Where did everyone go on the Blake Sea?

I have lived at Balboa Pacific for probably 5 years.  The airports and docks used to be flooded with people as well as residents at their homes.  It seems like a ghost town now.   Blake Sea used to be the desired place to live.  Is there a new spot that people are migrating to?   I do like ground level water plots, which is why Blake was so appealing, but its so quiet now.

Bellisseria is mainly empty as well.
I hopped around from home to home a bit lately because of my new SL business.
There are hardly people in most sims and even half of the houses and boats are totally not or very modestly decorated (like a bed and a chair somewhere and that's it)

Why would you pay rent or tier on the Blakes when you can get a houseboat in Belli?

I wish there was some advantage to owning mainland, even sea-front, but with the imbecilic non-covenant that allows scenery-walls and sea-encroaching ban-lines I hate it.  So I save my money.

Mainland was mainly very ugly in 2007 when I started and evolved into empty and ugly in 2021 IMHO.

All at Sirens Isle, apparently!

A lot of people there usually, yeah. Many of them seem to be AFK though, just showing off their boats and .. Other things starting with 'b'!

There's usually a fair few people around, but they're occasionally spread out.

Siren's Isle (hangout), Barbossa (infohub) and Union Passage (SWF headquarters) usually always have at least a couple of green dots each. Plus the people sailing, flying, or swimming around the sea.

There is a lot of activity around Bellisseria, and whilst many of the regions are empty at any given time, and a lot of them have just one or a few people in them, there are events and meetups daily, and occasionally some of the regions are quite busy - same as any other mainland continent, really. The 'thing' with Bellisseria, just like the old Linden Home regions, is that being residential only, people can't build social venues there - LL's community points are cool, and there's usually a few visitors at most of them at any given time, but with how limited they are to what you can do there (people can't rez or change the music stream), people who are looking to socialise and hold events do so elsewhere.

I'm not looking for a house boat.   I live on a 5000m2 Estate and it has an enforced Covenant.

There's no need for people to be close to each other in SL. With teleportation everyone is one click away. A map in SL is not the same as map in RL. We don't exist in XYZ distance from one another. You need to think 4-dimensionally.

We do, and you can traverse the world to get places. Teleportation doesn't remove that, it just allows people to be lazy .. I wouldn't mind if LL introduced a teleportation fee, it's more fun to travel across the world anyway! At least when teleporting to/from places actually connected at some point. Private sims that aren't accessible might need to be an exception .. Unless they'd make the void between disconnected sims traversable!

on this part

i always liked the idea of being able to extend the teleport time window.  We can set it to 0 (so goes like it does now - insta teleport). Or we can set it to some time like say 5 minutes or even 1 hour

then we can create a 3D interactive traversable scene in the teleport window for ourselves and/or for our visitors. We could make a spaceship scene. We could make a sleigh ride scene. And so on

I've been toying with the idea that during teleports, you see the map, and it zooms way out, then zooms in on your destination. Give the user a sense of where they are in the world. Like what Google Earth does.

A LOT of places seem even more empty than usual. I suspect that a full year of being told that contact with others is potentially deadly has a lot of us staying in our SL homes, just like we do in our RL homes. To be honest, a lot of the ways I used to have fun seem kinda stupid and frivolous now, so I'll probably be visiting fewer busy places.

Who knows, when our worlds finally re-open safely maybe we'll all return to our old SL dance party routines.

@WaiomaoI think it's because we are all getting too old for this.  I'm 26 now, and all the stuff I used to do in SL seem sort of childish.

It is all about what you do in and want and expect from SL.
If you stick to the things you are used to do in SL, than it can become boring. Just like in RL.
There are very few people who keep partying every weekend or hang out with the same people all their lives in RL either.

When I was in my teens, I could not wait until it was weekend again, because party time.
Now I'm sixty+  and my best weeks are those with very little or nothing in my agenda so I can do whatever I feel like doing.
Like editing my posts. :)
