There is always a chance for a teleport failure, based on several factors, mostly your connection to the SL servers, and the connection between the region hosts and other servers. It would be a miracle if LL could ever eliminate teleport and sim crossing failures entirely. The grid status incident you're referring to was probably an increased case of teleport and sim crossing failures reported to support, and probably had a common source which they might have fixed, but that doesn't eliminate the other factors which might sometime result in a TP failure.

Yes, I know all that, but what is happening is something unusual. I just remain in the sim where I am, the progress bar doesn't move, no teleport failure message nor does the system log me out. It's been happening everywhere, trying to teleport anywhere.
After what I think is a fair amount of time, I just cancel the teleport, move around to make sure I'm not stuck and retry to a different location, with the same result.
I repeat: this is new, from what I can tell.

I'm not surprised, I had severe issues with group chats not originating from my end, for a whole week before it got working again (this week), and I didn't hear from many people (actually, no more than 2) that they'd have the same issue, so it is possible that you're still getting serious teleport issues due to an error on SL's side. You can send a support ticket at https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new and describe the issue there, so specialists can see it and determine where the issue is coming from.

A friend of mine had a very similar tp crash just an hour ago, teleporting from the other side of a wall to a landmark near me. I was camming her as she teleported. She disappeared from view and I cammed back to me. Parts of her briefly appeared, then she was gone! Her relog put her back where she originally was.

These failures are still happening, but maybe not enough to trigger many complaints?

The workaround I use, which is perhaps successful in 3 out of 5 attempts, is to cancel the stuck TP and then move position perhaps a metre or so, and try again, either to the same destination or to another. This usually works, when it fails I get the grey screen and the crocodile-tears message saying I had been disconnected.

It hasn't been working for me. I always try that a few times, but maybe it's just that don't have the patience to keep doing it for half an hour. 😜

It seems all that was needed for all those sims with teleport problems was a restart, and the work that has been done yesterday seems to have finally fixed the issues. I haven't had a single failure today so far, teleporting from/to regions where I had failures before.

I thought I would let you all know...

Oz said they'd noticed an increase in Teleport failures In this blog post

My failure rate is certainly far higher than 2% (1 in 50) - mine's more like 5% (1 in 20), though fortunately not all result in a disconnect

I'm also noticing occasions where the TP "completes" but the viewer still has the progress bar and you appear frozen until you click cancel. - everything seems OK afterwards.

Every second or third teleport now I get kicked off. Any word on this being fixed yet? It's been going on too long! >.<

I think the latest word on this came from Oz Linden, on 16th October, when he said, "

  • Increased Teleport Failures
We have seen a slight increase in the frequency of teleport failures. I know that if it's happened to you it probably doesn't feel like a "slight" problem, especially since it appears to be true that if it's happened to someone once, it tends to keep happening for a while. Measured over the entire grid, it's just under two percentage points, but even that is unacceptable. We're less sure of the specific causes for this (including whether or not it's Uplift related), but are improving our ability to collect data on it and are very much focused on finding and fixing the problem whatever it is."

It is quite frustrating when it happens. It's much much more frequent if you are heavily scripted. This makes sense due to all the tasks that need to occur to move all those running scripts from one region to another (this is only ONE of the many factors, but it seems to be a big one.)

On the down side, "heavily scripted" now seems to be anything over 100. With modern mesh, etc. it can sometimes be hard to get your script count down due to all the HUDs required for mesh and other things, all these nomod clothes that have several scripts each for texturing even for the clothes that you buy single color and have no options to change anything (Booooooo to lazy creators and Booooooo to all this nomod stuff!)

It can help to minimize what you wear and ONLY wear those extra HUDs when absolutely needed. I use the Appearance tool and have a "!!!Common" outfit folder at the top that has links to all my common bits and parts that I can easily add as needed. Minimizing my own script usage absolutely reduces my TP failures / disconnects, but they still happen frequently.

If as suggested in another post here you hit Cancel on a TP that is taking too long and can still move after you hit cancel, taking off some stuff and trying again may result in success.

Another option is to keep a favorite LM to some completely empty sim like an ocean area and TP to that as an intermediate stop before TPing to your final destination. It doesn't work in all cases but it seems to be much more reliable doing it that way.

Good luck!

Thats not working for me very often.  I mostly get logged out during a failing teleport.

How long you wait for that progress bar is a huge factor here. I only wait for about 25% before hitting cancel. If it's not CLEARLY working within about 5 seconds I hit cancel and try the empty sim.

Well, apparently today TP's are failing much MUCH more often. In fact, it's about a 10% success rate for me. If that. To or from a busy sim fails 100% of the time. To or from completely empty sims such as Linden ocean fails 50% of the time. LL: It's time to stop blaming the user and fix your broken code.

Running an estate I have to TP a LOT.  I'm crashing about every 4th TP going from one region to another, never within the same region.  Today it was about every 2nd TP.  On TPs where I crash I never get the cancel button.  I've tried everything - complete uninstall and clean install, different viewers, stripping down to invisible sans huds while derendering everything and lowering draw distance to 32, changing to low settings.  Nothing makes any difference.  I crash just as much lean as I do with everything turned way up.  I have a super high-end computer and a fibre connection.  You know what the most frustrating part is?  My son in the basement TPs a LOT too and he never crashes.  Similar PC and same viewer.  This is starting to feel personal.

Yes, as I've suspected earlier, this probably hits some users much more than others, and so when looking only at the rate of failed teleport attempts overall, it would definitely not show any big outstanding rate. 10 days ago I said I haven't had any failed teleports out of 300-400 teleports of the previous weeks. In the last 10 days, I racked up about 150 (or more) teleports, (30+ today), and only a single one failed (somewhere around the 100th one a few days ago). So I hope the team working on these issues will try to look into why certain people get a lot more failed teleport attempts, because if we blend the sample size of different users' teleports, the overall failure rate sure doesn't tell anything about the issue behind.

I just did a test with an alt.  I never use alts but I wanted to see if this really is personal (related to my avatar) and sure enough, I did at least 20 rapid fire TPs before finally crashing.  I could NEVER do that on my main avatar.  Any avatar would have crashed after the test I did, I was surprised it didn't happen sooner.  This is just nuts.  The settings/viewer/PC/Internet - all the same, only the avatar was different. wtf?

I thought I've read elsewhere that it has to do with a large flat inventory.
