  1. I don't think you can have held down the left mouse button for long enough. Hold it down for 10 seconds (time it if necessary) before releasing it. If that doesn't work, drop me a message and I'll take a look, but I'm pretty sure that's the problem. We're working on a tool to unfreeze all the house controllers remotely, but until that's ready the long-touch should fix it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  2. I think all that can usefully be said about the topic has been said, so I'm closing this thread.
  3. Tempers seem to be getting rather frayed, and I've had to remove several posts. Please, remember the forum guidelines: For what it's worth, I think a new thread on "How does your avatar look when enhanced by AI?" might be a very good idea, not least since it could be argued that this thread is supposed to be about How does your avatar look today? rather than How can third-party software enhance images of your avatar today? Those seem to me to be two different, though clearly related and equally valid and interesting, topics. But that's just a suggestion rather than any sort of official ruling. Whatever you post, though, please keep let's keep things civil.
  4. SSP83X is where Dyna and I tend to work when we're not working elsewhere. We could be working on any number of things. Could be house controllers but could be a lot more besides, not always Linden Homes related.
  5. At this point, or so I understand it, reflections aren't supposed to be used for making mirrors (though they can be, as noted above, if you don't mind trashing your frame rate and stressing your GPU). At present, they're primarily for changing the way light and shadows are reflected from/projected onto surfaces, so you don't have to bake those into textures. I'm told we may get actual mirrors at some point, but not yet. See the discussion here for more details
  6. That's to be expected -- Linden Lab's engineers have been trying to ensure legacy content doesn't dramatically change its appearance as a result of PBR. We in LDPW are finding, though, that PBR content looks far better than does legacy content made with the Blinn-Phong model. You'll should also find, if you play around with interior probes inside buildings, that you have much more control over local lighting that you did before (so, for example, you can stop lights shining through walls).
  7. There's no need, of course, to attend the user group meetings before submitting a jira request or report. But if someone is thinking of submitting a request and wants to discuss it with the Lindens who will be dealing with it, that's the way to do it. Pinging them in the forums won't do any good.
  8. It's not difficult. 1) Go to https://jira.secondlife.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa. If necessary, log in with your Second Life username and password. 2) Click the Create button (top of the page, at the right). 3) This opens the Create Issue window. Select Bug Project (BUG) from the project drop down (if it's not already showing) Select "New Feature Request" from the Issue Type drop down (if it's not already showing). Fill in the rest of the form and click "Create".
  9. If you have a feature request or want to report a bug with something, then you should submit a jira about it, which guarantees it will at least be seen by the relevant Lindens. By all means discuss it in the forums first, but don't ping Lindens in your posts in the hope that they'll see your post and act on it -- they won't. Nothing can happen unless you first submit a jira. If you want to discuss your feature request with the relevant Lindens before submitting it, then you should do that at the relevant in-world user group meeting, where you're sure to find the people who'll be dealing with the feature request if and when you later submit it.
  10. You can't stop other people from seeing your posts, I'm afraid. Nor can you prevent their reacting to them. As far as I know, the forum software doesn't allow it.
  11. That baffles me. The fact you're getting the message tells me the bucket is working. Am I correct in thinking that your HUD works on most parcels and fails only on a few? I can think of some circumstances in which the HUD might not hear/respond to messages from the bucket, but none of them would be intermittent -- it would either work or it wouldn't. When this has happened, do you remember if it was on the first parcel you tried after attaching the HUD/logging in, or was the HUD working properly and then it suddenly stopped? And did you do anything between trying it on a parcel where it didn't work and trying it on a parcel where it did (changing regions, reloging, etc)? If anyone can send me a slurl for a parcel where this is happening, I'll check it out and try to fix it for next year, but at the moment I can't do anything because I simply don't have enough information and I don't have the time to try to find a parcel myself.
  12. It looks that way, but it's a pathcut, hollowed and sliced prim, 32 metres long. All you can see is the visible bit. This is where the root actually is: That's with "edit linked" checked. If I uncheck it, the cross-hairs revert to the centre of the tree.
  13. When were doing our post-release checks on random regions we looked for unowned parcels on which to test the rezzers, and deliberately left tree houses there when we'd finished. Maybe it was one of those.
  14. It could be that you were clicking something else without realising it. I've noticed that quite often the actual size of the mesh on which a flower or leaf is displayed is considerably larger than the visible part of the flower or leaf texture, so you may be clicking on that instead of the bucket. Quite often when I was camming round checking things with the Fantasy Tree Houses before we released them I found myself clicking part of the tree rather than the door or window I wanted to touch, until I actually flew up (or climbed up the rope -- more fun) to stand in front of whatever it was I was trying to open and close.
  15. The HUD and the bucket do communicate, even on no-script parcels, because the HUD script calls llTakeControls However, because of an oversight, we neglected to call llTakeControls in the script that displays the total, which is in a child prim. That will be remedied next year. That having been said, the only communication between the HUD and the bucket is when the bucket is touched, at which point it pings the toucher's HUD using llRegionSayTo, to confirm they're wearing a HUD (and tells them to go and get one if it doesn't receive a timely response), and then again after it's finished checking the toucher hasn't previously collected anything from that parcel and updating the toucher's score, to tell the HUD to re-read the updated score from the server. That's why this rather puzzles me Unless, as diamond suggests above, the bucket is on a no-script parcel and you've attached the HUD after entering that parcel, I don't see how that can happen. If someone can drop me a slurl for a parcel where this is happening, either in a private message here or in an IM, I'll check it out.
  16. If buckets aren't responding, try again after the next round of region restarts. That should get them running again. Or message me with the region name, and I'll restart it (but please first ask the parcel owner to re-rez the bucket and. message me only if that doesn't work). We've made a note of the various issues and they should be fixed for next year's event.
  17. Sorry about all the problems people have been having. We've made a note of them, and they should be fixed for next year's event.
  18. Please do not use these forums to make allegations about named avatars or regions.
  19. A scripted object belonging to you can take money out of your account and give it to someone else if you rez it and grant it debit permissions. It can't, though, check your L$ balance, either with regular LSL or with RLV. Neither experience permissions nor RLV can automatically grant debit permissions to a script -- they have to be granted manually, by clicking OK in the big scary debit permissions dialog box. Once an object has debit permissions it could drain your account very rapidly, using a method I won't spell out but which will readily occur to most scripters, which is why you should never grant debit permissions to an object someone else gives you unless you're very sure you trust them, but it can't check your L$ balance and remove the lot in one go. If the person who'd given you the L$ filed an abuse report, the Governance Team would investigate the matter. The outcome -- and consequences for for you, if any -- would, I assume, depend on the specific circumstances surrounding the case. I'm locking the thread, since the question has been answered and because tempers seem to be getting frayed.
