  1. Just send all the Lindens and Moles a friend request. Problem solved You can not go below 64m DD in the SL viewer. I struggled last year at the SL19B opening speech with my old potato system. Only 16 GB system memory and 2GB VRAM. I also attended as a low lag kittycat, 10K complexity and no mesh anywhere. I had everything turned down that I could in graphics. They had the large capacity regions then too, but it was all client side lag that caused so many to crash after a few minutes there. Patch lost audio inworld, and lindens were crashing on stage too. I don't expect much improvement on June 22 at noon, slt, this year. I ended up watching it on YouTube, after an attempted double click TP landed me on stage, instead of the front lawn, and I could not move away. After a nasty IM from one of the Linden enforcers to "get off the stage", I hit the hardware reset button on the computer to get free, and logged back to the You Tube stream.
  2. SL Events listing is not the same as a group notice from a club. SL Events sends nothing to anyone unless someone searching requests a reminder notice (which does work we are told.) Guests that don't want your event spam can block it for either group chat or group notices, or both, on a group by group basis. Of course the SL Viewer does not have the group by group feature, but fortunately only 2% of our VIPs use it, or is it 0.5%, I forget. Oh yes, it is zero percent. Only zero day old griefers use the SL Viewer, and they get perma banned the first day from our estate. One reason why hosts and club managers do not post events in SL Events is the cost. 50$L/event and you have 40 unique events/week. Event posting should be free, as it once was. The so called reason for charging an event listing fee, to stop Adult sex club spam, did not work. It had the opposite effect - the sex spammers pay the fees to post every hour because they charge for their sex services. The legit clubs and events stop posting because of the extra cost. This is so typical of SL - has there ever been a Linden who actually ran an active SL club 24/7? Another SL Event Linden rule that makes no sense, is to prevent any notice from being listed unless it is submitted at least 2 hours before the event. They even killed the workaround for that last year. Performers, hosts, and DJ's often cancel at the last moment, its called having a Real Life, and you need to change the notice to reflect who is playing at the event. You can not do it in SL Events. Stupid stupid rule. Clubs have back up staff to fill in, and you cannot list the changes because of a silly time rule from the Lindens.
  3. The album cover HUD could use some better resolution too. WinAmp had better album graphics 20 years ago! Note the tiny buttons on the bottom. Those select one of five playlist MoTown genres. This is not streaming music, but play on demand media, so everyone hears music from the beginning of a song, and not necessarily the same song. Nothing like a live club stream. DJ's have nothing to worry about here.
  4. Sort of - I hate kid web designers with 10-10 vision. The resolution is still too low for even Superwoman to read the menus though:
  5. That bridge looks well supported to me. Maybe you caught it during construction. Is there a 3 full region long bridge over all water anywhere else in SL?
  6. That is the old Welcome Island, not the new Belli-Hub. Seems the new Welcome Hub center has the same orientation plus mentors. Maybe Welcome Island will be decommissioned. Why send the newbies to an old hub?
  7. Look at the suckers on those sea monsters. This is a G-rated mannequin, no pink parts or cracks showing. Oh for a few magic markers.
  8. If LL hides Event search, LL is the problem. Not every newbie wants to search for gay sex bars, which seems to be your complaint. If you simply UNCHECK Adult in the Search menu, all that crap you claim is over running legit events is gone. And if you search during US daytime and early evening, the M rated events overwhelm the adult. You can also search by category. Entertainment and Live Music still produce good results, and it's too bad more clubs don't list there. No one is forcing you or Rowan to use SL Events. So why even comment on something you never use? The OP wondered if it still works, not that you can't find your clubs there. Talk about railroading a topic.
  9. I use them every time I want to find a club to explore. But then, my partner and I are social animals, and support talent at other clubs. Live Music events are usually in SL Events, and listed for each performer, along with their bio. Since LL just uses the most popular destinations now, most don't know SL Events exist. That happens when you hide a feature and make it impossible to use for SL viewer users, while favoring the most popular clubs on the log in page.
  10. And now we know why the Social Casino - it is part of this new nine region Welcome Hub estate. I wondered if the wall behind the front casino entrance was ever going to be removed, and now there is a bridge there, to walk around the rest of the welcome area. It all seems to be open to the public. SL goes commercial mainstream... The Casino was also moved from its earlier location, in case you bookmarked it: Social Casino
  11. This depends on the club policies, the management, and what you require your hostesses to post for Notices. Some clubs leave it up to the DJ, performer, or hostess to decide. Then it usually never gets done. 90% of our club staff are not Premium members - they don't need supervised state housing in Belli and they are not original mesh designers who need free uploads. Without Premium it costs 50 $L to send a single Events notice. That's the reason why the hostess that used to send notices for every event, stopped sending them entirely at our club. They were free of course until LL started to nickel and dime everyone. Some of the largest clubs have no policy, and only a couple DJ's bother to use SL Events. The managers don't care, because the club is usually full with 70 avatars. They get their club listed in the LL club destinations every week, and attract newbies and all the oldies trying to pick up the newbies. Some clubs have had the same clientele for the last 15 years. They show up every night that their church doesn't have a basement Bingo game. Hard to find anyone younger than 5000 days old there. That's probably why you don't see many Gay club listings - they already know where to go by word of mouth, or something like that
  12. Sigh... SL Events still work fine and are not broken if you use Firestorm and the classic Phoenix interface. Just because the SL Viewer and some TPV viewers use the V2 interface does not mean it is broken for FS users. Here is an up to date listing for Live Music from Firestorm Events. And Searching and keywords also work fine. If you mean does the "Remind me" button work, I don't know, never had to use it. If it was broken I would think there would be a bug report already filed. You can also find SL Events on a web page, https://secondlife.com/my/community/events/index.php?lang=en-US But it has a lousy search method (if any) so just never use the web search. You will be paging for hours searching. Use what actually still works. Don't expect LL to ever go back to the V1 SL Event page. The peeps who designed that working system have all left LL and been replaced by a new generation that thinks they know everything.
  13. You can have anything you want in your home in a Moderate region. And you can do anything you can imagine in your home in a Moderate region. You can also be butt naked with stuff hanging out (limp) on your lawn or beach in a Moderate region. You cannot be doing a sex act in public in a moderate region. That's about the only difference between Zindra and moderate regions. The owner of the Moderate region can also have their own rules, since they own the region. Nothing to do with LL however. LL will never openly sponsor adult sex in a Linden owned region. The venture capitalists that own LL might want to sell SL to Facebook or Google someday...
  14. Land prices in Zindra are controlled by land barons that never actually sell the land. They can ask any crazy price they want. Those same properties are usually for rent for about $1L/prim or less, the same as mainland. The prices have nothing whatsoever to do with demand for sex. You can TP to any sex club from anywhere in SL. No advantage to Zindra at all, if thats your intention, 24/7 public sex.
  15. That would be the most interesting question to ask, if they would answer. Broad non-specific questions get broad non-specific answers. Best way to improve mainland is ban structures between 100 and 1200 meters above land elevation, and clean up the junk left between 20 m and 100 meters. Residents can't help with that. Using Firestorm to derender ugly neighbor objects probably won't be in their answer either. BTW those slots in the social casino seem to hit an unusual number of spins. You can play them all day and stay even now.
  16. Nope - It is about to burst onto the scene, once the mentors add it to can't miss destinations for newbies.
  17. After 19 pages, plus those posts hidden by the moles, no one has suggested the ultimate solution to not really paying the volunteers, but still giving them something for their time. Pay the mentors in Social Casino coins! 10,000 coins/hour sounds fair enough. Then, since there will be many boring off hours when the mentor is waiting for a victim newbie, install those slots and blackjack tables in the mentor's SL location. This will keep the mentors busy and not dozing off during their shift. Adding how to cheat at blackjack could also be a plus course for the new resident. And another plus, it is all G-rated! I thought there was a purpose for the social casino, and now we know.
  18. Well maybe because each region Detail has the region listed as Region/Estate in a tab, you can say that one region is an estate. However the conventional terminology for an estate is more than one region. At least that is how the SL Wiki defines it: An Estate is a collection of Regions that can be managed as a set. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Estates#:~:text=An Estate is a collection,be managed as a set. Regions plural, not one region. Then it is called a private region. If you own more than one region you can refer to them as part of your estate. And there was a time when the Lindens called regions, sims, too.
  19. You certainly can if they are arranged as a private estate. There are many Private island connected regions - they are called Estates. Fruit Island for instance has over 200 adjacent interconnected sims and waterways. It is all private regions, and is no where near mainland. Anyone can buy multiple private regions and have SL move them to be adjacent and connected (for a fee). Each region in their estate is 256x256 meters. If SL had massive regions, a private estate could go all seamless. But there would be massive issues with adequate LI if only one region made from 200 full regions were made seemless. Here is the Fruit Island map. Every square is a full region:
  20. And they are still 256x256 regions, with adjacent region crossings. So not seemless. The SL19 BD regions for the main Linden speeches last June about the future plans for SL, used 3 of these extended LI regions, all adjacent. With about 80 avatars per region, the lag was horrible if you tried to move. Grab a seat, point the cam at the stage, and hope you don't crash. The lindens were crashing too, if they tried to cam the 250 in the crowd. You seem to have missed Animats point about mixing large regions with the usual SL region too. Those Elite regions also were still limited to 30,000 LI each. They added more script capacity to handle more avatars in a small region. What if a seemless region was 2048 m on a side? That would be the size of 64 normal regions. 64 private regions at 30K LI each is 1920K LI, or about 880 LI per region if 30k LI was the region max. That is a rather sparse landscape for a full region, which was animats point.
  21. SInce everyone is speculating about seemless, I think it means "simply" larger regions, so no region crossing at all would exist in a seemless region. SL could start a new large region world which was mainly for gaming and seemless, just one gigantic region. They could recall a few Sansor employees to get them started... Region crossings assume you have adjacent regions, and that is not seemless. Trying to combine large gaming seemless regions with the present 256x256m regions, would probably break a lot of things. I recall an ex-Linden saying it would require a new design for SL and was impracticable. Of course Sansar was still fresh in his memory. There are some new seemless projects for mmo games, but still in the future. Ubisoft Massive's Star Wars Game Will Reportedly Feature A "Seamless Universe" CRAFTOPIA – SEAMLESS WORLD UPDATE RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT There are many seemless small contained mmo games already, usually for an X-box or on Steam. These have nothing in common with the massive SL grid.
  22. I see you removed some of the OP's posts, so I never got an answer to what he meant by seemless. Love's post was humor, not a technical discussion.
  23. Define seamless world, and give some examples. You seem to be the expert on seamless worlds. Send LL a JIRA to make the grid seamless and they should get right on it.
  24. Violet still has an old world charm. Some Barnesworth Anubis original prim bushes (texture on a half sphere) are still in the garden areas. In the central hub I only found 3 attractive nude ladies, another with questionable gender, and a robot. All being quiet. Typical G-rated Linden region I guess. The signs and LM's to other Linden sites was useful. Even listing Linden Realms as a place to earn lindens by collecting crystals.
  25. ^^^ This is what will improve retention. The 3rd stage of mentoring, the "buddy system", where someone actually shows you what SL is about, and puts you in a home area where you can ask others questions. I don't agree that showing a newbie how to walk and run and turn has anything to do with retention. Show them the real SL, not some newbie mentoring center from strangers with a script, and they will want to figure out the rest. Finding someone who will spend the time with you is the problem. That's why newbies often ask about SLex first. Even an escort will help you understand SL on a more personal level than a 2hr shift mentor at a first landing point center. My first venture to a help center was at Violet. A friendly lady was watching me try to change clothes and took pity on me. She invited me to her fancy home on her full sim, where she told me about her SL job as a "private stripper". She gave me a free demo too (where I learned how to dance), and then took me to a Freeebie store where I could find avatars and clothes that were a big step up from the SL schoolboy default I was using. I soon lost track of her, since once I got out in the SL world everyone was friendly and helpful. I also met another person at Violet who loved to chat. My first friend actually - and we spent many hours discussing the state of just about everything. She also told me those little huts at the edge of Violet were actually private homes, and all I had to do was set my Home to one, and it was mine. That was bad advice I found out, but funny at the time, since it was in viewing range of the central hub there. I thought I had privacy in my "own" little home on Violet.
