  1. On the phone making arrangements with a contractor for a wrap-around porch for my Continental house in Bellisseria (as I search for the one I want on the the MP).
  2. When you're standing in the parcel (in the house or the yard) open up "About Land". On the 'General' tab, on the bottom right hand side, there is an "Abandon Land" button. I believe you will get a pop-up asking you to confirm (but I'm not going to try it to find out). Once you confirm, you cannot get the parcel back.
  3. I had really noticed face lights until last week, when someone was wearing one of these super bright ones when I was out dancing. It caught my attention in part because there was this cone of light that kept moving around on the floor, and when I looked to see where that was coming from, I was just about blinded After that, I started realizing that were others in that set of regions who were also wearing face lights, but much more subtle than the lady dancing.
  4. In a case of the neighbors sounds being heard on your parcel, you can ask the neighbor politely to check the box in About Land that will restrict their sounds to their parcel.
  5. Interesting. I wasn't aware that the stream was supposed to be cleared on abandoning. I've come across streams sill being defined, owner-supplied land parcel picture displaying in About Land, and the landing point coordinates still there. More common in the old Linden Homes, but I've encountered this a few times in the New Linden homes as well.
  6. I have noticed that the initial TP from the land page after claiming a houseboat does tend to put you in the water. However, the parcel with your houseboat will have the name that you supplied when claiming the houseboat. So, look at the parcel name up in the top area of the viewer and make sure it's the name you entered. Once you get onto the houseboat you can either set a new landmark for that location, or even better, set it as your home location. Then, when you come back, you won't end up in the water again. Regarding the music, it most likely was a choice from a prior owner, but it is easy to change or clear - on the "About Land" pop-up box, there is a tab for 'Sound" and you can clear the entry that is currently in there for the stream. Regarding the red scripts, you can use Live Chat to report that, and they can contact the appropriate support staff to resolve that. Here are some links to some Knowledge Base articles that you will probably find helpful:
  7. Yes, if you wanted to keep your 1024 sqm on Mainland, PLUS get one of the new Linden Homes, you would need to pay $7 per month in tier. You can see the monthly costs for various tier levels on your web dashboard (Land Manager -> Land Use Fees) on the bottom part of the page. In this situation you would probably need to go there and click the radio button to agree to an increase up to an additional 1024 sqm per month before trying to claim a new Linden Home (and you would not be charged the $7 per month UNLESS your actual tier amount went higher the free 1024 sqm.) (When looking at the square meters and the costs chart, keep in mind that the free 1024 sqm is added on to the sqm total shown for each cost level. ) If you don't want to pay a monthly tier cost, but still have a new Linden Home, you would need to sell or abandon your mainland, first. Also, one of the new styles - the camper/trailers only uses 512 sqm of tier (but also only as 175 LI available).
  8. I haven't heard of an issue like this before, but you don't happen to have RLV turned on in your viewer, do you? If you do, perhaps it is some type of RLV restriction? If you're not using the LL viewer, you could download that viewer to check to see if the problem still persists.
  9. Chic's suggestion of a very, very thin floor overlay will work if the transparency % is set to just slightly under 100 - as she shows in her screen shot in her post above. I usually use somewhere between 95% and 98%, which still allows you to see the original floor texture just fine. I'm not sure why it doesn't work at full (100%) transparency but once I started setting to just under 100%, I've had it work every time.
  10. I would have thought that setting the texture to transparent should have taken care of the issue. I haven't had this specific problem, but here are some things that came to mind: You mentioned setting the taperback to 0 - are the other sliders in the Style section also set to 0? You might look to see if you have any others in your inventory - sometimes they come with shapes or with mesh heads - there are also some in the library section of inventory (Library -> Clothing -> Initial Outfits ...) Sometimes they are just called just brows or eyebrows, so you might want to search in your inventory for 'brows' to pick up the name variations. You might want to try wearing some of the others and see if you have the same problem. Someone else will probably be along later on to add to the comments here with other suggestions or solutions.
  11. I figured I'd need a name that was different, in order to not be taken already, so I played around with different combinations of my middle name and other female names from my family, ending up with my middle name and the first name of one of my grandmothers.
  12. The area is full of public access roads, parks, beaches, open water for boating... use the Map in the viewer to search for one of the regions (Bellfry is a region name you could search for) and when the map displays the regions, click on one of the streets in the map display and click the "teleport' button on the map. Once you have the map up with the Bellisseria regions showing, you can select and teleport to different regions of the area. You can't necessarily walk into houses that belong to others, but you can "cam" in from the street to see what's inside (though I would not do that if there are people on the parcel). There used to be people who had there homes set up as 'open houses' that people could come by and tour. You might want to join one of the Bellisseria groups - such as "Bellisseria Citizens" and ask if there are still open house tours - or if someone would be willing to let you check out the inside of their house. The Bellisseria groups, as far as I'm aware, are open for joining whether or not you have a house their yet.
  13. The picture that shows on the land page is a representative picture for the houseboat, camper, traditional or victorian themes. You can change between the different styles in the theme once you're at your parcel. Also, the landscaping on the land page picture is not the exact landscaping you will have at your parcel - it is not a picture of the specific parcel that you will be getting.
  14. not caring at all that the theater is abandoned... or that the only music is in my head...
  15. Just to add some clarification, the only premium perk that you have to give up at the time you downgrade to basic is the ability to own a Linden Home, own a mainland parcel, or donate land tier to a group. The other premium perks stay in affect until the original term of the premium membership runs out. (And if you should change your mind after downgrading, a call to "Live Chat" asking them to cancel the downgrade is all that's needed, and it's something they usually do immediately during the Live Chat session).
  16. For the future, if you find some abandoned land that you'd like to be able to buy, you can also submit a support ticket requesting to buy the land. (See https://community.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/english/abandoned-land-r1034/ ) Depending on the size and location, LL may still decide to put it up for auction, but you may luck out and have it set to sale to you directly. My experience has been that it's taken a few days to hear back with a response on way or the other on the support case to purchase abandoned land.
  17. relaxed, at home, after an afternoon of dancing
