For all the "shaming" accusations that have been thrown towards people who want Adult rated Linden homes. Here is a perfect example of the opposite. Since its an activity you personally see no value in it must not be important to anyone else. For some folks this is part of their fun and perhaps why they choose to come to Second Life instead of the immense failure of something like Sansar which PGed itself into being irrelevant. The simple argument is still that variety of experiences for varieties of communities is always a good thing. Should their be an Adult option in SL... yes... I would argue there should also be a General option too. Make some General rated Linden homes too for people who don't even want to see naked avies ever. People who live in moderate regions never even have to visit the adult ones and vice versa. Gives everyone a little freedom in what they want. Also there is a vast business of content creators making adult furniture that is outdoor furniture. Things like swimming pools and hot tubs and lawn chairs... things you would not be able to or even want on the inside of your home or cooped up in some skybox. There already is a TON of adult rated furniture in people's backyards all over Bellisseria and I bet a lot of it does indeed get very discreetly used, probably with the option to hide view from outside of the parcel. Its not a matter of people wanting to put on a show for their neighbors but rather for people to have the freedom to fully use their parcel and the furniture they placed on it. Speaking for myself only if I had an adult rated Linden Home i would certainly put that kind of furniture outdoors probably in my backyard and I probably would also have the hide view on. But hide view according to linden lab is not enough to constitute the "behind closed doors" that Moderate policy requires. So I suppose that is the other possibility. Maybe fine tune that policy and say clicking the "hide view" option in land preferences constitutes "behind closed doors." Afterall at that point the only way someone sees you getting it on is some creepy neighbor who makes it their business to just walk into people's yards to spy on what they are doing.

This here all this... I really don't think people wanting this is unreasonable. Different strokes for different folks and while I'm at it I would equally defend the General rated land folks wanting General rated Linden Homes too. I think arguably most people would still prefer Moderate but I think there would be a size worthy chunk of people both for Adult rated and General to give each one their own smallish continent somewhere. And yes attach the adult one to Zindra that makes sense. Dont even have to call it Bellisseria. But have it be Linden homes so people wanting adult rated land for their small homes does not have to exist in land that is either WAY to expensive (Horizons) or ugly AF (Zindra).

I think people would be genuinely shocked at how popular these would be if they did roll them out. All you gotta do is start looking at the skyboxes in Bellisseria to get a clue of just how popular adult rated Linden Homes could be. Its like a sea of sky dungeons in Bellisseria. And yes many would be fine in keeping their sky dungeon in a moderate region but others would be very enthusiastic to be in adult land.

I think for me the overall issue is we see the Lindens growing moderate area but doing nothing to grow adult area. Heck they never even finished the 1 single adult continent they attempted to make. Zindra is not even a complete continent. It's like half a continent

When questioned about it even Patch Linden suggested that nudity in and of itself is not relegated to only adult land. Public sex and certainly erections in public areas would be adult only. and we are talking about Second Life NOT Real Life here.

Lets have one in Bellisseria and call it the Bellisseria Event of the Year!!!

Then i suppose the furries, elves, and cyborg residents all need to go... they don't exist in RL suburbia either... nor do little fantasy like creatures named Moles that build everything. SL is NOT a carbon copy of RL. And since when did you become a Linden and are telling everyone it never will. Currently it does not and that seems to be the current posture of SL but that is not to say they could not go back to the table and say that it can or should exist later. And if an adult section where to ever exist then yes... it would make complete and total sense for people to express their kinks in ways they would not and could not in Moderate land. In the meantime it is perfectly within Moderate realms to walk around naked. Nudity is not prevented in Moderate SL land as long as its not "sexual" in other words no upturned bananas etc... Again you probably would not see that happen in RL suburbia either yet technically it is allowed and I know people in Bellisseria who feel perfectly free to be naked outdoors. Check out the Mermaid community of SL plenty of those fishy tailed creatures are wearing no tops (gasp). So your argument just does not hold because there are already plenty of examples of things that exist in Bellisseria that would never exist in RL suburbia.

There are certain things that people in the kink community could not do in a moderate region vs an adult region. most it would have to do with outdoor activity on their own land. Use your imagination i don't think i need to explicitly describe it... That is something that can and really only should be done on Adult land. Most reasonable minded kink community folks would agree with that as well. But saying they shouldn't even have adult Linden homes is indeed limiting that community in favor of another one. So yes I would think most people in the kink community would prefer adult rated land the whole "behind closed doors" clause or shutting themselves up in a skybox. And if you want some evidence on how popular adult Linden homes could be... go take a peek at how many Sky Dungeons exist just in Bellisseria alone. There is ZERO reason why they could not make Linden Home continents of the 3 different ratings for people. I would argue too that General rating Linden Homes should also be available for people who truly want nothing remotely adult too. I just think more options for different groups of folks is always better in the long run.

So keeping people in the kink community closed off to a small dark corner of SL... gotcha... what a novel idea for making other people feel more welcome by limiting and making another group feel like a second class citizen in SL. So creating a continent totally separate from Bellisseria somehow makes SL less or Bellisseria less welcoming. If anything it makes it more welcoming in that it says... Hey if you like good family centered communities we have a place for you... If you like commerce and business we have a place for you... If you like the more adult side of the metaverse we have a place for you. By continually pushing the Adult rated element of SL into the darkest corner they can find and then basically shutting off the valve to anymore further growth to that area it definitely tells the kink community you are gradually and gradually becoming LESS welcome here. But if you define making other people feel welcome by continually downgrading other groups then I suppose this theory works. This model does not work well in the the real world to make people feel more welcome I very much doubt it will work in the metaverse either

Nobody including the OP is suggesting that you should be forced to see any of that in Bellisseria. If I'm reading correctly what people want who request "Adult Linden Homes" is that a separate continent with Linden homes be made for that. In fact it would not even make sense to connect it or have it anywhere near Bellisseria. It would make more sense to have it connected up with Zindra or Horizons. But Linden Homes are DIFFERENT than mainland. And just because someone loves the kink community does not mean they will be happy or satisfied with "Just go get a plot on Adult mainland" Mainland regardless of its rating is generally unregulated and ugly. Its just ugly and yes even people in the kink community have a desire for beautiful land like Bellisseria that is both pleasing to the eye and affordable. AFFORDABLE is key here. Last I checked the lowest price of a Horizons lot currently is about 85,000 L. I don't know about you but that's a lot of money to shell out for a plot of land for most people. One of the benefits of a Linden home is affordable land. I think you should have your moderate continent. I live there too and I love it. But I also think that it is more than fair for the kink community to ask for an adult area that is similar to Bellisseria (but of course completely separate). I would not even call it Bellisseria personally i would give it some new name since a rating shift is a dramatic shift from Bellisseria and maybe even a little extra window that comes up on the homes page asking the person to click a box affirming that they are aware that this particular continent of Linden Homes is adult rated and that they attest to being 18 or older. With that said, as I posted in an earlier post, this entire topic is rather pointless as Patch Linden already said NO to Adult rated Linden Homes about a year ago or so during an interview on Lab Gab. I get his reasoning but I do think that Linden Labs should take into consideration why most adult land is so expensive to begin with. To me that suggests there is a demand for it and that perhaps an adult centered area of Linden Homes would do quite well. Until then people in the kink community will be slapped with the same tired answer... "Oh just go get a plot in Zindra or Horizons." Again... Horizons... very nice but super expensive. And while parts of Zindra may be more affordable they are generally buried in the middle of landlocked regions in oldschool mainland with all sorts of clutter everywhere. Not appealing to many people in the kink community as much as it would be unappealing to folks in the moderate community.

Not really a new idea at all... This was something many of us, including myself pushed for early on when Bellisseria started out. The idea I know that the Lindens must have talked about at some point because they even addressed this question on one of the monthly "Lab Gabs" and the idea of Adult Linden homes was completely and totally shot down. So I would love if they revisited the topic but when they did that episode of Lab Gab some time ago it felt like they gave us an answer to that ask already.

I gotta agree with some of the other sentiment here. I think this would turn into an endless sea of resellers. It would have no appeal to customers at all. Chris is onto something in the above post though. EVENTS are the thing that drives business in SL so maybe have a once a month Bellisseria shopping event where content creators can get a stall.... it could even become a "super premium" perk if the Lab ever goes back to that idea again. Would also encourage our content creators to upgrade their accounts to super premium to be included in a once a month Linden sponsored shopping event. I think if they do this though there needs to be a rule against reseller vendors. Needs to be content directly from content creators.

This.... all this right here Thank you Chloe... I was not going to say a word but now that i see this is a fairly open discussion I would like to add my agreement to what Chloe just said. No disrespect to the couple at all, but after being treated to posts calling it "The Bellisseria Event of the Year" nevermind the fact there have been plenty of great events the entire year that were arguably far more inclusive of the whole community... I just think that the opening of a community area should be something that is for everyone. I have no problem with weddings, rez days, anniversaries... etc... but perhaps they should all be relegated to something one reserves an area for and NOT on a release day of said region. That way it is an even playing field... That is of course unless the Lindens would like to announce what region release I get for my rez day and what Linden or Mole will be jumping out of a rez day cake for me... All joking aside. I agree with Prok and Nika and Chloe on this one. Love the idea of weddings in Bellisseria, Love the idea of community events, but perhaps this one should have been more thought out on the part of the Lindens. I wish the couple a lovely future. But I also wish that all Bellisserians have an equal playing field when it comes to things like this. If I was Linden Lab I simply would have released the region a week prior to the wedding and that would have fixed most of this.
