  1. I do it because I find it mostly enjoyable, nothing more, nothing less. It is possible to enjoy interaction with others without being too preoccupied or concerned by the responses. It isn't that I don't care at all, it's just that I don't put very much weight on it. There was a time when I let online responses affect me much more. I didn't like the effect it had on me and I withdrew. I have learned not be like that any more.
  2. Definitely different internal voices for different moods, contexts, subjects, etc. I am never sure how the things I say are perceived or what impression they give though. However I don't really care that much either as I post for myself more than for any other.
  3. When I see the word "exclusive" at an event my mind interprets it the same way as "the best product ever and now with more awesome!"
  4. When I press the notification "bell", I would like to see only notifications I have not already seen. Its not a big issue for me but I don't see the point of notifications hanging around once seen.
  5. I have wondered this too. Even if you go to the notification page there is no option to clear them down. I see notifications as a time limited piece of information and serves no purpose once it is past.
  6. Who am I? I am the shadows near the end of the day. A lone figure at the corner of your eye. The wind that howls through city streets. A cold shiver down your spine at night. A distant dream of a far away place. Once treasured moments lost in time. Faded memories of a life once lived. The cold heart that beats no more. The mystery that gnaws at your mind. Inevitable decay that comes what may. A brief sigh carried by the breeze. A forlorn cry under a dark moon. Who am I indeed.
  7. I keep top level folders to a minimum to reduce clutter and the need to scroll the inventory window. One way to do this is to put your own folders inside one top level folder called something like ".My Stuff" The full stop at the front of the name is one way of making the folder stay near the top of the folder list is the list is sorted alphabetically. The quicker your eye can locate the starting point of your own folder structure, the better.
  8. Any method of storing information in a hierarchical form is highly personal and relies on how your own brain finds it easiest to locate information within it. So how does a person know how to store information that best suits themselves? Mostly by trial and error but using SL clothing as an example, you could start by asking the question "when I want to wear something, what do I first look for?" For some it might be vendor but others use clothing type or style. The answer to this question gives you the top level of your folder structure. Once you know the top level you can drill down and define what folders should be at each level for optimal access in the structure by asking yourself further questions, "What type of clothing? (e.g. dress), what length of dress? (e.g. mini), what style (e.g. glam)". If, after defining your folder structure, you find it hard to locate things then you have learned that this is not how your brain works and will have to try changing the structure until it becomes easier. It is a highly iterative process.
  9. I use firestorm almost exclusively now and find the official viewer painful to use on the odd occasion I need to check something. The main draws for me are the additional features and the ability to configure it to the way I want. I am also a Linux user and LL dropping Linux support was a big issue for me. Kudos and my thanks to FS devs for keeping that alive.
  10. There is an official in-world Firestorm support group that provides free support to anyone who needs it, is excellent and very responsive. I have personally seen them tackle complicated configuration issues and managed to find the likely root cause in many cases.
  11. This is depressing but I think that in 100 years the most likely scenario is that Second Life and Linden Lab are long forgotten as the remnants of humanity struggle to survive on a toxic dying world with few remaining resources.
  12. Just a shade over 36.5K items currently. I regularly get rid of things that are no longer useful. I keep product boxes but delete the unpacked items that I know I will not use. This is most effective for clothing and I can get rid of items for other body types, box animations, box scripts, LMs and notecards. Assets for older projects I work on are either archived in boxes, or have their master copies on my PC and are deleted except for the finished items. My inventory mostly stays between 35-38K.
  13. We...the dead, would still be here as we always have been. We do of course welcome all in this thread to join us one day...
  14. I also found this forum thread from 2005 which directly discusses prim torture types in the second post: http://forums-archive.secondlife.com/8/47/75901/1.html
  15. Yes, I did realise that. However it was the description that preceded it I felt might add something to the discussion considering it was from 2009.
  16. This is the earliest guide that I could find for tortured prims, make of it what you will: Second Life torture guide
  17. I thought it was kidnappers but I could be mistaken ?
  18. I don't have any idea but for me it only appears when I am logged in, not when I am logged out. This is when I am logged out:
  19. PSA: We all know who is behind these heinous kidnappings...?‍♀️
  20. Well I'm not from the US either and that's two of us, so must be true ?
