  1. Don't expect LL to make it so. The technical issues could be worked out, but there are too many legal issues regarding intellectual property rights. I believe there are tools that you can use to export objects you've created from your inventory to an OpenSim grid, but you can't legally do the same with anything created by anyone else without the creator's consent. That includes textures you've purchased in SL and applied to your own objects.
  2. Are you using two monitors with your new computer? I know someone who had partially invisible avatar problems that were affected by the outfit she wore. The problem was caused by running SL in the secondary monitor rather than in the primary.
  3. Vampires are too common lately, so here's a more unusual Academy Awards attendee: Since I wouldn't be caught dead there (too late for the zombie), this is another unusual attendee:

Ceka Cianci wrote: i also went to look up native lands because i had seen they had 4 sims to ride in from another thread..i had forgotten about them..i used to go there to get a lot of my art and things.. they show as not there anymore from the link that was in that thread..so i don't know if they have moved or are gone now.. i'll look when i go back inworld again..i hope they are still around.. VIrtual Native Lands is down to one region: Virtual Native Lands It's run by a nonprofit & the tier cost was too high to keep all the regions once LL dropped the nonprofit/education discount.
  5. Happy Sunday! Too bad Monday's so near. Here's some eye candy: Sorry, couldn't resist.
  6. Celestiall Nightfire wrote: I almost never take snapshots, and when I do, the snaps don't have me in them. But, here's one I took, that does have me in the snap. The snapshot is really of Moxie though, isn't she beautiful! : ) <snip> You're in several pictures on the Hippiestock Flickr group. Here's one I took: There was a bright light in the area that wiped out the contrast. :-( Moxie looked good, but so did you.
  7. Actually, I did hit the green button at the bottom left. Usually it works but I've caught it misbehaving a couple times. I forgot to check it before my last post. The only one that's always worked is to hit the Reply button at the top of the first page of the thread.
  8. Some Hippiestock pictures ... And finally, it's Wildcat again. I couldn't resist posting this one. I think Wildcat's getting a disapproving look from a nun. ETA: I'm done uploading pictures to the Hippiestock Flickr page. I missed the first hour but I tried to get pictures of everyone who showed up after that.
  9. I keep ground level for decorating, so my home is a few thousand meters up. I bought this one. At ground level is a cabin which I first built in September 2006. It's been updated some, of course. Obviously it's still winter for me. I've got a few more days of snow left. Here's an overview: ETA: Why does it insist on replying to the last post when I click on the Reply button at the bottom of the thread? Argh!
  10. I posted a picture of myself in the Hippiestock II Lets See Your Outfit thread. For here I've got a picture from Hippiestock II that's much more appropriate for a vanity thread. I'm sure everyone would rather see Wildcat. I took over 300 pictures at the event, including some with shadows & depth of field turned on. I'll put any good ones in the Hippiestock II space.
  11. Here's mine & a picture of someone who probably wouldn't post here herself:

Lucinda Bulloch wrote: there are 4 combat sim that are combat that are linden owned, 4 joined, its huge you cant miss them, they have pirate zone in the desription, seems it has been a long time since you were there. I was there yesterday & I went back today. I did find four regions with "Caution - Pirate Zone!" as the parcel name, but I wouldn't call them combat regions since they don't allow damage. I'd say they're good for roleplay but definitely not good as a sandbox. They're Homestead regions so they only allow 3750 prims and generally have around 2700 free. That said, you should be able to use any sort of vehicle there. If the Blake Sea group (Linden-owned) wants to restrict it to particular types of vehicles they should add the restrictions to the land description.
  13. I looked around Blake Sea and the only combat-enabled areas I found were privately owned. The owners of the land have the right to do whatever they wish in terms of parcel settings, banning people, etc. The rez locations in the Linden-owned Blake Sea regions were set anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes autoreturn. Your best bet is to rent some water parcels until you finish your carrier.
  14. jazzman Diesel wrote: Hi my account reads -L$5 i have not bought anything in like a month or two so why is it reading this? HELP It's likely you're a member of a group in which the "Pay group liabilities and receive group dividends" ability is set for whatever role you have in the group. Lindens owed by the group will be taken from the accounts of all members who have that 'ability' set for them in the group. Usually it's something like being billed for having Show in Search set on group-owned land. If you can figure out which group it is, talk to whoever runs the group to see if they'll change the setting (it's often set unintentionally). If not, I suggest leaving that group.
  15. @Cinnamon, Maddy, Kylie: Thanks @Venus: I've posted in Vanity a few times before. The most recent was late October as a zombie. Maddy thought that one really fit me. @Venus, Marianne: Thanks for the places to check for skins. @val: yes, that's a Kismet tree. I saw a picture of one (possibly in this thread), found the store & spent some Lindens. The garland on the front of the cabin and some of the wreaths are also from Kismet. Feel free to check out the decorations if you wish. There are three ice skating tours -- a single and a couples by the landing point and another couples one near the boat dock to the north. There's a rink with an ice skating 'dance' ball too.
  16. Domitan Redenblack wrote: Personally, I would like to see a daily graph of: 1. Number of residents logged in per day (multiple logins count as one) 2. Average sim traffic per day 3. Number of parcels active (at least one visit per day) Of those, #1 is by far the most important. Note: LL might never allow this data out, as it might cause a shareholder stampede. (Selling) LL is a privately held company so they don't need to worry about shareholder stampedes. The three items you list have little effect on LL's revenue anyway.
  17. There have been a lot of great pictures lately. I congratulate you all on your ability. I march to the beat of a different little drummer boy ... my avatar is old in a world of virtual youth. In fact, he looks older than I do because nobody seems interested in making skins that fit the 40 - 55 age range. I'm more vain about my land than my avatar, so here goes:
  18. Your problem sounds similar to what happens if you run SL on the second monitor of a two-monitor setup. If that happens to be the case, make sure you have SL on the primary monitor.
  19. Jenni Darkwatch wrote: Everyone who thinks SL is a good substitute for reality is severely handicapped - or severely demented. Try hugging a friend in SL. Try eating out in SL. Try just about _any_ human interaction in SL and then in RL. Try feeling the wind and weather in RL. Go sail in RL, then in SL. Go hug your grandchildren/friend/family in RL. RL beats SL hands-down in every single department. Or, more accurately, RL beats _any_ cyber interaction. Even if you claim it's good for social networking, that's simply not the whole truth. There are better ways to network than SL. Even the godawful FakeBorg page is better for that. For business needs there's better tools as well. GotoMeeting, various videoconferencing solutions, prototyping solutions (aside from wanting to TOUCH a prototype), collaborative work tools etc.pp. SL is a toy and somewhat of a social playground. Akin to going to the movies, not akin to the clothes we wear every day. Please read this guest blog by Treacle Darlandes. You've stated what SL is to you, but SL can be something different for everyone who uses it. Many people can't go do the RL things they can do in SL.
  20. Kylie Jaxxon wrote: OK, I hope Charro excuses the short derail, but since some have mentioned FB, I need to ask a quick question. Just a yes or no answer, please, and then we can get back to the topic on hand I'm on FB in RL. For those of you that also use it, you know they have come out with the new Timeline feature. I'm getting ready to enable it...my question: am I right in assuming that if I mention anything of SL in conjunction with my avatars name, it will link the two? People on SL will be then be able to access who I am? I don't want this to happen, so I want to be sure before I add such a thing. Thanks for any help. It really depends on how public you've made your FB. If only friends can see your FB posts then you're pretty safe (except from friends who are also in SL). If it's public enough that the search engines (Google/Bing/Yahoo/etc.) can index it, then anyone will be able to find it. Linden Lab doesn't troll FB looking to connect RL names to SL.
  21. I think the latest viewers finally make the Viewer 2 line acceptable. There are some things I'd change, but it's a big improvement. I adjusted it about the same as I've done with Firestorm. Here's the view with both IM & local chat up: If I'm building or exploring I wouldn't have the chat stuff open, so the view is more like: I ditched several buttons, moved the remaining side ones to the bottom, got rid of the location bar in favor of the mini-location bar, and reduced the size of the minimap. I'd like to be able to move the toolbar on the bottom to the right and move the notification location (or turn them off). It would be great if the mini-location bar could be merged with the menu bar.
  22. This is a weekly dance on Aloft Nonprofit Commons we've been having for the last 3 and a half years. I'm the one dancing on the head of a pin.
  23. /me pops in long enough to grab a slice of that cake. Mmmmm ... and another for the road. Hippie Bowman wrote: Here you go Dee! Feast your eyes on this! Peace!
