  1. Don't forget Izzies. She has some lovely dark shades.
  2. That's an adjustment in the size of the field within the script. I'm not that good with particles, but I do know that much...grins.
  3. Let me clarify. What I meant was that inexpensive in SL can mean that you don't have support outside of the native language of the creator, in this case Japanese. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, other than that if you need support help, you're going to have a problem. There is another viewer you can use on android devices othe than Lumiya called LittleSite. Unfortunately, when you go to their website, it's all in Japanese. So, I had to go to Lumiya. Just one of those things you have to be aware of when you acquire things in SL since it's an international world. You won't always get English support.
  4. Close is the better term. If you have a calling card for a player that has closed their account, you can still get their profile from that though you can't access it if you just search. One of the quirks of SL.
  5. Even with the safeguards they have, with opening up the accounts to social networking, like the feeds tab we now have, I'm getting spammed by someone trying to get me to buy my Lindens through them. I can imagine what would happen with a LL sponsored email.
  6. Are you trying to set one up or use it inworld? Using it to get the gifts is easy enough. Setting it up is a bit dfferent. You have to load the gifts in. CasperVend uses a dropbox that the website links to, I believe. So, if the OP is trying to set one up and the website where you set up the links for the gifts is in Japanese, there's a problem. You'd actualy be better off getting a decent company, like CasperVend or Hippovend. Cheap get you websites in Japanese. I paid something like 1K L for a full CasperVend system with vending boards for my products as well as lucky chairs and a gift card system. That' about $5 USD so not that expensive. To use one, as said below, you wait until the letter of your first name appears and have to be the first one to click it. Then you get the prize. Lucky Chairs, you're the first one to sit in the chair to get the prize. Good luck
  7. I believe you get a notice that it will be there for X number of days in case you decide you don't want to deleate the account after all. The actual name and account info will be in the database for years. I was able to retrieve an account I'd deleted 3 years ago and then decided I wanted it back since it had a real last name. Not only was I able to get the account back, but all the inventory was still there. Just an FYI.
  8. There are several things you can try. First, an explanation of what's going on. When you are an orange cloud, that means you aren't synched up to your inventory. To run an avatar on SL, it requires 3 different servers; the one your avi was originally created on, the one your inventory is on and yes, it's on a different server than your avi data is on, and the one for the sim you are standing in. A failure on any of the 3 will give you problems. The orange cloud generally means a connection problem with your inventory First, log in on the official SL viewer and then check and see if your inventory is loading and you aren't a cloud. This way you can determine if it's on your end, your viewer or SL. If you rez fine on the official viewer then your problem is with the viewer you are using. If you're still having the problem on the SL viewer there are other steps you can take. First do a character test. This will reset your avi and should force a reconnection. If that doesn't work, you'll have to do the dreaded clear cache. Since your problem does involve texture rendering, it's a logical step. Before you log off after setting to clear cache, go to a quiet sim, like Pooley. Then log off and log back in. Don't move, don't do anything until your inventory has loaded. You should now no longer be a cloud and have your avi rendered. Good luck.
  9. Particles are easy to deal with...just turn your particles down to 0. Particles are one of those things that if there isn't anyone to see them, they aren't there. They affect you client side rather than the sim, if they are true particles and not a prim generator.
  10. Reading this, if the person was underage, harrassing her wasn't the answer. ARing her to LL was the appropriate response. LL takes underaged players very seriously and will ban them. If they are old enough to be in SL, they have to provide the proof. Let the mechanisms in place deal with it rather than becoming a vigilante.
  11. One thing you CAN do, is on YouTube, right underneath the video, is a little flag you can use to report objectionable material. You Tube has thousands of videos being uploaded every day. There is no way they can police them all. When you find one like that, flag it so they can take it down.
  12. hmmm. In the Firestorm viewer it's avatar/preferences/firestorm/general/render blocked avatar as particle cloud. It's about halfway down on that tab. Not sure about other viewers.
  13. Check out Bryn Oh's The Singularity of Kimiko.
  14. Frank's used to have people that were hired that they were there just to provide a dance partner and conversation. You might check and see if they still do.
  15. Arer you talking about a custom skin or a custom tat for the skin? If the skin, you can expect to pay 5-10K Linden if not more. You'd be better off looking around the grid. You'll probably find that exactly what you want already exists. If a tat, depends on how intricate we're talking. There are several on the grid that you can find by searching for custon tats.
  16. A good DJ, and yes, I've done DJ work, will welcome everyone periodically during their set. They will also let people know they can IM and make requests. I alway had my set about 15 minutes or so shorter than what the time allotted was to allow for the requests. Depending on the size of the venue, they may or may not be responsible for welcoming as people come in. They need to thank people when they get tips, whether it be an autorespond or on their own. A hostess may or may not be needed. If you expect more than 20 or so people, you need one. The DJ can't keep up with requests and welcome people. If they are going to remind people to tip, it should only be once every 1/2 hour, max. Something like, if you like the DJ don't forget to show your appreciation. Dancers, only if your club is sex related. If you do have dancers, they need to be able to emote properly, not just spin on the pole. Their thanks for tips should be individually tailored to the person that tips. The emotes as they dance should be more spontaneous, not canned that they just cut an paste.
  17. Actually, there are a few things SL can do to help with the griefing problem. Many griefers use huds and other items for sale that the only use for them is griefing. The creators get away with selling them by posting a disclaimer the the items are for entertainment purposes and they are not responsible for the uses others put the creations to. Let's call a spade a spade and call them what they are, tools for griefing others, nothing more nothing less. As such, they should be banned from the grid and the creators given a warning. There are some very limited uses that these tools could be put to legitimately. The makers won't admit it, but they were written to be used for griefing and harrassment of other players.
  18. I believe, if you look in your preferences, you can change that. I think you have the option of making them gray or a cloud. They don't make them invisible because you would then run into them because you couldn't see them.
  19. There are several places I've heard about that use SL for those with social anxiety disorder to start opening up since they can do it anonymously in SL. They learn to relax. It's also used as therapy for stroke and brain trauma patients to help them regain some cognitive and physical function since it requires both left and right brain functions. Just not advertised much.
  20. Check out the art displays. Bryn Oh, in particular. He has a series of interactive art projects he's done over the years that tell a story. Currently, it's The Singularity of Kumiko. If you go, do be sure to follow the directions he has at the landing point for your windlight settings to enjoy the full immersion. Come Halloween, check out the Sn@tch interactive Halloween "haunted house." Look at the destinations guide for other ideas.
  21. In the sim I admin in, we used to have a 7 day requirement. A griefer is usually jonesing to cause mischief and don't want to wait that long, so yes, it's a security measure. As for why, they do have a few shops there that are worth going to. It's all about the shopping.
  22. One other thing to check. Are you walking on Linden land or on a prim/sculpt/mesh surface. If the latter, it can be poorly created mesh, a prim stretched too big (mega prims don't work really well for floors), or with sculpts, they forgot a collision prim so your feet sink into the phantom prim. Just something else to consider.
  23. You do know where being sent to the cornfield came from, right? It's from the short story by Jerome Bixby that was made into a Twilight Zone episode, It's a Good Life. Starred Billy Mumy. He made the town go away from the rest of the world. When he got upset with someone, he'd send them to the cornfield. Of course, those were never seen or heard from again. Yay for trivia.
  24. If they are publishing members details, that's an AR offense, FIle it. LL takes that one extremely seriously. As for how, there are several legal ways to get your IP address that can narrow down your area to the country, city and sometimes city block. When you listen to streaming music in SL, there is a way to get the info. That's the exploit that the old Red Zone thing was using.
  25. I believe they still bring that back on Halloween.
