anything tickles your fancy. Just looking myself, it looks like there is not a ton of support. I see a lot of Omega. Maybe even check at the LAQ store itself to see if they have any new skins/products that might enhance your head.
