  1. Which represents a significant lowering of cost over the previous way you could own one.
  2. You have to pay for P+ either monthly or yearly, the one time setup fee for the Homestead and the monthly fees for the Homestead.
  3. The cost of P+ however is much, much less than the cost of a full private island though. These are the only two routes to getting a Homestead directly from LL, one costs a lot more than the other so the is benefit there otherwise I wouldn't have signed up. YMMV of course.
  4. I know that with full islands you can do it if both owners agree to it. Homesteads were originally meant to be satellites to a full island and so it's possible LL will not allow it unless you own both. Conversely they may treat all islands the same in this regard and allow it. I think we are in uncharted territory for now with Homesteads.
  5. The text on that is surely out of date anyway unless the limit is really only for Trad and Houseboat options. Considering that they most likely didn't update the text for new themes, perhaps they lowered the limit too and just forgot to update the text for that too.
  6. I would never rent an island from anyone though. I only want to have to deal with LL for land so this at least gives people like me a way of owning an island at a much reduced cost. Some of us have been hoping for this for years. I wouldn't expect it to tick everyone's boxes but for me P+ with the Homestead option turned P+ from something to which I would never subscribe into something that makes it worthwhile. Kudos to LL for that.
  7. @Roary McGillivary, the "normal" way to close a topic is to report the first post of the topic and in the description put that you would like it to be closed.
  8. Just joined the ranks of the people with more money than sense, upgraded to P+ and put in my order for a Homestead.
  9. It's obvious to anyone what they are doing. Doesn't matter to me, if I feel something is being misrepresented I'll say so if I feel like it.
  10. Yes, I think we've established that and that's your choice which I have no issue with.
  11. SL is most definitely not a hookup game. It can be for you but that does not define its purpose. Many of us are in SL for other reasons and are definitely not looking to hook up with any one.
  12. Shouldn't this agreement acceptance have required a 2FA token before allowing someone to just accept it with their login/password?. Potentially someone could have accepted one of these with hacked credentials.
  13. Just like to point out that this would only apply to US residents. Residents of other countries are likely to have different rules. New Zealand for example doesn't have a published tax position on virtual currencies and we don't have a capital gains tax either.
  14. Agreed, I was just pointing out the absurdity of having laws or rules for things that could never be enforced, in the case of LL that is. I actually had this in mind: "In Austin's theory of law it is a necessary condition of a rule's being a rule of law that it should be enforceable" From here: The Enforceability of Law by F.S. McNeilly I have no comment about US tax laws.
  15. Yes though obviously you would have to know that you could absolutely trust them to do this for you but I don't see how this would be an issue.
  16. Yes that's right though I am unsure what the Payment Info status would be if someone closed their Tilia account. Technically it would still be Payment Info Used if they had ever bought L$ but who knows until someone tries it.
  17. Yes definitely. I've never cashed out and so far never had to provide any ID information to LL. It didn't hurt to get some confirmation at this stage though in case there had been a fundamental shift in the way that LL uses the Tilia platform.
  18. Reporting back here with the response I received today with thanks from Spots Linden: So the bottom line is that if you want to continue buying L$ or paying for Premium, you do need to have a Tilia account. It seems as though they will allow us to operate a Second Life account without a Tilia account with it being possible to close said Tilia account but the process for that seems to be put in a ticket right now. So following on from that one would assume that if Tilia terminated an account, the Second Life account would still be OK, you would just lose the ability to do the above.
  19. I've put in a support ticket to ask about this relationship, be interesting to see what we get back.
  20. LL really needed to explain properly and specifically what it means to not have a Tilia account and what ramifications it has on your SL account and what the process is for closing an existing Tilia account. Also what happens to your SL account if Tilia terminates your account.
