  1. As well as Firestorm, there's the Restrained Love Viewer (original RLV code), Singularity, UKanDo, Catznip and Kokua. I've no idea if Alchemy or Black Dragon have RLV/RLVa support. Links (including Firestorm, which is many people's favourite) available on the Third Party Viewer Directory. eta: the Lumiya Android viewer also has RLV if you need it on a mobile viewer.
  2. hmmm? Oh, pony-play. Most of the internet got over being freaked out by that before 2006. Do try again if you find something actually shocking.

  4. By my personal definition, the OP is a newbie, not a noob. Newbies are inexperienced, prone to mistakes, and curious; but most importantly, eager to learn. Newbies are invaluable. Noobs are know-it-alls, prone to blaming everyone and everything else for their mistakes, demanding of attention, and never seem to learn. Noobs are ten a penny. Newbies remind you of what it's like to learn and struggle. Noobs remind you of the Mute button.
  5. I think creative differences would be a big problem. Given the ego required to believe that you can run a successful club when so many have failed, who would want to join up with someone else? Especially if you're already thought of as a 'decent' club. Added to that, there's the issue of communication. Got two decent clubs that might do well from a merger? Fine, but there's a good chance they've never heard of each other, even if they were prepared to work together. eta: I'm not saying it couldn't be done, just that the obstacles seem like a lot to overcome with no guarantee of any gain.
  6. My L$2-worth. Owning a club is rarely a profitable venture and they close when the owner can no longer justify the expense of running one. And yes, people enjoy the cachet of owning a club. It's a little empire that they can run just as they see fit. So clubs close and new ones open. A small number thrive for various reasons: a rich owner who truly enjoys the experience and or perceived status; wealthy and generous patrons who enjoy the club for its atmosphere or music; or some other quality which consistently draws in tipping guests. Merging two (or more) failing clubs is no guarantee of creating a successful one, and if you're already successful, why join with someone who's doing badly?
  7. Impossible to know with the information you've given. Are you using a mesh avatar or a 'classic' one? Are you wearing classic 'layer' clothing, mesh or applier? Do you have an up-to-date veiwer which will render mesh correctly? And as Alwin suggested, are you wearing alphas which you don't need?
  8. Possibly a stream of particles? As no-one else had ideas I thought I'd throw it out as a possibility. Try turning visible particles down to zero in graphics preferences to see if it goes away. If it does, the next trick will be to track down & remove whatever is emitting them.

  10. For system avs with some rigged mesh boots, changing the knock-knee/bow-legged slider on your shape can improve the alignment (when the boots look to be the right size, but your legs don't line up properly with the tops). Otherwise, as others have posted, it could be down to wearing the wrong combination of shoe and foot.

  13. Don't respond verbally or retaliate. Don't escalate the action in any way, because that's exactly the response a griefer wants. Fill out an abuse report; there's no guarantee it'll be acted on, but maybe he'll get a warning or ban. If he's pushing or you go afk, sit on something. No force on the grid (short of a ban, sim crash or act-of-Linden) will move you if you're sitting. There are scripted anti-push devices but I've never bothered with them.
  14. It's not just low-end PCs. My PC, for example, crushes the minimum spec and considerably exceeds the recommended spec. More RAM, faster CPU, several generations of graphics card. Nowhere hear high-end gaming, but pretty decent. It runs relatively recent titles at satisfactory quality and speed. It is not a 'glorified word processor'. SL can still bring it to a grinding halt. Recently I've been running with considerably reduced graphics quality to improve frame-rate. It helps a lot in busy areas. Heavily loaded avatars certainly make a difference. And some people are happy to run around wearing everything but the kitchen sink. Some are aware of it, some aren't. An acquaintance of mine, knowing Avatar Complexity is now an issue, switched her 450K+ avatar for... a 720K+ avatar.

  17. *cough* avatar *cough* Although that's hardly unique to SL (and strictly speaking, Sanskrit).
  18. I used to love that site; such a pity it stopped updating. Just the other day I was shopping for a male alt when I ran into a guy with a mostly well put together av. Perhaps a little 'over-groomed', but over all quality components, except for... I'll let the photo tell the story: I'm calling it 'guy-gap'. I'm used to seeing it on female avs (thankfully far less than a few years back with the hordes of scowling 'invisible pony riders') but this is the first time I've seen it on a guy. Certainly to this extent. Then wouldn't you know, I saw this vendor in the next store I visited:

  20. Continuing options in the guessing game: the OP wants to change her av but can't find its folder in inventory? Or changed it and wants to change back, and can't work out how? I won't offer further advice until I know the actual problem.
  21. Loved that for years, first the Stranglers' cover then the original.
  22. In general, laptops are not great for SL. That one in particular, however... would be terrible.

But you can always make a new account and avatar in project sansar too. Inventory from Secondlife ou can not use anyway. *shakes magic eight-ball* LL have said that SL names will be transferable. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that account names will be less significant and display names (or the Sansar equivalent) more important. This is based on the whole 'world of worlds' concept that LL seem to be aiming at, where some names might not be appropriate for certain settings.
