As a creator I can tell you setting perms has got trickier. Rez a prim and make a script inside it. Set the script perms to yes copy only. Set the prim perms to yes copy yes mod. Now take it to inv. Hey presto ! The Yes Mod has been switched off ! The prim itself is now yes copy only. Now the Yes Mod has to be set once again with the prim in Inv using right click and Properties. I doubt every creator has cottoned on to this yet.

Right click and 'take copy'. Copy of build goes to inv. Remember to give part builts a suitable name or version number etc for when u rez it out again from inv

All animations have a 'priority'. A Priority 4 animation file will overide a priority 3 animation file. So , you wont have to always turn it off, but its good practice to get in the habit.

We tried opensim, as an alternative backup to SL. The place was dripping with copybotted items from SL. We walked out on it never returned.
