  1. You need to turn off 'Show in Search' for your land. When you're on your land, bring up the About Land window. Under the Options tab is a checkbox with a label that says something like "Show Place in Search (L$30/week)". Make sure that box is not checked.

Several residents talked with Durian Linden in-world during SLCC about Viewer 2 and the changes we'd like. He seemed to agree with many of the comments. Linden Lab said during SLCC that they are working on combining the basic & advanced user interfaces into a single UI and that they've heard us about the sidebar. (See http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2011/08/slcc-product-team-panel-highlights.html). I don't expect much to change until mesh has been dealt with, but I do hope (for the first time) that LL will fix Viewer 2's UI. IMO, they'd do well to start by incorporating Firestorm's code. I like to be able to customize the viewer.
  3. When I've loaded my dance device, I rezzed the dance balls containing the dance animation, dragged the animations from them into a folder in inventory, then edited the dance device and dragged the animations from inventory into the Contents tab of the device's edit window. Is this what you're doing?
  4. Since the Teen Grid merged with the main grid last December, your account is a MG account. Anything that was in it should've transitioned during the merge. I couldn't find anything talking about the transition from a restricted (16-17 year old) account to regular account, but I believe it's just a change in the database. No action on your part is required. ETA: Wow -- nobody had answered when I started to answer. Ansariel Hiller's answer is the one I'd go with.

"when its 2.0 metters tall" 1,5 metters = 1 metter and 5 cm.. even the grid itself says so! Yeah, I get it. The nearest parking lot! A photon is burly. Indeed, a completely optimal jersey cow indicates that another wedding dress for a tripod barely sells some particle accelerator for a warranty. Does nobody think of the squid behind the recliner? If a salty sprout makes a truce with a feverish chess board, the plaintiff meditates in the shadow of his greedily twisted garbage can. Rejoice, for the fundraiser sweeps the flat on the floor! That's a great response, but it's still more comprehensible than the OP's. Perhaps if you used random Unicode characters?

Well, if it a HUGE failure, maybe a 2.9 will be around. But, they said at the SL convention thingy they are hearing people 'loud and clear' about the right side bar of buttons/tabs in V2.0...so, maybe it will die before in 3.0 or just be optional? I am not rying it yet lol. It will crash to much for me to bear this week lol. But, yes....3.0 is alive and trying to struggle to it's feat and make it's way across the net into your computer! All the 3.0 beta adds is mesh and some bug fixes. Ditching the sidebar is a future thing. BTW, Phoenix is the only place I get black pictures with shadows on. Firestorm and Viewer 2/3 work fine. Shadows work better in the Viewer 2-based viewers and graphics doesn't have to be set to max to use them. I've set up Firestorm so I never have to see the sidebar (not even the tabs) and I think I have even more screen space devoted to displaying the world than in Phoenix.

Right now ive picked out the Dell XPS 8300 which comes with 2nd gen intel Core i7 2600 Processor Windows 7 8GB DDR3 Memory. 1 TB hard drive 1GB ATI Radeon HD 6450 DDR3 Is this a good machine to run sl?, i also do digital art so a good graphics card is a must. thank you That's a sweet machine except for the graphics card. The 6450 is a low-end card (about $50 - $60 online). If you can afford another $100 - $150, consider either the Radeon HD 6790 or HD 6850 (for ATI) or GTX 550/ GTX 560 (for NVidia). The best performance at a reasonable price in video cards tends to be in the $200 - $250 range, but you'll do well in the $150 - $200 range if you're not a gamer. Prices are based on U.S. purchases, btw.
  8. The answer depends on the specifications of your computer. Could you post any information you have? Make and model number would be a start. I think most modern graphics cards can handle mesh. SL pushes the computer's processor and memory too. Upgrading the graphics card alone won't help if something else is the true bottleneck.

  10. I wouldn't mind a quick teleport here: (And the water is too cold for brain-eating amoebas)
  11. Storm Clarence wrote: What are the chances of getting brain-eating amoebas? Ew The odds are low, but three people have died in the U.S. this year from exposure to brain-eating amoebas. They were in Florida, Louisiana, and Virginia.
  12. You are probably using Viewer 2 in basic mode. You need to be in advanced mode to get to your inventory. Log out of SL if you are logged in. Start the viewer, but don't log in yet. Beside the Log In button is a Mode control. Click on it and select Advanced, then log into SL. Once you've logged in, your inventory is available on the sidebar (right side of the screen). The tab looks a bit like a suitcase and is the second from the bottom.
  13. The answer also depends on the type of region. A full region allows 15,000 prims. A Homestead region allows 3,750 prims. You'd need more land on a Homestead region to hold 496 prims than you would on a full region. Here are some formulas you can use: To calculate the number of prims a parcel can hold (Full region) number_of_prims = parcel_size_in_sqm x 0.228882 (Homestead region) number_of_prims = parcel_size_in_sqm x 0.057221 To calculate the parcel size needed to hold a specified number of prims (Full region) parcel_size_in_sqm = number_of_prims x 4.36907 (Homestead region) parcel_size_in_sqm = number_of_prims x 17.47627 Ignore any fractions in the result. For 496 prims, you need at least 2176 sqm on a full region or 8672 sqm on a Homestead region. (I rounded up to a multiple of 16 because the smallest 'chunk' of land you can have is 16sqm.
  14. Brunette (on a woman I don't know or have just met) Whatever color her hair is once I know & like her.
  15. This question's come up before. Check http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Everything-Else/How-do-I-change-the-language-for-profile-information-in-Viewer-2/qaq-p/1036507 I'm not sure it'll help though.
  16. I assume since your Sony is a new computer that it's running Windows 7 64-bit. I've been using Windows 7 64-bit since it was a beta and SL's never had a problem with it. If you give a better description of what goes wrong when you try to log into SL you'll have a better chance at getting useful assistance. Odds are good that someone here has had a similar problem.

A security device does a better job and can (should) be set to a reasonable interval before ejection.
  18. Lag affects what happens when you hit banlines too. It seems to me that you get bounced harder when the lag is greater. Another safe area for boating is the Sea of Fables. There's a rez point at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bohol/215/82/23
  19. Another avenue is to look for corporations who have used the RegAPI. Linden Lab reused the RegAPI and estate features set up for corporations when they allowed 13-15s to sign up. Companies often don't want avatars (often bearing the name of the corporation as their last name) to be seen in the more interesting parts of SL, so LL set up a way to restrict the avatars to a single estate (and not to have access to the Marketplace). Those features came in handy when the grids merged. I know someone who's part of a company that sets up RegAPI for others. They work with charities a lot too. I'll send you a notecard in-world with the information. I think the guidelines don't allow me to post it here.
  20. My vanity is all about building, not avatars, but here's one to represent the less-youthful avatars of SL.
  21. Linden Lab can't connect your SL profile to your FB account unless you choose to link them yourself. LL doesn't know what your FB (or any other) account is, so how could they link them? Go to https://my.secondlife.com then to Settings, then the Privacy tab. Change the settings to whatever makes you comfortable. I set my Feed to none and everything else to Second Life. That puts my profile exactly where it's always been: accessible to people logged into SL (website or in-world) but not to the rest of the internet. I disabled Feed because I'd never use it anyway. You're far more exposed to the internet by posting in the forums, btw.
  22. Since there have been so many pictures of beauties, it's time for a beast.
  23. A common cause is your voice is being retransmitted through the other person's microphone, especially if the person you're talking with is using speakers and a separate microphone rather than a headset. They won't hear the echo, but you will.
  24. https://my.secondlife.com, Settings, Notifications will let you get rid of various email and in-world notifications. Sorry, I duplicated Roseysun Galicia's post when I answered WolfBaginski's post. I should've read the first posts first.
  25. @WolfBaginski: Your profile doesn't have to be open to everyone. In https://my.secondlife.com go to Settings, then the Privacy tab. You can specify there what parts of your profile are visible to Everyone, Second Life, Friends, or Nobody.
