  1. Nope - the first gen themes are rustic cabin, fantasy dwelling, Japanese and suburban: If you've seen space/futuristic themed home areas they are not by LL.
  2. Would anyone be interested in a futuristic/space theme? Noone's mentioned it yet. I think that could look really cool. Perhaps it wouldn't be so popular?
  3. I would jump at the chance to have a house like that in SL! Quite similar to some of the Meadowbrook houses. I love it!
  4. I think underwater homes could be really beautiful:) I forget sometimes that there are places to explore in the sea, thanks for reminding me!
  5. Minus one... I don't want one, so someone else can have it😁 I reckon when they eventually release the next round of themes everyone will probably want that one instead and abandon the boats/houses from this round...:)
  6. The new houses and houseboats seem to have been a hit, and new styles will be coming (eventually I hear). Great! I can't wait to see what LL roll out next. The new houseboat designs are really nicely done, but they, and the houses, aren't really my cup of tea, so I won't be trying to grab one on the next batch release. I have a first generation Meadowbrook house, and I love it! Two floors, spacious, neighbours don't feel too close where I am, nice lot of grass around outside. I hope future themes will be as roomy (these new ones don't feel like it to me). I think it's gonna have to be something really cool for me to switch, until I eventually get forceably made homeless removed and have to choose...which is what I've read will eventually happen (sob sob). I'd love something similarly minimalist, with nice areas outside, and a decent view (not a brick wall like I've seen in some of the old houses...) So if you could make the decisions about future LL homes, what styles/themes would you like to see?
  7. I imagine it's quite common not to feel like a good conversationalist. It's not something we're taught to do 'well', we just bumble along. I'm not good at striking up conversations, but I quite enjoy in depth conversations that are more like discussions, rather than small talk to fill in spaces. I'm happy to listen to other people do all the talking too, just because it means I don't have to try so much to think of anything interesting to say lol, just nod and smile:) Doesn't mean I'm not listening though!
  8. I look pretty old lol - in SL terms. I don't have a mesh avatar, no standing or walking animations, and my skin in years old. But I love it, so am not changing it!:) I did try looking for an updated skin a couple of years ago but nothing I saw looked any good on my avatar. Not fond of the air brushed look, and I think I'm now sentimentally attached to my old skin (shown with some eye makeup designs) 😀
  9. "What's this game about..?" ARrrrggh! It's a virtual world! 😀
  10. I bought a horse a while back and use it sometimes to explore the mainland highways. Quite fun! There are stops on some of the routes with maps of the mainlaind, which I blogged about https://evangelinearcadia.blogspot.com/2014/10/road-tripping-second-life-routes-route-9.html There are rez points on most routes so if you have a vehicle you can rez it and use it to travel on the highway. Or the little pods are fun too.
  11. Well it's solved - typical, just as I ask for help. I don't know what the problem was. I tried another headphone with mic, didn't get very far, so took those out and plugged in the original, relogged into SL and now their working....wasted half hour....
  12. I've tried to find solutions but am really stuck so I'm hoping some friendly soul can help: I'm trying to use voice in SL (I have used it in the past without issue but not for a while). I have my headphone (mic included) plugged in. In my SL preferences I have input set to my mic and output set to my headphones. In SL I can see the voice dot over my head but I'm getting no green sound waves when I talk. I've tried logging in and out and rebooting my computer. Nothing seems to work. I've attached a screenshot of the settings. I can hear sounds and other people talking okay. Really stumped as to what to do next:(
  13. I remember Midnight Reflections. I loved it there. So sad that it's gone:( I have a few pics in my inventory still from my visits. Makes me feel quite nostalgic...
  14. I've just started a flickr group for pics with the aim of sharing shots of interesting/creative/fun/beautiful places anyone's visited in SL, so others can be inspired to visit too. Feel free to join (please read group rules first). I've only put a few photos up (most are in my general photostream), but hope to add more soon and see more great places from other SL folks:) https://www.flickr.com/groups/secondlifeadventurers
  15. Well my pics aren't as good as those above but here's my pad(s). The first one I built recently. I really wanted to be by the sea, but it's on mainland so in front (not shown) I put some sand and waves with sound effect. Very tranquil. Had to really reduce the draw so I don't have to look at the other builds around... The second set are on my LL house. I really wanted a nice balcony with a decent view - had to change houses a few times till I go this one. So chuffed with it. Love chilling on the balcony. I've kinda got addicted to buying furniture and bits for my homes, even though I don't use most of what's in my inventory.
  16. Yeah the destination guide can be good. I also recommend just exploring - get to one of the SL highways and just roam. You can find some interesting little builds tucked away. If you have a vehicle there are rezz points so you can drive along if you want (or get yourself a horse). If you like learning stuff or would like to know how to build objects or script in SL there are classes too. They can be fun. If you like conversing there are also various groups that meet up for talks, chat or just to hang out. If you like role play there are role play groups. There's lots of art to discover too (both SL and real life generated). Depends really what you like doing. Basically if there are things you enjoy in real life there'll be a SL counterpart somewhere. There's way more to SL than sex and shopping
  17. Thanks for your reply Chaser. Yes, I've seen a few posts about 900 series cards, but I couldn't find anyone mentioning the 10 series. Just want to be sure they'll work okay before getting them:)
  18. Hi there, I'm thinking of upgrading my PC this year and am looking at getting either a Nvidia GTX 1070 or 1080. Since the 10 series isn't listed in the official specs for SL I was wondering if anyone is using either of these and how they are with Second Life. Thanks!:)
  19. I love wandering and exploring in SL. That and shopping are about the only things I do (and build/revamp my park). I never ceased to be surprised and delighted by the beautiful and interesting places people build here. I actually feel quite nostalgic and sad when places disappear. I remember some places back from when I first started in SL (years ago). I also hardly ever see anyone on my travels. Can depend where it is. If it's a place in the destination guide there might be a few people but otherwise usually not. Favourite vehicle: I've tried some bikes and cars along the linden highways (there are rezz points which is great) but always found the steering a bit temperamental. So it's mostly on foot and flying, and I did buy a really super horse this year which is really fun to ride around on when exploring. The original post reminds me I have a boat somewhere in my inventory, so will have to get that out more. Weirdest place: Hmmm, can't think of anything I'd call weird straight off...that might just be because what's normal to me is weird to someone else:) ...might come back to that one... Favourite place: Too many to list them all and the list changes over time as builds come and go. Some of the older ones still around (I think - haven't been in the last few months) are: Svarga Riverwalk and cliffhouse Alirium Tthe Partical Lab at Teal (Ethereal Teal) Bay city (the waterways) Goatswood. Right now I'm mainly exploring Christmas and winter themed places. There are some really nice one in the destination guide. It can be fun just to TP to a random spot on the mainland map, or follow one of the linden highways (there are maps of them). I've found some lovely spots along them off the road, such as a unique creepy circus along route 9. You have to keep your eye open as some are a little way back, but you can find some good spots along the highways. I've also found some beautiful underwater places too in SL. I have a blog just about exploring in SL and nice places I've found and some pictures on Flickr and in my SL gallery, mainly to have as a kind of photographic history for when places disappear and to show others places to explore (whilst they are there). Great thread, will have to come back to see places others post.
