Recent updates to the group chat system

yep, just added myself to the Jira. It's been 4 days since ANY of my groups worked. However my store alt can see and chat in all. Doesn't matter the viewer. I updated didn't work. Uninstalled, reinstalled didn't work. I can chat one on one and I can start multiple people chats but none of the groups work right now for me.

On the fifth day of GroupChatmas...

Oh wait, no five gold rings for me. But I did finally get into the group chat tonight. Whether that will continue to hold or not is anyone's guess, but both I and my fellow chat-deprived CSR managed to see the full participants list and also participate in chat this evening.

Same. I tested this AM and couldn't see chat but after noon I logged in and could see and participate in all my groups again.

It was fine for me this morning. But recently this has been going every week just about. Weekdays are fine weekends its starts to mess up again. L$10 says it breaks again Friday night

For me today all seemed fine in FS support English, I could see moderator chat and users asking questions.  Then I typed my question and....BOOM...the group chat died for me, I got the message dropped error and nothing more appeared despite my closing and reopening that group chat multiple times.  Other  groups also "seemed" to be working but I refrained from further comment and most seemed to run for about 30 minutes until I TPed, when it all went "poof" until I relogged.

It's quite probable that LL did nothing.  I have seen this pattern of working/not working for months now.

I don't think BUG-229219 - Group Chat Being disabled after teleport
is fixed yet.

Maestro talks about the issue of having to send too many updates for avatars going online/offline in a group, but I don't think it is necessary to send updates to the viewer for every single person in the group.

How about being semi-smart about it. Give the viewer the option to request the data paginated, and let the viewer subscribe to individual residents. IE if you were scrolled such that page 2 of the online-in-group api is visible, the viewer only subscribes to the online/offline events of whoever is visible on page 2. If someone goes offline on page 3, the viewer does not need to know about it

Sure the scrollbar might then jump when you scroll as the people who were originally on page 2 have become page 3 as more people log in, but it's not so bad. The viewer could then only subscribe to new people coming online in the group if there is empty space in the list that the user would expect to fill up with people as they sign in
