  1. Some disputes here are now past the point at which, if they are to be continued, they should be continued in private messages or IMs. Continuing them here will result. at the very least, in the posts being removed .
  2. I think some of the debates in this thread are nearing the point at which it would be better for the disputants to conduct them in personal messages or IMs.
  3. While I think a discussion about both the advantages of Region Search and the objections to what @Coffee Pancakecalls "firestorms brute force kick the crap out of the region approach" would be very valuable, I think it would better held in its own thread.
  4. Since you raise the question, I'll answer it: yes -- find the object using Pathfinding>Region Objects, open the edit window (CTRL 3), and select your object in the Region Objects window. Then you should be able to edit it (there are some distance restrictions that I can never remember, but if you're looking for stuff you've buried in a wall or under the floor you should be good). Or you can use the buttons in the Region Objects window to take it back into your inventory, or return it to yourself, without needing the edit window. But you're right, let's try to stick to the mentorship programme rather than discussions about viewers.
  5. When residents of Bellisseria ask me that question I refer them to Build>Pathfinding>Region Objects. Works in both the Official Viewer and Firestorm, and has the advantage that it shows only objects that you can return, which is generally what you need when you've lost something.
  6. First you need to abandon your Linden Home. Then you need to find and buy some land. It's important to do it that way round -- first abandon Linden Home, and only then buy Mainland -- because tier (land ownership charges) is assessed on the maximum amount of land you own at any point in the billing cycle so, if at any time you own more than the 1024 square metres that your Linden Home occupies (unless it's a camper) included as part of your premium membership, even for a couple of minutes, you'll find yourself charged for the excess at the end of the month.
  7. You need to follow this advice immediately Linden Lab Official:Account Security
  8. No. The Welcome Hub complex, of which Motown is a part, is open to everyone. Everyone's welcome.
  9. It seems to me perfectly possible to distinguish between, on the one hand, posts discussing International Women's Day, or Pride, in SL and, on the other, posts discussing International Women's Day or Pride in general. It seems to me similarly possible to distinguish between posts discussing International Women's Day in SL and feminism and women's rights in general. Posts that fail to observe this distinction are likely to be removed.
  10. Difficult though it is, I must ask people to concentrate on the forum topic, International Women's Day in SL, and try not to allow the thread to morph into a discussion of wider social issues. Linden Lab Official:Forum Participation Guidelines
  11. I had to remove some posts, and replies quoting them, because what should have been calm discussions about technical issues seemed to have become somewhat emotionally charged. Since your post is still there, you may draw your own conclusion.
  12. Friendly reminder that the Community Participation Guidelines say
  13. I've just removed several posts because tempers seemed to be getting rather frayed. As the Community Guidelines say, Sometimes this is best done by stepping away from the keyboard for a while before posting. At other times, as has been noted, it's best done simply by ignoring particular posts or posters.
  14. If people want to debate the merits of one viewer over another, they are welcome so to do somewhere else. However, Viewer Wars are very much off-topic for this thread.
  15. Gentle reminder that this thread is, as its name suggests, about Pride in SL, not about Pride generally and certainly not about wider culture wars and conspiracy theories. Please stay on topic.
  16. My resident account was a mentor at one point (not the old Mentors, but at one of the hubs where new users rez) and I have to say that's not my experience. Sometimes I'd get a couple of questions later in IMs, but normally after I'd got people started they'd had enough of me and that was the last I heard of them.
  17. Friendly reminder that a detailed and lengthy debate with an individual poster in the thread about particular points of dispute is, if it must be pursued, probably best carried on outside the public forum.
  18. I think if you look at the application form you'll find it says
  19. I think this thread has run its course.
  20. Let's assume that, for the foreseeable future, Mentors aren't going to be remunerated. If people want to debate whether Mentors should be paid, I'd rather they did in a separate thread.. I'd like to restrict this thread to a discussion of what the programme should look like, and whether or not it's a good idea.
  21. Please can we stipulate, for the purposes of this discussion, that LL has the legal side of things covered? Unless, that is, someone who's qualified in US employment law thinks they're not? I ask because I think a discussion of what Mentors Programme should be like, and what it should avoid, is probably going to be a lot more interesting and constructive than a technical debate about a specialist area of law that probably very few of us know in any detail.
  22. Since BilliJo's question has now been answered, it seems a good time to close the thread.
