  1. LL needs to implement a LOVE button**. I'd use it for this topic/OP. There's definitely been a lot of negative feedback around lately, and I won't flog a dead horse anymore than it has been. But I will echo your sentiment, though it is getting late and my brain is starting to fade so this list probably won't be as comprehensive as it otherwise should be. Things I'm thankful for: * For the friends I have made in SL and in RL that I met here and still talk to regularly to this day. For the chance to travel overseas to meet in person. To share their lives. To genuinely connect with people is something I can't put a price on. Without SL we simply would never have met. * For being able to experience motherhood on any scale. As someone who medically cannot have children and isn't in a position to financially adopt or foster, I cannot tell you the sheer satisfaction and joy I get from the simple task of cuddling a newborn babe and hearing it laugh. This experience is priceless and something I will eternally be grateful to SL, as well as the baby creators, and many scripters for. * The ability to talk to people all around the world almost any hour of the day or night or find a niche depending on my mood. * The ability to create. I've learned things I've never done before, such as mesh and script, and again that's a direct result of being in SL. * The many hours, weeks, months, years I have spent writing immersive stories that have fired my imagination and stayed with me long after the stories, players and regions have gone. * The ability to represent myself as something better; be it younger, skinnier, better skin, perkier parts, longer hair, whatever. * The many hours I've spent shopping for things I wish I could afford and will likely never own in real life. * The environments and houses that I can make feel like a home immediately without all the RL costs, time, effort, legal fees, paper work, mortgage repayments, and so on. * The many random events that make me sit back sometimes and just shake my head and laugh because it could only happen in SL. * The ability to sit back and be somewhere else after a stressful day IRL. Time that's expressly mine on a vast and limitless landscape. * To memorialize my RL pets in virtual monuments to in essence keep their memory alive. Its nice to have that option, to just have some acknowledgement that something special to me existed in the first place and will exist perhaps for many years to come, even out there in cyberspace. Again I'm sure there's more but brain needs sleep. It will be a sad day when SL closes its doors and not something I care to think of too much since it's been a constant in my life now for so long. I know nothing lasts forever. But for now it serves its purpose and despite whatever drawbacks or hiccups happen along the road it's still a place I enjoy to be. The day it becomes anything else is the day I have to take stock, reevaluate my priorities, or walk away. Thanks @Alyona Su for this much needed topic! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ (** and get your heads out of the gutter, I don't mean THAT kind of button, sheesh! 🤣)
  2. Awwww thank you! Yeah she's adorable. I knew from the second I saw the promotional videos months ago that I would get one, but then I saw talk of the Bellisseria homes and knew I had to get creative in order to have both. If I was forced to decide one or the other I'm not sure which way I would go. As it is things are cutting very close. If LL releases larger plots with this supposedly super-duper premium plan then things may be better. It's a balancing act is all I can say! Some people have actually told me they have TWO babies in their Bellisseria homes. I have no idea how, unless they decorate sparsely, and I couldn't do that. Like anything else regarding decorating its a choice between what you can live with and what you can do without. And thanks @Nivaya Barbosa; you posted while I was mid-rant. Regarding LI I think it's more to do with tris (the triangles that make up mesh shapes) since more are needed to create a curved shape with smooth/fluid joints generally speaking than a flat non-flexible shape. I could be wrong but that's my understanding on it. I've compared the scripts between models myself; the animesh has far less script weight than the old sculpties - even some of my furnishings! (FYI - I took the scripts in said furniture out so that I could link it to the rest of the link-sets where possible anyway). And yes, no consequences to not feeding or caring for them. They don't die. Nothing bad happens. You just don't earn tokens, that's it.
  3. Yes, she's a doll that moves. She has needs that you have to fulfil daily to earn reward points or "tokens" in order to purchase items or toys for her to play with. Zooby is a brand that has been around for many years, though they are best known for their sculpt babies and animals. You will be able to find Zooby on the Marketplace (the sculpt babies are no longer being sold but I believe the animals still are). My baby is of the newer animesh variety that was recently released. She's essentially a "fake person" though not a bot, meaning she's not controlled by another avatar. She's scripted to move and do things but has far more limitations than a baby or child avatar, yes. Zooby mesh child avatars are avatars. You don't rez them like you would say a sofa. They are mesh shapes worn by an avatar to look like a child; so they don't take up land impact. Yikes that LI indeed! That picture I posted isn't 79 LI. There I think she was closer to 130 LI, it varies according to what attachments I add to her; every piece of clothing or shoes or hair style changes her LI. She will never be any lower than 79 and that is bald with just a diaper on PLUS an additional 3 or 4 LI just for the "part" that rezzes her (luckily it disappears after she's rezzed). So needless to say she doesn't wear much in my Bellisseria home, just a diaper, hair, and sometimes a shirt. That's. It. Anyway back on track, I had no idea windows couldn't open in houseboats. Strange design choice considering the Traditional homes do (and they were released the same time). At least you have the pier/decking areas to get fresh air? They do seem like large spaces to decorate too. Sadly too laggy for me, but I applaud those who can pull off decorating them well!
  4. Alyona is right. Though I notice you've added tags there at the top; BDSM, Gor, Slave, Village, etc. Don't rely on these in place of writing actual details. You'd be surprised just how many people don't even look at them. Beyond that, they're just keywords with their own multitude of possible interpretations. And on top of that, there are already a multitude of regions/RP sims, and parcels based on the same subjects. You need to give people an idea of what sets you apart from all the rest, if anything. Regarding an application: may I suggest an alternative? Applications are the equivalent of RL Resumes or Curricula Vitae. These applications may look good on paper, but in actual fact tell you nothing useful. Or be full of lies. Probably both. You're not going to get the right fit if you base your criteria on words alone. I'd suggest a more low-key approach. Suggest people contact you. Talk with them. See what they are like to deal with since these same people will be helping support your vision. You want to see how they deal with others, how they deal with you, or whether you sense ***-kissery from the start and get the feeling that this person who sounded good on paper is actually incapable of conflict resolution, or has the attention span of a toddler hyped up on caffeine, or can't write for spit. If you get a good vibe from them, have a trial basis. Sure some people will balk and that and leave because they don't care for your region, they just want the power that comes with being staff, or power players, or whatever. Also as a last note; don't ever rely on a few people to support the weight of a region. If something unforeseen happens and they leave then your vision goes with them. Be flexible regarding canon roles and have your lore as such that personnel change of key seats is seamless and as non-disruptive to the overall story arc where possible. Anyway, best of luck. And if you haven't already I'd suggest reading the RP subforum NOT to advertise of course, but to get some idea where your chosen market sits compared to public demand: https://community.secondlife.com/forums/forum/320-role-play/
  5. ^ That. Aka: almost one-third my land impact. Right there. But soooooooo adorable! (Thanks @iBrat )
  6. Probably the best answer I've read in the forums that could cover a multitude of topics actually. Kudos! 👍 Not sure if you're venting or wanted an actual reply, but I'll share my opinion for the sake of keeping things on topic and conversation going. First line: Probably because like SL in general it's always changing, growing, and evolving (especially lately). So the means to convey all that information is, at times, second to these changes, or as a direct result of them. That also means there's a lot of "catch up" or patch work going on since it's impossible to anticipate everything or even some things. And like most things progress takes time, effort and personnel. And right now all of those may already be under considerable strain trying to manage the points you listed in your OP. Line two: See above. Also more likely to get a highly polished product if they pulled the ENTIRE product offline a few days/weeks/months and did the overhaul you describe so that it doesn't interfere with user functionality or access, or they don't get distracted or bogged down with real time issues. Then take more time for QC and bug fixing. Way I see it, it's much easier to strip a motor when the car is not running, but you can't get people from A to B if the car isn't moving. The choice you make will effect you or your passengers; pull the car off the road and lose business, or keep making repairs on the fly and hope it holds up like it always has in the past. It's a crap analogy but point made hopefully. Given the fact this "vehicle" has run (to whatever standard) the last 16 years and is still running means the higher-ups would be wary of deviating too far from a method that to them as a company has worked in the past, regardless what you, I, or the average LL employee thinks. Does any of that mean I completely agree with their methods? No. But at the end of the day we vote with our feet. And while your point about wading through the information/misinformation is valid (to a point), it also works to highlight that sometimes when the company doesn't get it right or there's a significant shortfall there's always others who can offer a hand and help each other out. And THAT is what SL is/was/should be all about; community. I predict the backlash to that would be; it's not "our job" to do LL's job for them. Bottom line if you're not happy, find another 16 year old virtual sandbox more polished this and be happy there. It's a game/form of entertainment/choice/option/pastime/hobby/etc. There are far bigger things in the world we really should be worried about. For the record, everyone is entitled to their opinion so I am not attempting to insult or insinuate yours isn't valid. We're just allowed to disagree Anyway I could be utterly wrong, and I am frequently, but that's my take on it at least. Summed it up beautifully. For the record NOT a fan of the Tilia changes insofar as sending my info overseas, but like Chic I'm electing to find my own way through it. It's not a deal breaker yet. Take each day, and each new change or development, as it comes.
  7. Agrees. Oh. So. Much. 1) Seems a sad trend a lot of topics go that way after the first few pages, and it's not always new members doing so. I've actually had people comment on my posts before 'Sorry, didn't read the whole thing' but then reply anyway. Why bother? Is their opinion so important, or their time so short, it supersedes all else? 😕 2) Probably stems from the belief on some level that their posts probably get lost in aforementioned topics, so LL cannot possibly miss opinions that are posted as individual topics, and drop all else to solve their issue post-haste, right? 🙄 Another peeve I'll throw in there that relates to both 1 and 2: Negativity. I get that sometimes its entertaining to read posts along this vein. But sometimes some posts are just mean for the sake of being mean and by no means constructive or helpful at all. Sure people get tired and frustrated of having to answer the same question that they literally just answered. But do they have to answer again, and with some snarky comment (done on purpose, not accidental miscommunication) just to convey how personally irritated they are? Can't people just walk away and let someone else answer? Apparently not. Throwing insults makes one look witty. And its a step higher in the post count. And because reputation matters after all. Just wish common courtesy mattered more. One more for the pile: That whole TL;DR mentality. It's so prevalent now we as a society can't even type full words let alone sentences so we have to abbreviate as much as we can to acronyms. I shouldn't have to need Google translate just to engage in small talk, but it's the road down which we're headed. No wonder there is so much room for miscommunication and lack of human connection despite the fact that we're all, technologically speaking, connected. I look back at all the literary greats of the past; what we have today is the equivalent of alphabet soup. I wouldn't be surprised at all if in 20 years time conversation sounds almost binary; "HRU?" "OK. U?" "SSDD." "Y?" "IDFK. FML." "LOL." "STFU." "JK" "FFS." "ILY." "U2." 😑
  8. Apparently SL has been "dying" since long before I got here. If so it's taking a long time to drop.
  9. Agreed. Never was a huge fan of the default viewer but thank heavens for options.
  10. Actually it is in Firestorm because that's exactly what I do. My apologies for not stating that. 🙄
  11. There's a lot of relevant information that can be found over there as @TheaDee mentioned, and I recommend you check that out. To answer your question more directly, according to Patch Linden not that long ago (and you can find his quote on the aforementioned sub-forums I believe) there are no official times for these weekly/small releases. They will "happen when they happen", or to be more specific, could happen any time during the working day (during SL/LL business hours). This is to make sure things flow smoothly before they log for the day, which is understandable. They do have to sleep sometimes The last three releases, from memory, were around 7:00am, 7:00am, and 12:00pm (SLT) if I remember correctly, or at least thereabouts. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays. Some releases have been one region. Some have released two. Take that as you will. Larger releases will be announced here with around (possibly?) 24 hours notice: It's also worth noting that you might be lucky enough to pick up one of the abandoned houses and houseboats between these times. It's just a matter of refreshing regularly, clicking that button fast, and of course, patience. Good luck
  12. Likely the reason WHY the OP wants to get into the new continent. But that reminds me exactly why I left mainland in the first place. *shudders* (Tip: Right-click > More > More > Derender > Temporary/Blacklist is your friend!) Your frustration is common and shared by many lately, and is likely something that will continue on for quite some time. I don't think there's any remedy beyond patience and what you've chosen to do. I also think that if LL could release content quicker, they would. No amount of topics are likely to hasten the process. But it's good vent sometimes. I just hope you get the home you want soon, along with everyone else who wants one. Until then, best of luck You got me. Took me this long to figure out this post generally applies to most forum posts (at least the LH ones) overall. Needs. To. Steal. 😁 👍
  13. There's always a catch. Imagine the taxes! 😱
  14. ^ This is me. And yes, I get the why. I get the need to comply with local laws and regulation. I get all that. It just stings. And the fine print isn't comforting either (though rarely is unless you're legally savvy). It now means as a non-US citizen I can't pay out into a PayPal account as I have been all these years without needing to send the required information. It's one thing to agree to terms and conditions. It's another to send my social security number or ID to another country (and please tell me if I got any of that wrong. I don't mind at all being proven wrong under the right circumstances). That really, sincerely, does not sit well with me. But not much I can do about it. Everything is headed online now. Adapt or get left behind, right? The one line that made this whole thing "easier" to understand was that comparison about trying to withdraw a money from a bank without ID (I don't know who said it, but thanks anyway). Up until now I have been. That make me a bank robber all these years? (Injecting levity. Sue me). In the grand scheme it doesn't overly matter since I don't rely on the kind of money I had been cashing out up to this point to make a RL living from. It was a nice cash-injection on a good week. But now it remains virtual currency - unless I send that info. Great for the game and economy of SL/LL, not so much me or others like me. I can't speak for anyone who does rely on cash-outs from other non-US countries and don't feel comfortable sharing this level of information either, but the public consensus seems to be "sucks to be you, then". SSDD.
  15. See, I'm one of those sticklers for realism in a virtual setting. I absolutely love the details that go into making any residence feel more realistic, whether that's dirty clothes on the floor, dishes in the sink, or even just a trash can. Even as a noob all my rentals had a bathroom, regardless whether or not I used it. It didn't feel like a home without. To some that would seem like a waste of prims, and in a way maybe it is. But to me essential is anything that makes my virtual place feel more like a RL place (even though I know it's just a fantasy, obviously). I enjoy the immersion. I couldn't live in a display home. It has to feel lived in. That's what I like about Bellisseria. Seeing what others do with their homes and houseboats is amazing. Sometimes when it looks real enough it's even inspiring. I'm lucky enough to know a few people who feel the same, so we have a tendency to try and outdo each other when it comes to decorating. It keeps pushing me to do better. I couldn't just rez a few things and "make do". As it stands right at this very minute I still have 100 prims "free". I could go crazy and add more clutter but I've had to show some *gasp!* self-restraint. It's actually so that I can rez my Zooby Animesh baby. Having her makes my house feel even more like a home. Though given this topic is about trying to economize maybe she's not the best example of how since without any attachments she is 79 LI just on her own. (I know, I know... not economical, but I can't help it! Correction: I don't want to XD). Honestly, to each their own. I really don't understand why people choose to rez bathtubs next to beds either, but that's a topic for another day. Those who pay the rent or Premium fees or Tier have the right to do what they like with their prims. I just happen to like wasting mine on pointless stuff that I usually don't use anyway. But at least it looks good (if only to me) and that's all that really matters. 😁
  16. Individualism is one thing. But spending my tier to look at the sex dungeon surrounded by the 60 sqm full bright walls, with 50 breedable cats crowding the yard, and the same YouTube streaming channel playing on a 30 sqm TV, while fifteen fountains and bathtubs all play the same running water sound day in and day out is NOT my idea of fun. Spend a few years renting on mainland and watch your tolerance for neighbourly conduct quickly evaporate. Same goes for those who would venture into others' land just because they can. I wouldn't walk into a strangers house uninvited in real life, I won't do it in Second Life. But some people don't have the same respect for boundaries. If it's an accident that's a different story. That's okay. Accidents happen. If you live close to a public road then accidents are bound to happen given lag or at least vehicle handling (or user error, speaking from experience). I don't generally use ban lines but sometimes they seem to be as disruptive as those who freely invade people's houses. Sadly we don't live in a society where commonsense is common, so standards won't change because we expect or want them to. I think if you live on mainland as a land owner you have the right to choose how you want to "protect" it. But the onus of responsibility is also on you (if you pick land close to a public place like Linden roads) to not obstruct or impede the route for others. Try a little common courtesy; it might catch on. Personally I don't see the difference regardless what height you set it at. If I had to pick a side I would say ideally no ban lines, but set an orb with a reasonable time for someone to get out would probably be the best overall solution. P.S. Went off on a tangent and answered as a whole, as opposed to answering the OP; have no idea about that ability or even if the suggestion would make much difference. *shrugs*
  17. The real travesty would be not having this happen! (I bet when the Moles and Lindens talked about bringing a community together this wasn't what they imagined) 😆
  18. Would you be available for hire, per chance? Just run around the campers screaming as loud as you can and tossing random furnishings for a minute here or there. Just asking for a friend. 🤣
  19. I will admit as the US is waking up and coming online things appeared to have slowed down on this end. After the last few days I can only gauge that for me (AEST/QLD) around 6p.m. onwards has reaped the most hits. I wont go so far as to claim that's the magic number for us Aussies; after all it's still just a matter of luck, being the first one to click that button, and of course, availability.
