  1. Here's another angle: https://www.itv.com/news/2021-07-23/itv-news-reveals-scale-of-amazons-waste-across-uk-as-footage-shows-unused-returned-food-thrown-away
  2. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/sanders-warren-aoc-bezos-spaceflight-b1887982.html?amp=&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=upday Hopefully this link will open outside the UK.
  3. At the start of the pandemic, according to the news, billionaire Branson was seeking a government bail out for his airline, despite allegedly not paying any tax here for 14 years. To amass a fortune, staff and/or customers are paying the price. It's a wealth club ego trip, as the planet decays under our feet. But nothing will change. The industrial revolution certainly revolutionised lives, but was it for the better? Slum housing, long working weeks, child labour, and huge amounts of pollution. Look at the world now with so much consumption of resources, and huge wealth gaps, poverty, and social unrest. How is this better?
  4. Muddling through is how new people figure it all out, and not everybody makes it through that stage. This forum was my lifeline, and enabled me to fast forward through an early transition into mesh. Without this help, and some in world help from one or two really special people, I doubt I would still be here in my addictive haze. I have made some seriously good friends here in the forums, who make the whole experience much more fulfilling. But as I've grown in SL, I find I come here less often, and much the same happened with the newbie sims I used to hang out at. It's all part of the SL journey. I'm always happy to pass on the help I got in my early days, and most of that happens in world nowadays.
  5. This, except the Bellisaria home rather than the 1024sqm
  6. Tater is slang for potato round here.
  7. Ack! Stop worrying. It's a simulation. Get over it.😛
  8. The bug is still alive. You both have to be in world or it may not stick. It's happened to me in the last few days.
  9. Ah! That clan name is everywhere around Lewis&Harris. If you've never got to Skye, we got there a couple of years ago, and it lives up to the reputation of desolate beauty.
  10. It might be MacLeod & MacLeod of Lewis. I need to look it up! Its CharlesMacLeod of Stornoway!
  11. When I want to relax, it's nice to have interaction with others virtually. But it's also nice to go shopping, go exploring go taking photos on my own. It would maybe be nicer if Belli had an authentic township with a town centre, where you really did see neighbours every day, but maybe that would become too much like RL. I'd just like more realistic graphics so that distant stuff was fully rezzed, and maxed out graphics didn't lag so much. But it is what it is and I love the place.
  12. I was a bookworm. A lot of encyclopedias. I was at the library two or three times a week borrowing books or cluttering the reference library. I loved Enid Blyton even though she's no longer revered. We didn't get a colour tv until 1984, so my tv memories are black and white. The Avengers with Patrick McNee was way ahead of it's time. We never played any games, and if I wasn't reading I would be out on my bike. Nobody knew where I was and I just went back for meals. I also dismantled stuff when unsupervised like my scooter, and the sideboard clock. At least my scooter went back together and worked.
  13. It's a mixed bag. Most places I go the host greets and I watch local and always respond. Many don't respond. Some avis are obviously afk. Local chat seems to be either almost non existent, or totally rammed with those picture emotes, which makes it impossible to follow. I tend to avoid places with local chat rammed with spam.
  14. If you want to sample the haggis and black pudding of kings, artisan butchers in Stornoway in the NW of Scotland do mail order. McCleod I recall...an island clan. Its astonishing. Tuna steaks kissing the pan both sides on the way to my plate are also outstanding. Done right, the sides show three stripes, just done top and bottom, almost raw in the middle. Fantastic. My favourite delicacy though is fish finger sandwiches on wholemeal bread with tomato relish, and a bit of side salad.
  15. I'll keep it brief. Peanut butter is way too sweet for me. As is sticky toffee pudding. I love black pudding, haggis, sausage. Not fussed with lobster. I tried testicles once, but not impressed. Bugs dont interest me. Sprouts are fantastic, as are asparagus tips. Capers are ok in small doses. We don't have much processed food. The local butcher is where we go for sausage etc. Made on site, from local produce.
  16. You eat asparagus tips. Within 30 minutes your pee smells of asparagus. How does this happen so fast???
  17. Here in the UK, summers are getting longer, warmer and drier, winters shorter and wetter. The year on year trend shows this, but its only a small window. The argument about electric cars to me doesn't address the issues at all. They still affect climate as they are produced and then scrapped. Some countries are utterly car dependent, but the future should be walk, cycle or use public transport. Here in the UK that's feasible, but we see SUVs on the school run, and in supermarket car parks........when on line delivery is now easy to set up. Plastic pollution is appalling in some places around the world, and commercial flying should be drastically curtailed. But nobody cares enough to take radical steps.
  18. Sometimes you will see yourself sitting OK, but others will see you sitting on the floor. So just flip your AO off when you sit. Annoying but that's SL!
  19. Nothing wrong with granola and prunes. On topic, being called "f" meat in a guy's first line to me. Guess who got blocked.
  20. The problem I've found at shopping events is that the gift function is often unreliable unless my alt is already in world. So it then takes a bit of time doing a redelivery later. So I end up bringing them over to the event. That's not always so easy. Then giving them the money, so they can buy the item. It can get long winded. Having said that, I've started to go to more shopping events, even though I don't buy much stuff there. Just the odd must have.
  21. I'm getting TP crashes occasionally, but nothing like it used to be. No more than a couple of times a session. Sometimes not at all.
