I rarely ask to friend. But after a decent first chat, I accept requests, even though I might get second thoughts soon after. So I might accept a couple in a week, but it's not many. The worst are those who ping as soon as I log on. I have stuff to do. So pestering will likely mean defriending. Yeah I defriend people, and people defriend me. It's really no big deal.

Probably unrelated but today I had a hard crash and then couldn't relog. The pop up said my graphics drivers were out of date or not properly installed. It's a new laptop with NVidia GeForce. Searching for an update told me I had the latest already. So I searched on line for help. That led me to the NVidia site, and I did reinstall which fixed it. I'm an IT numpty, so I felt good about doing that, although it took maybe an hour. That was after restarting my laptop, downloading the SL viewer, which didn't work either, and reinstalling Firestorm.

I'm available if you're interested. In world most days just now, but only up to 11am SLT. I'm UK based, RL writer & friend of Go. My SL passion is photography, building avis and decorating homes. Forum messaging is a way to set something up in advance.

Growing up I hated quite a lot of things. Hot summer days, hot sun, cold winters, snow, frost, ice, dark mornings, dark evenings. Snow fights at school....... Now I no longer bother. It is what it is. It won't change much in my lifetime. This year is different. You see, I love being at home. I have hobbies and interests. I like my own company, being an only child from a one parent family. I have many friends who can't stay at home. They need to be out, with friends, cinema, theatre, travelling. They now struggle. And yet I am carried by my interests. It gets me through winter. It's my comfort blanket. It includes wine.

Sometimes a picture just presents itself.

Is this the latest Firestorm viewer? Because I still get floating parts. Except for myself, who appears as a carrot gas fart.

People learn different ways. That's the problem. So it's hard to cover all types. Sure there are hard things to master. I struggled with unpacking for a long time, and with sand boxes. Mesh is the biggest challenge but there's plenty of help if you ask the right people. I never looked at a video, and didn't know what a notecard was for weeks.

Fantastic help everybody!! I just ordered a cooling tray, which I found recommended on an IT site. I really had no idea you could get these things. Next job is to filter through all the likely laptops and hopefully get a 17". I'm not rushing this part, because I think more options might come up after January First. I shall be referring back to this thread probably on a daily basis. No more hot legs!!! oo-err! PS...I got a new Car-Mouse. I'm such a geek with mouses. Or Meece.

Oh thanks Fairre! I didn't know you could get trays......Oops! Yeah in summer it gets a bit hot. Winter is OK. I would LOVE a 19" flat screen, but it's just not possible here.

Thanks Rollig. I can't use a desktop at home, it just wouldn't fit. Even a standalone monitor isn't doable, because I'm usually on the sofa in a corner! I'll look some more, and maybe I should go for the 17"!! And Asus by the sound of it.

OK so treat me as an idiot. When it comes to IT, that’s me. This has been done to death already I know, but please bear with me……….. I’m laptop shopping in the sales. I know you’ll all have an opinion, but I need to ask some questions. Even if I get a dozen different opinions, there might be some concensus. Brands: I’m looking at Lenovo, Asus, and Dell. Any others worth considering? The specs below come from 21 listed laptops. I don’t game at all other than SL, but who knows, I might sometime…………... Monitor size15.6” 0r 17.3”?? Opinions please. I’m currently on 15.6” ................................................................................................................................... Processor: i7 9750; 10750; 10875………..Bigger better??? i9 worth considering. GeForce RTX 2060 6GB Graphics card GeForce RTX 2070 8GB Graphics card GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8GB Graphics card GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Graphics card I assume the 1660Ti is the worst???? Of the others, does it matter? .................................................................................................... All are 16GB RAM, except one which is 32GB. I only discovered by accident. Suddenly on v5.3 I had baggy shoes. I'm not sure if the slider defaults to zero, but I found at 25, which was the previous set number, it was back to how it was.

Also set your foot size to 25 on v5.3.
