  1. I would think that having lots of wearable stuff at launch is more important than forcing immediate shopping on new users of a body. I agree with Marianne, after all if things go well then a lot of vendors would end up adding shoes rigged for the new body anyway and usually given away as free updates. Providing a bridge of compatibility with shoes from another body would free them up from having to go and update old products, which is a lot of time and effort, and allow them to just add the new body shoes in new products. I've never heard someone who went to the trouble to buy a new body say, I've got enough clothes, shoes, etc. and don't want to buy any new stuff for it but they may appreciate being able to wear more stuff on those first few days/weeks.
  2. Yeah, I don't think it matters at all. People were calling events on the SL events calendar "SL Events" long before that blog existed. I think it would serve your argument better to show where LL backs up what you are saying explicitly.
  3. We could all have that added to our forum title's every day on the forums and it be true for lots of topics.
  4. Surely, ( I know that you aren't called Shirley just in case ), surely though if I were to create an event in the SL event system for a showing of such a video to get people to gather around and I did that for my SL business, it could still legitimately be called an SL Event - because it was put into the SL events system. I don't know whether the gathering in the OP was added there but I don't see much if any difference.
  5. Yes but to me @Ceka Cianci seemed to be indicating that she would be re-thinking her Premium by her comment and I thought your response was because of that. That's why I was confused about the bodies. True, you cannot please everyone. It would be insanity to try.
  6. You jest I know but the free new mesh bodies aren't going to be P+ perks are they? or did I miss something?
  7. Yes, it's the "who would be interested part" I was mainly addressing but you are right, LL wouldn't necessarily have control over where the data went.
  8. I think we can assume that LL wouldn't want to sell our data to competing services, however I could see ancillary accessory, computer products and services for aimed towards users virtual worlds and gaming could very well be interested in access to that data.
  9. These things are good to know. I've never used the service, I would expect from the advertising that it was a cloud version of a full viewer but this doesn't seem anything like that.
  10. What does that have to do with controlling what people can build?
  11. If you mean that land with higher prices in picturesque areas or areas that have managed communities is evidence that more people want more rules then I would dispute that. Firstly, asking higher prices is no indication of properties selling at those prices. Land values mostly seem to follow terrains features such as waterways (coastal, river, lakes, etc.) or things like double-prim land rather than communities on mainland. I can sell a 1024x1024 at Nautilus City for L$85K (and I know for sure because I sold one just recently with a week of listing and it was to another resident who was not in any real estate related business) because it's double prim even though the area isn't particularly picturesque or that there is any sense of community there. If people wanted more rules because it would make mainland better looking then more collectives would form to create communities, create their own rules and mainland would be awash with them and their desires for that. It's not, if anything they are a dying breed. That would be my counter-claim.
  12. I don't doubt that there may be a desire for LL to enforce their TOS on mainland much more than they do and are capable of today but it's a fallacy to think that our own experiences are typical of a general feeling about something. If there really was a generally much more desire for additional rules then it would be quantifiable and easily shown here as evidence.
  13. I have clothes from a handful of vendors which are mod and who don't mind their customers doing this. It certainly puts into perspective the attitudes of some vs others. I know which camp tends to get the majority of my interest.
  14. I had assumed it was a service aimed at mobile devices primarily so maybe that does come across to others as well.
  15. I'm not P+ and no, I cannot see this tempting me to join up. I don't know much about the service but relying on another company on top of LL to make sure you can use SL seems as though it could be problematic if it proves popular. I can see how people who are already P+ might give it a go and could find it useful though and it might solve some of the problems of people who don't have a great PC for SL anyway.
  16. I can see why stores might want to split fat packs into body specific packs. They may want to see which bodies are preferred. I think that if the price increase is due to the vendor adding some new bodies at the same time without dropping any existing bodies then I can see a justification, otherwise a significant increase over what was offered before is taking advantage somewhat. I can see why multiple body users might be upset. I would prefer a choice of bodies at unpack time and pay the same as before for the fatpack with the vendor choosing which bodies are important. I would possibly reconsider buying from the vendor if I felt they were taking advantage.
  17. I thought a while back when the Maitreya Petite was released that it would have been wonderful if owners of both the body and the add-on could click something at the Maitreya store and get a complete body that incorporates the add-on. So if Maitreya are reading, you could consider this too.
  18. Maitreya is still 30%+ of the market share as is possible for residents to determine. It's going to be around for a good long time. None of the other recent releases have manage to attain even half the numbers. If Lara needs to be updated it will most likely to incorporate new SL features and there is no sign that Maitreya intend to stop doing that.
  19. There is only one Maitreya body. There are other bodies such as the Lucy body and I think there are some deformers for Legacy that allow you to wear some clothing for Maitreya but the Lucy body is a lesser quality Maitreya clone that does fit most clothing and the Legacy gets deformed into a Maitreya-like shape to be able to wear them. It is probably possible to wear some items on other bodies by using alpha-cuts/layers too but that would generally work only for circumstances where most of the body is covered and is the most hit-and-miss approach of them all. So either any way you look at it you end up with a Maitreya shape whilst wearing that clothing even if it is possible.
  20. "are you good at portraying that gender?" Perhaps trying to "portray" a gender is simply the wrong approach and following on from that, the wrong question to ask. Perhaps what the focus and subsequent question should be is "Are you being true to yourself?"
  21. As an aside, I have an alt who somewhere along the line gained a second "Calling Cards" folder and because they are system folders, it cannot be deleted at the viewer side. LL closed the ticket I created concluding that this issue was unfixable from their end too. There are deep issues in the inventory system that remain today I think.
  22. This is why giving calling cards was once a more prominent and an often done thing but unfortunately today it feels archaic and is too well hidden for new people to find naturally. It did mean though that lists didn't have to be made, you could discover and remember who you had spoken to and the giving and receiving of calling cards didn't have the associated login/logout notification issues associated with it. It's a shame that they don't get more use in my opinion.
  23. That's certainly another point of view. The question though is, if LL, hypothetically speaking, decided now to not do 2048 homes and cancelled them for whatever reason, do you think existing subscribers would think that all fair and reasonable?
