  1. Very much THIS. ↑ Way back in 2008, when I created my first account, I also hopped on danced pads and sat on camping chairs for a few hours each day, for a week or three, in order to earn a few L$. But then, I started to buy L$ myself (first via Virwox, then via the Lindex itself). I even became Premium back then, and had a money tree on my own land for a while, which was emptied each and every night. But then, last year, I eventually couldn't afford the Premium fees anymore - and started anew with this account here.
  2. Yup. I've even seen cosplay photos, shot at Comicons, vanish from DeviantArt due to DMCA threats by the movie/anime/comic makers who created the original character performed, so there's a chance that the same might happen at a Comicon (or whatever the inworld name might be then) within SL. ?
  3. Here's the Link to the Cool VL Viewer: http://sldev.free.fr/ And yes, Kokua does have a native Linux Client, too -- even 64bit.
  4. I don't know... on my OpenSUSE Leap 15.0 64bit system, the most current SL viewer runs just fine on WINE. Same goes for the "Hardcore RLV" by Marine Kelley, Niran's Black Dragon Viewer, and the Catznip Viewer, which I run via PlayOnLinux (which is a WINE frontend, so to speak). I have sound in all of them - but no voice though. However, I do prefer Firestorm (in "Phoenix Mode"), Cool VL Viewer, and Singularity (Alpha) -- 1) because of their UI, and 2) because they have a native Linux client.
  5. I heard of something else: Some sub did let her Dom/me change the button for the SL Viewer so that it links to Marine's Hardcore RLV instead. Which means, whenever she tries to use the official viewer, she'll log in with RLV. oh, and it has nothing to do with "Xtream RLV": It's a fork of Marine Kelley's RLV, built by Marine Kelley herself. http://realrestraint.blogspot.com/2018/06/hardcore-rlv.html
  6. I don't know. I've tried quite a few games since I created my first account in SL - and found all of them boring. Everything about them was like "meh" after a while: the pre-set routes you could go, the pre-set goals you had to meet, the pre-built content, the lack of actual interaction within the game (except with other players via Teamspeak): Not a single one of these games could fascinate me enough to even finish it. Do I consider myself a gamer? No way. I'm a roleplayer, a resident, sometimes even a content creator within SL. But not a gamer. Some of my RL-friends who actually are gamers would buy a new game every month, while I spend my money on virtual land. Them and me - we just live in different worlds of interest. There's nothing considered better or worse between us.
  7. SL was way more intuitive when the official viewer was still on version v1.x. You still can see the difference when comparing the cluttered official viewer to the Cool VL Viewer. And even though I've been in SL since May '08 (with my first account), I have never found SL not interesting enough, not engaging enough, or not interactive enough. Quite the opposite, SL has never stopped to amaze me. I think it's simply a matter of expectations. Of course, someone who got spoiled by high-framerate games will be disappointed by everything in SL. Both because of the partly low fps, the unoptimized content, and because SL has no objectives whatsoever. No "boss" to beat, no points to gain, no goals to meet, no storyline to follow, nothing that qualifies for an actual game. Because of that, I think that SL will always be a disappointment for gamers, no matter how hard LL tries to improve this virtual world.
  8. If it were possible, I'd love to create boats that don't let the Linden Waters weep through the underwater parts of their bodies, underwater domes that are actually dry inside, or submarines you don't drown in. Houses with basements you don't have to raise the terrain for to keep them dry. Oh, and an in-world tool to build all this in an optimized way, without having to use an external software like Blender or so.
  9. In my opinion, SL per se is not a video game. To me, it's rather a virtual place you enter to play games at, or to role-play, or to build, or to socialize, or to do whatever you feel like doing. A video game has objectives, goals set by its creators. Points to collect, an "enemy" to beat or subdue, a storyline to follow, etc. SL per se doesn't have any of that... A video game is full of optimized content built by designers employed by the game company. SL, on the other hand, is full of mostly unoptimized content built by its users.
  10. As far as I know, there's none that also works in IM.
  11. I see the most current Alpha ("Nightly") Build of Singularity is 3 months old already. And yes, the Alpha builds do have Bento, have had for quite a while now. However, I suggest that if you so prefer the V1.x Look&Feel and rather want a viewer that's maintained and updated more regularly, do try the Cool VL Viewer. That viewer is updated weekly to bi-weekly, and although not listed on the TPV list, it's fully TPV-compliant. @Klytyna : I actually rarely use any viewer that has the cluttered UI of the official LL Viewer. I strongly prefer using Firestorm in "Phoenix Mode", the Cool VL Viewer - or the most current Alpha build of Singularity. And I do wish that more TPVs offered the V1.x Look&Feel, which I find way more intuitive than the UI of the official viewer.
  12. No thanks. I prefer SL like it is now. You might find what you're looking for in Sansar, though
  13. I'm very satisfied with my Vista Zoe, it's a full Bento AO though. Although the dollarbie Vista Female Basic Mocap AO is pretty calm, too.
  14. According to the proportions shown in the background, your legs and torso are just fine - though your arms could be a tad longer.
  15. Although being German, I get my news from all over the place. Through the day, mainly via radio, but I also subscribed to quite a few German newspapers and magazines, indymedia and change.org -- and also to Washington Post and New York Times, in order to get an inside view on the things happening in the USA. Oh, and not to forget the regular newsletters by Michael Moore. I get the headlines of all of them in my inbox, so I can choose what to read further.
  16. Also some bondage gear that is not set to silence. At some places, these things are even the only ones talking in Open chat - and spamming it with their messages.
  17. Yesterday, in an IM while I was at MD: I mean, WHEN you message someone, be polite enough to at least attempt to keep the conversation you just started going, instead of stopping at "hello" or "hi".
