  1. Although both are beautiful, I'd prefer the head to the right (as seen from me) over the other one.
  2. 1. It's Linden Lab, not "Lindon labs" 2. It's not "players", it's Residents. SL isn't a playable game, it's a virtual world. and 3.: Why is it so difficult for you to understand that ADD means ADD? As far as I can remember (and I created my first account in spring 08), WEAR has always meant "wear & replace", and ADD has always been the fix for that.
  3. @CoffeeDujour, actually, I do love SL as it is -- otherwise, I wouldn't have returned to SL with this account. However, I think the code underneath the surface of the servers AND viewer definitively should be renewed, written from scratch, so that it's entirely up-to-date. Not this mess that it's now, with all these great new functions simply added to a 15y old source code. Also, the UI of the official viewer sucks in my opinion (that's why I barely use the official viewer), I think it should have the same UI as FS in Phoenix Mode. I also think LSL should be updated to a new version, with as much functionality as any modern script language. LSL, as it is, is in my opinion too limited, even for SL standards. And I think an in-world tool to create optimized Mesh objects would really be a nice-to-have. In my opinion, this tool should be as easy to use as the current build tools but auto-creating optimized mesh objects instead of the usual prims; so instead of a prim cube, you would rez an optimized mesh cube as default. And yes, this new build tool should have the ability to cut and shape faces and using materials, weight, and such stuff. Using Blender or Maya both have a very steep learning curve (which I personally can't say about SL or about building with prims) - and some former creators I've met through the years with both my accounts simply don't have the time or nerves to learn Blender or Maya. In my opinion, such a quasi-automated in-world tool would massively ease the creation process, and I think there would be many more content creators again.
  4. I agree insofar that there should be an SL2.0 instead of Sansar. In my opinion, Sansar has been a dead birth, right from the start. But it should be an SL2.0 with all the codes for servers and viewer written anew from scratch, without all the baggage on top of code written first about 15years ago; with a better viewer UI (= similar to V1.x, like the UI of Firestorm in Phoenix Mode); with an inworld mesh creating and optimizing tool; with better avatars, bigger regions and less region crossing troubles; and so on.
  5. Actually, half my RL friends use a nickname. I mean, we do know each other's real names, but we don't use them, at all. We all are much more comfortable using our nicknames. There's eg. »Nico«, »Joe«, »Willy«, I'm »Thorin« for these friends, and so on. All these are nicknames based on usernames we've been using on the Internet where we got to know each other in the first place. The other half of my RL friends don't know this first half. It's a circle of people who insist on using their actual names or nicknames based on them. But with them, I'm not as open as with the others mentioned above.
  6. Same here. Secondly, I think it adds to the immersion. Third, I like to keep chat logs - which would be moot using voice. And fourth, Voice isn't working best on my Linux machine anyway, so keeping Voice running always is a hassle, that's why I just listen if I have to. On my own ground, however, Voice is off entirely.
  7. They were saying that in '08 already when I created my former account. However, it still does look pretty alive to *me*, although the numbers of users online at the same time have indeed decreased since back then. 😏
  8. there's 1.) my D/s life (which unfortunately doesn't exist in RL except for occasional play sessions), then 2.) just hanging out with friends, 3.) exploring, sometimes shopping inworld... I rarely go to clubs or parties - and when I go then only at the beginning of a month when I have enough L$ for tips. I used to roleplay back then in '08 - '10 with my former account, but I lost interest entirely when the plots and settings on these roleplay regions moved away ("evolved") from their pre-defined story-universes.
  9. I budget my SL spendings, too. And I recently did cut my budget for SL down from €25 per month to €15 per month. That's enough for my premium fees -- and for some extra pocket money to spend on tips, or on buying stuff. The advantage: I have €10 more to spend in RL. That's not much, but when you have a relatively low regular income, every single extra buck counts. 😔
  10. Do you mean something like a standalone OpenSim region on your own computer? I occasionally use that, to do some prim-building, to practice landscaping, and stuff.
  11. Why I dislike the new LL Viewer Interface? It's frigging ugly, too dark, too counter-intuitive, and too kludgy. I really loved the light, less intruding, and more intuitive V1.x interface. And having the choice between viewers with different UI's, I always choose one with a UI that's at least close to V1.x. And with other software, I also don't like their idiotic change from light UIs to dark ones. And no, I'm not willing to re-learn or to just get used to it. I rather install an older version of some software which has a light UI than having my screen darkened because of the UI of its latest version. 👿 However, as much as I loathe the fugly & kludgy UI of the official LL viewer, I always have its latest version on my computer (installed via PlayOnLinux, because LL has no native Linux viewer anymore 😡) so that I can check with that if something's wrong while using a TPV.
  12. To be honest I really don't like that dark theme that's often used now. Black text on a light background is better readable than white text on a dark background. However, and to answer your question: Firstly, I strongly prefer the pie menu over the other one, it's way more ergonomic, and more intuitive as well. Secondly, those dark opaque windows that clutter the entire view if you open more than one. Then, the camera tools (which I often have open) are too big, as well as the build- and inventory windows. Fourth: Instead of the Legacy profile, it uses the web profile which is not only slower and less informative but eats up even more space as well - and you don't have easy access to your groups either. And fifth, I don't like the vertical stacking of IM's and stuff: I prefer horizontal tabs underneath the chat window. Plus, it takes some time to put all IM's into one chat window, instead of having them in single floaters cluttering the space. Also, I would rather see the "original" V1.x UI used in Firestorm Phoenix Mode, but I consider Firestorm's Phoenix Mode ("Legacy") UI a good compromise between new and old UI.
  13. Of course, it is been updated - although the UI still stays the same. Henri Beauchamp updates their Cool VL Viewer pretty often, every one to two weeks, in order to stay up-to-date with the other viewers and to fix bugs. The latest version (1.26.22.29) was released on Jan 05, 2019.
  14. That's why I have a rule that abbreviations and acronyms should be avoided around me:
  15. 😀 And yes, I did test all Viewers I installed. Although my own top favorites are Firestorm (in Phoenix Mode), Cool VL Viewer, and Singularity - in this order. The main reason: I just don't like the new UI the official viewer (and the other TPV's) uses.
  16. There are more than three Animesh viewers available, as far as I know. Additional to the viewers you already mentioned, there are the latest versions of Kokua Viewer and Restrained Love Viewer -- and also the Cool VL Viewer, in case one prefers the old V1.x user interface. 🙂 I wouldn't recommend the other TPV's though if you want to see the latest shinies, like Bento, Animesh etc: The latest Alpha ("automated") build of Singularity hasn't been updated for 9 months now, it's still in a Pre-Animesh state. Alchemy is still in version 5.0.7, hasn't been updated since Nov. '17. And Catznip, with the latest version R12.0, hasn't been updated for a year either.
  17. I have a 1024m² parcel, too - and I have a nice villa on it, fully furnished even:
  18. As far as I know, LAQ always sells their heads and the HUD separately. That's why their heads are relatively "cheap" in relation to other head creators. I also tried this holiday special product. It is well-made, and shows where LAQ's reputation comes from - but to be honest, I've got so used to my Akeruka Maia that I couldn't identify with this LAQ Head and put it back into my inventory. 😔
  19. Usually, my draw distance is 128m. But a few minutes ago, I set my draw distance to 1024 for a minute, just for these pictures: Madlands? I think in my corner of the Mainlands, it's a rather appropriate description.
