  1. Two other things to check: The first is whether you have accepted any Experiences. Quite a few furniture items - beds included - require you to accept an Experience, so that the animations will automatically run when you're seated on the furniture, removing the need to accept animation permissions each time. The other is for any genitalia that you might be wearing. In the Catwa support group in the past we've had multiple similar persistent animation questions from users of both 'The V' and 'The P', so if you wear any kind of genitalia that contains animations, try removing it and then doing all the Reset Skeleton & Animations and Revoke Permissions again. If that fixes it, re-wear the item and check its HUD to disable the animations. The bed(s) that caused the issue might be interactive with specific brands of genitalia, and have set those animations running. (Head-nodding, in particular, could be an oral animation.) If neither of those brings up anything of note, check for any other items you might be wearing that could contain animations. Since you mentioned that 'Developer - Character Test - Test Male' stopped the issue, I suspect it's something you're wearing, as Test Male removes everything and puts you back to the basic noob male avatar.
  2. And five minutes later it's this: Pay attention to the bit I've highlighted in purple.
  3. Since the OP mentioned being "over the Barbie look" (AKA: the kind of perfection or 'model looks' that many strive for in SL), I took their question to mean not exactly avatars that look wholly realistic (e.g. close to real life in the entirety of their appearance) but rather avatars who are unafraid to wear certain more true-to-real-life things, such as eye bags, wrinkles, a bit of additional weight, age spots, etc. Basically, something other than the look of perfection that so many avatars have.
  4. Given the only group in the OP's profile, I may even have said it... accidentallyonpurpose. Indeed. One might even say that it's a bit... fishy?
  5. I'm sure the owner of one of the fishing games in SL will be along shortly to tell you all about it...
  6. Ooh, region restart notice, your time has come! NOBODY would find THIS annoying, after all!
  7. In addition (and to inject a little levity) - I'm amazed that nobody has posted this yet. For shame!
  8. A cookie is a small text file that stores your login data (encrypted) for each website that you visit and have logged into. Cookies all have an expiry date - some of just weeks and some of many years (Google's cookie expiry used to be notoriously long, expiring in 2038, and it's now still something like 2 years) - which is why after a while you may need to re-enter your login information into a website again. If - as others have mentioned - you set your browser to clear your cookies at the end of each browsing session, you will automatically be logged out of every website and have to enter that information all over again each time after clearing cookies. Every single website that you log into will have placed a cookie on your computer. It's highly likely that you have thousands of them. Cookies have been in use for a long as websites have had logins. Some cookies contain only login information, and others contain tracking information. You will often find these referred to as Session, Permanent, and Third-Party cookies. Third-Party cookies tend to be the ones that track other things, and are used for targeted advertising. There was a recent issue with cookies on the Second Life Marketplace, where people were constantly being logged out - even mid-purchase. This has now stopped, so it's fair to assume that Linden Lab have changed the cookies so they now retain login information correctly, as they are supposed to. This may be why your browser is showing you new notifications about cookies, as you may be required to re-accept them. Or perhaps your browser has updated and now includes additional privacy features which shows you every time a website collects information from you (which the browser didn't show before - although most major browsers have had privacy options for a long, long time now), hence the slew of notices. If Linden Lab didn't track what you purchased on Marketplace, how would you redeliver those items if you lost or broke them? Same with anything you order online; you can't go back to your order to even check it if there is no record of it.
  9. All Catwa applier lipsticks work on HDPRO heads. This includes HDPRO lipsticks, lipsticks created for the HD Lips add-ons for the Bento heads, and non-HD lipsticks created for Catwa heads. All Omega lipsticks also work on HDPRO heads if you are wearing the Omega relay for Catwa. If the lipsticks you're trying are Omega ones and they're not working, despite you wearing both the Style HUD and the Omega relay for Catwa, then try the other Omega relay for Catwa that's in the folder. There are two, and depending on the lipstick you may find that one relay works whereas the other doesn't. The main stipulation is at the bottom of what Rowan posted (which is from my HDPRO Quick Setup Guide) and that is: You must be wearing the HDPRO Style HUD when using any appliers on HDPRO heads. You don't need to have it opened; just worn. The only exception with HDPRO is that the appliers created for HDPRO are not backwards-compatible with older Catwa Bento heads. You cannot use HDPRO lipsticks on the older Bento heads' HD Lips add-ons, for example. But all Catwa and Omega lipsticks will work on HDPRO heads, as long as you're wearing the HDPRO Style HUD when applying. You don't even need to have Advanced Lighting enabled (which I seem to recall you don't use, as you don't like the 'shinies' it can give) when using HDPRO, unlike the requirement for ALM on the older Bento heads' HD Lips.
  10. As others have said, that's simply the shading on the skin. If you're using BoM (Bakes on Mesh, AKA system layers) for your skin, you can try Izzie's BoM Chin Shadow Concealer (demo link here) to see if that fixes the issue for you.
  11. Are you using the Redux version of your Slink body? That version doesn't support alpha cuts via the auto-alpha HUD or the body's HUD, as it's intended for BoM use with alpha layers. See this section of the Slink FAQ for how to make alpha layers if your clothing doesn't have any.
  12. A screenshot of what you're seeing would be very helpful in diagnosing the issue. Assuming that you're using one of the Type 1 neck options in the Maitreya HUD (as those are the ones intended to be used with heads like Evolution, which use the Universal Neck setting) then you might also want to check the materials settings on both your head and body. Look on both HUDs for anything labelled as either materials/gloss/shine/environment, etc. Having non-identical materials settings on the head and body can lead to a discrepancy like that, which tends only to be visible when lighting hits the neck area from certain angles.
  13. BoM and appliers are two separate things. If you try to use an applier skin after setting your body (or head) to accept BoM, it will cancel out the BoM ability and what you're currently seeing will happen. BoM is intended to be for system layers only. If your skin contains a system layer then that's what you need to use for BoM. A BoM skin can come in one of three options: system skin layer with the head and body all together system skin layer with either the head or the body on the system skin, plus a system tattoo layer for the part that's not on the system skin (eg: system skin for the body and tattoo layer for the head) tattoo layers for both the head and the body I can see from your screenshot that you're using the Firestorm viewer, so the inventory icons you need to look for are: system skin = human figure doing a star jump tattoo layer = pink dragon tattoo If you see those in your skin's folder, then WEAR the skin and ADD the tattoo layer(s). If you don't see them in your skin's folder, then the skin is an applier-only one. If it's applier-only then you will need to re-add the alpha layer for your body and apply the skin. If you'd like to show a screenshot of what's in the skin folder, we can give you more detailed guidamce

    DEMO SKIN

Catwa CSR here It would help greatly if you provided the following information: The name of the Catwa head you're using (there are four types of Catwa head - Basic, Non-Bento/Frames Animated, Bento, and HDPRO), and each one is dealt with slightly differently). You can use this image as a guide to find out which head type you're using Whether you were using an applier skin (add the skin's HUD and click it to apply the skin) or a BoM skin (wear or add a system layer after setting your head to BoM) That said, I am going to take a wild guess and assume that you're using a Catwa Bento head such as Daniel or Stanley, plus an applier skin. If that's the case, please follow the below instructions. If not, please post again with your replies to the two questions at the top of my post. Firstly, have you tried applying a different skin to clear the demo skin? Try one from the Skins tab of your Catwa HUD Master that came with the head. Applying another skin will usually clear everything from a previously applied demo skin. Sometimes, though, the 'demo' wording of a demo skin applier is set to go onto the blush layer of the head, so if applying a different skin doesn't fix the issue, you will need to clear that blush layer. To do this: add your Catwa HUD Master v4.5 and go into the Blush/Lipstick tab near the bottom. Under the Blush section at the top of that tab, check the LOWER button then click the CLEAR button. Then check the UPPER button and click the CLEAR button. Watch this video that shows you how to do that. If your Master HUD is white instead of dark grey, then you're either using an older version of your Bento head, or you're using a non-Bento head. If it's a Bento head, then the locations are exactly the same to clear that layer. If you're using a non-Bento head, or you're trying to remove a BoM (system layer) skin, the instructions will be different.
  15. That explains it. The Walt Disney Company owns all Star Wars properties, and you will find nobody who protects their trademarks and copyrights more zealously than The Mouse. This may be worth a read: https://legalmatterblog.com/2015/04/27/may-the-4th-be-with-your-brand-a-legal-guide-to-making-star-wars-tributes/
  16. As someone who works as a CSR for a major mesh head brand, parts of the new Avatar menu will be very useful, in particular the two Reset Skeleton options. However, I would like to request that 'Undeform Avatar' is also included in that section with the two Resets, as we sometimes see people whose avatar skeleton issues can only be fixed by undeforming. As an aside, Coffee's example of the 'Fix Avatar' section in the Catznip viewer menu is fantastic. That's about as simple and yet inclusive as it gets.
  17. As I've already mentioned, it's highly likely that this will fall under Trade Dress, breach of which is prohibited in SL by the ToS. I suggest that you research what Trade Dress is. This link gives a good explanation, as well as some examples of Trade Dress, which I've also listed below. Trade dress is the aesthetic or visual elements of a product or its packaging. Trade dress has been defined as the overall appearance of an object including size‚ shape‚ color‚ textures‚ or graphics. In order to better market a product‚ manufacturers often design the product or its packaging to catch the eye‚ appeal to consumers‚ and appear distinct from other similar products. Consumers may come to associate certain colors‚ designs‚ and patterns with specific products. the shape of Coca-Cola and Voss bottles; the red-sole of a Christian Louboutin shoe; the red tab on Levis jeans; the shape and colors of IHOP restaurants; the colors of the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups wrapper; the red sealing wax on a bottle of Makers Mark; the fish shape of Goldfish crackers; and the shape of a Hershey Kiss chocolate.
  18. No, but then I rarely dress off the peg. I customise the hell out of every look, so it's unlikely that I'll ever bump into anyone wearing the same thing as me.
  19. Now you are getting into a 'grey area'. I would err on the side of caution and not breach trade dress at all, regardless of whether the item is for sale, for your own private use, or for sharing with anyone else. When there is a rule to follow - a line that you must not cross - some people will go as close as possible to that line, right to the edge of the other side of it, and they will push the boundaries of that line to see how far they can go. Example: That is why those 'lines' are not given in more detail: some people will push and push. Best to just stop where you can see that the line starts.
  20. It can appear to be confusing wording, especially if English is not your first language. "Original appearance" in the first quote should be taken as reading "not looking like any other specific thing". Your item must not look as if it is a copy or a very close imitation of a real world brand. "Distinctive and recognizable" in the second quote should be taken as reading "visually recognisable as belonging to a specific product or company". For example, if you were to create a brand of soda, call it 'Cherry Pop' and use the distinctive Coca Cola font for its logo, it would make people think of Coca Cola. If the item makes you think of a specific brand, simply by looking at it, then it's taking advantage of that brand's trade dress and your familiarity with it to make that connection. Copyright law is, as Finite says, much less simple than that. It's a very complex thing with many nuances, but that's a very very simplified version of what trade dress entails.
  21. Yes it will. If you read the Intellectual Property Policy that's at the link you gave, you will see that this example falls under 'trade dress' - Because nobody has flagged (reported) those items as yet, or they have been flagged and removed and the creator has relisted them. Linden Lab don't have enough staff to dedicate several of them to policing the Marketplace continuously, so they rely on users to flag items. Dakota Linden explained this here, during a discussion about keyword spam. Simply follow the Intellectual Property Policy guidelines at the link you gave and that I've highlighted in the screenshot above.
  22. What I think is happening here is indicated by the words I've highlighted below: You appear to be either using an 'onion skin' mesh body with multiple layers (tattoo, underwear, and clothing) OR a body like Maitreya that has additional layers you can add, and you're then using appliers (because you've used the word 'apply' several times) which is why you're seeing this issue of one removing the other. When you say that your workaround involves setting your tattoo and tanline on different layers, that indicates that you're not using BoM, as there is no way to assign BoM layers to a specific 'location level' like that (short of them being created as actual system tattoo/underwear/clothing layers originally, with the corresponding inventory icons of 'pink dragon' symbol, vest/singlet, shirt, and jacket). What BoM does, in essence, is it takes all of the stacked system layers on your underlying system avatar, composites them into a single texture, then sends that texture to your mesh body, which we call 'baking', hence the term 'Bakes on Mesh'. The confusion comes because your post title mentions 'BoM', and I'm fairly certain youre not using BoM. What I think you might be doing is using appliers to send the tattoo and tanline textures to the different layers of your mesh body. Lindal is correct, in that - if you're using system layer tattoos (inventory icon: pink dragon symbol), which is what BoM makes use of - then using ADD to put them on a BoM-enabled body will simply stack them on top of each other so they are all visible. So, for example, your layering would be as follows - Lowest layer: BoM (system) skin Middle layer: BoM (system tattoo) tan line Upper layer: BoM (system) tattoo #1 Topmost layer: BoM (system) tatttoo #2 ETA: This video shows me stacking eight tattoo layers on top of each other. If, however, you're trying to do the following - Lowest layer: BoM (system) OR applier skin Middle layer: applier tan line applied to the tattoo layer of your body Upper layer: applier tattoo #1 applied to the tattoo, clothing, or underwear layer of your body Topmost layer: applier tattoo #2 applied to the tattoo, clothing, or underwear layer of your body - then that's what is causing your problem. Even that workaround of putting the tan line applier on the tattoo layer of your body and the tattoo applier on the clothing layer of your body can cause the familiar 'z-buffering' alpha clash/glitch issues that we're all familiar with, especially after a teleport. In your case, both tan line and tattoo(s) contain partial alphas and your viewer is trying to figure out which order to put them in (usually resulting in one or more appearing to vanish). This only happens with appliers, which is why BoM is so popular, as it fixes that longstanding issue. The way to put your tattoos over the top of other tattoos and tanlines etc, is to go fully BoM. You can stack up to 60 BoM (system) layers on top of your skin that way, and you can also 'hybridise' by doing something like the following - Lowest layer: BoM (system) skin Middle layer: BoM (system tattoo) tan line Upper layer: BoM (system) tattoo #1 Topmost layer: applier tattoo #2 applied to any of your body's layers
  23. In addition to what Maitimo has mentioned about Jake, there is one other crucial problem with it: it does not have the Universal Neck that new heads such as Lelutka Evolution and Catwa HDPRO use, therefore Jake users will have neck fit issues with those heads. Also, it is confusing to those who are new to mesh bodies that there are four copies of the body inside the folder, and the way that they're labelled means that I've seen more than one person walking around wearing all four copies:
  24. This was a known issue for Linux users. There was a fix for it in an older Firestorm version, but according to more recent comments on this thread (on page 2) there are still issues with hair from certain brands:
  25. That particular store also sells hair and facial hair. And a quick viewing of the source code for that listing page shows that they're keyword spamming and can rightfully be flagged. These are the keywords they've used for those statues: mesh,medium,avatar,classic,appliers,catwa,omega,100%,pirate,hippie,hipster,man,mustache,mesh,beard,beards,dreads,dread,braid,long,signature,slink,hair,bom,hairbase, facial, hair, lelutka, statue
