  1. If people want to debate the merits of one viewer over another, they are welcome so to do somewhere else. However, Viewer Wars are very much off-topic for this thread.
  2. Gentle reminder that this thread is, as its name suggests, about Pride in SL, not about Pride generally and certainly not about wider culture wars and conspiracy theories. Please stay on topic.
  3. My resident account was a mentor at one point (not the old Mentors, but at one of the hubs where new users rez) and I have to say that's not my experience. Sometimes I'd get a couple of questions later in IMs, but normally after I'd got people started they'd had enough of me and that was the last I heard of them.
  4. Friendly reminder that a detailed and lengthy debate with an individual poster in the thread about particular points of dispute is, if it must be pursued, probably best carried on outside the public forum.
  5. I think if you look at the application form you'll find it says
  6. I think this thread has run its course.
  7. Let's assume that, for the foreseeable future, Mentors aren't going to be remunerated. If people want to debate whether Mentors should be paid, I'd rather they did in a separate thread.. I'd like to restrict this thread to a discussion of what the programme should look like, and whether or not it's a good idea.
  8. Please can we stipulate, for the purposes of this discussion, that LL has the legal side of things covered? Unless, that is, someone who's qualified in US employment law thinks they're not? I ask because I think a discussion of what Mentors Programme should be like, and what it should avoid, is probably going to be a lot more interesting and constructive than a technical debate about a specialist area of law that probably very few of us know in any detail.
  9. Since BilliJo's question has now been answered, it seems a good time to close the thread.
  10. You're right that I'm only the messenger. I simply drew this thread to the attention of Governance and have shared their response. If, however, anyone has concerns about the actual content of any ad boards they encounter in-world, rather than the hypothetical ad boards under discussion here, they should report them and let Governance take it from there. I would, though, point out that, by default, residents' maturity settings are set to General and Moderate (I created a new account to double-check this) and, unless the resident has previously taken the positive decision that they want to encounter Adult content and changed their setting, the teleport will fail and they'll see this So no one will actually encounter Adult content unless they've indicated that's what they want to happen.
  11. I've checked this with Governance and they tell me that, so long as it's not being advertised as an Adult event, it's OK. So stick to describing the non-adult activities on offer and you should be OK, even though visitors may encounter Adult activities there, too. Hope this helps.
  12. Some of us do, but I really don't know how many.
  13. Entertaining though some of the derails certainly are, I think it would a good idea to keep the thread more or less on topic, at least if people want to keep it open, which I assume we all do.
  14. It would be good to hear ideas that don't involve micro-parcels -- I think that topic has been very thoroughly explored recently.
  15. I think this thread has run its course. If anyone wants to start a thread on how LL might improve the Mainland, then please feel free to do so.
  16. I think Scylla's point was that she thinks LL ignore Abuse Reports about particular WW2 combat RP groups, which I think is on topic, but I agree that the discussion needs to stick with SL and not go off onto wider issues.
  17. On this note, I think, sadly, that it's probably time to bring the thread to a close.
  18. Fascinating though this discussion of firearms in space certainly is (and I'm now wondering about the implications of recoil in zero or low gravity) I'm not sure how on topic it is. Let's please stick with Social Casinos.
  19. I think this thread is drifting some way away from the original topic, which is News on Age Verification in Utah - Would Second Life be impacted?
  20. The blog post will, I am told, be updated once the map has updated and it's possible to TP to the region with a slurl, but in the meantime, make your way to Carrollton Bay and then approach the region from there.
  21. I think the thread has now reached the point where everything that can usefully be said about the topic has been said, so it's an appropriate time to close it.

  23. Please let's stick to the original topic, the pros and cons of banning bots from the Mainland. If people really want to have yet another debate about banlines and security orbs, they should conduct it in a new thread, not here.
