  1. It would be a good idea if you gave an idea of what you consider 'cheap' and if you want it furnished or not. Some people might consider 2000K a week for a furnished two bedroom cheap while you may be wanting to pay a lot less.
  2. We would have no idea when a merchant will be back. We don't even know they went anywhere, but if they did, they could be on vacation or out of town for other reasons. They could be ill or have a RL emergency going on. The point is that merchants are people just like everyone else who have RL's and some can't log into SL everyday. As noted in the answers for your previous question, most of these merchants have redelivery terminals. Did you go to their shops to get redelivery? Merchants may not be willing to take up their time to send you a replacement when you can easily get one yourself, especially since it was your fault you lost the items. The other possibility is if you sent them a note asking for replacements, they just may not be responding yet. Did you provide proof of purchase when you asked for replacements, such as a copy of your transaction record or at least a date of purchase? If not the merchant will have to look it up in their records which could take a long time.
  3. You would upload it like any other texture. It is what you do with it in SL that matters. If it is a skin texture, in your inventory create a new skin then wear it. Go to appearance and Edit Outfit. Find the body parts tab and choose the skin to mod. Then apply the textures you uploaded. If you really want to use skin textures as clothing rather than skin, the procedure is the same. However instead of creating a new skin, create a new shirt, pants etc. or a tattoo.
  4. We answer questions here about SL and how it works. We don't provide product support or give opinions on products. You should post your question in the regular forum for advice and opinions. (points to the tab that says forums at the top)
  5. The alpha link I sent you is for shoes with prim feet or boots that cover the whole foot. The shoes in the picture are old school. You need to wear a shoe base that will force your foot into the right position. Then you need an alpha that will cover just the part of the foot in the shoe not the part that is visible on the top of the shoe. That will have to be custom made for those shoes. Shoes without feet are so old school there is little support for them anymore. I suggest you just trash these types of shoes and buy something up to date. Buying is not all that scary. There are two types of shoes now. One that fit on feet, such as SLink, made out of mesh that replaces the standard avi foot. The advantage is that you only have to match the foot to your avi once. Many skin sellers have appliers that will texture the foot to exactly match their skins. You just buy shoes that fit that foot. The second type comes with a foot in the shoe already but you have to match the feet for each pair of shoes to your avi. Most people find this to be a pain.
  6. Here is a free set of excellent alphas for all types of shoes and boots. You will find what you need in this pack. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Skifija-SET-ALPHA-LAYER-FOR-FOOT-TEXTURES/1474794
  7. You can return them to the owner yourself. Click them and from the menu choose RETURN.
  8. Many furniture makers make their own textures. Even if they don't, they use a basic texture and 'bake' it so that it is custom fitted on the prims and gives that wonderful 3D look.
  9. I would have your friend call billing and ask them. LL will issue invoices for tiers for an organization. They may be willing to issue one for $L's if it is a large enough quantity. 10. Just because someone has not set up autoreturn and has build enabled and seems to have "spare prims" doesn't give anyone license to squat on land that they were not invited to use. The owner may be a new land owner and not realize they need to have autoreturn etc. You also don't know if they have 'spare' prims or not. They could want to use those prims at any time. I am surprised that a supposedly experienced user would advocate this. It is stealing.
  11. We are only volunteer residents here no Lindens read this. We have no access to your account records. You should contact billing to resolve this. 12. You can't. Generally, if you pay the wrong account, you are just out of luck. LL will not reverse the payment. If it really is a deleted account they may help you. Call billing to see, but don't expect them to say yes. 13. LL requires that you have a verified Paypal account. Having 'enough' money in it doesn't count. You must tie your Paypal account to a credit card or bank account. LL needs to be paid immediately for anything you charge to Paypal because you get the $L's or services immediately. If you don't have enough money in your account, it's a problem. There has to be a way that if the charge is more than the amount in your account, Paypal can get the money immediately through a credit card or a bank account. If you don't have a credit card or bank account I am afraid you are out of luck.
  14. Check in your preferences to make sure you have voice enabled and that your mic and headset are set up properly.
  15. I use a mesh body but not a head. I don't like the heads because you can't customize them and look like everyone else with one, and frankly I haven't seen one I thought was pretty. The mesh body I have allowed me to adjust it to the same shape my system avatar has. I am therefore able to wear just about all the mesh clothes I had already, and am able to buy most mesh clothing, rather than having to buy clothing made for my mesh body or just fitmesh clothing. The few pieces of mesh clothing I can't wear with the mesh body is due to the alpha layer. I just wear them with my system avatar when I want to wear them. I personally don't find dressing any more difficult with my mesh body than the system body. The main reason for wearing a mesh body is that it is eliminates the problem areas on the system body. The creator of my mesh body updates it and updates are free. When the new bones project goes mainstream, I'm sure I'll get an update.
  16. I haven't a clue what to do. However, there is a page in the SL Wiki about setting up Flycam. Perhaps it will be helpful. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Flycam

I would feel sorry for him all the same, as I don't believe childish behaviour in an inworld enviroment necessarily deserves dire RL consequences. Some places fire people for logging onto Facebook - harsh, maybe justified depending on the work contract, but I'd still feel sorry for anyone affected by such a RL decision. This wasn't a case of being fired for childish behavior in SL. What he was doing was inconsequential. He was fired for using work computers and time for personal use instead of working which is what he was being paid to do. It is the same thing with banning. You make bad choices and you get banned for life and lose all your stuff you only have yourself to blame. It is part of the consequences of your choices and actions. The fact that you can't see that people have to accept the consequences of their choices shows you to have the mindset of a child.
  18. There is nothing that prohibits selling such items. Just be sure you items are rated adult and you'll be ok.
  19. You can always start one on your own. However, the idea of dressing by group consensus is strange to me. You can always ask a friend who has good taste. Dress to please yourself not other people. You will be a more confident person since you won't be worrying what other people think.

Refer to the online material for a more comprehensive analysis. So which one of the above are you?
  21. This is the only avatar I have used as 'me' since I joined SL. I do have an alt for storage and help with building and animations etc. but "I" have never been anyone but Amethyst. It would feel strange to me to change to another avatar. I agree with Dres. Follow your heart and use the avatar that is "you" and the one you feel most comfortable with.
  22. Poenald Palen wrote: Mav vs. PC...this is such a troll thread! These things always end up in arguments. This was a simple survey with specifically no preference or endorsement one way or the other expressed by the OP, not a troll thread. It was hijacked into a debate on which is better. In reality creators, both SL and RL pros, can now use what ever system they like and do.
  23. SL is a virtual world where you can meet people from all over the world and do pretty much anything you can think of. It is not a game, although you can play games in it. There are no goals other than what you set for yourself. You can spend your time shopping and clubbing, but you can also let your creative side loose and create things that other residents may want to buy. You can help raise money for RL major charities and even take RL college level courses or learn a foreign language and practice it with native speakers. All this just barely scratches the surface. SL does have a learning curve but if you stick with it you will be very glad you did.
  24. You should join the Firestorm user group and ask there. They provide excellent customer service and I am sure can help you with these issues.
  25. You don't HAVE to give any. However it is the right thing to do. I'd contact them to see if they are planning on moving before I said anything. If they are, then problem is solved. If they have decided to stay and pay the higher rent, I would give them at least a week or two to find another place.
