I'd pay my tier as far in advance as 50K would pay it. Not exciting I know, but I either have what I want already or can make it myself.

Surely by now the original creators are aware of what is going on here. It is possible that this person has no agreement with any of the creators and is just saying he sells preloaded dance balls when he is actually just ripping people off. If that's the case, I don't think a DMCA would work since he isn't copying their work, just using their names. While other legal action, such as a law suit, to make him stop is possible, it probably would be hugely expensive, especially if the creators and the thief live in different countries. The lesson here is not to buy from resellers when you can buy from the original creators. These dance balls are not hard to load with dances, in fact most of the time you just put the animations in the edit contents along with a notecard provided by the animation creator or available at the shop where you buy the dance balls. While I haven't priced the loaded dance balls against buying the ball and animations yourself, my guess is you can save some money since you aren't paying someone to load them for you and a profit for a third party.

If you own the land the skybox is on, or have the authority in the group that owns the land, you can hide avatars on the parcel from anyone outside the parcel. To hide avatars on a parcel: Choose World > Place Profile > About Land or right-click on the parcel and choose About Land. Click the OPTIONS tab. Clear the Allow other Residents to / See and chat with residents on this parcel checkbox. By default, this checkbox is selected. If you are unable to do this then ask the owner of the land or landlord to do it.

Sorry I totally disagree with you. LL doesn't ban people for minor offenses, it has to be something very serious or due to continual bad behavior So what if they lose everything they bought for RL money? That is part of the punishment. Despite claims to the contrary, people who get banned know why they were banned and could have behaved in a manner that would not get them banned but chose not to. As far as the incident six years ago, it isn't haunting anything. I doubt you could find 12 people in a crowd of avatars that even remember it. It certainly doesn't haunt me.

Just like RL, land prices are all about LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. The price of mainland varies greatly depending on its location. A lot in the middle of a region with no water, roads or LL protected areas adjacent to it could be as little as $0.5L per sqm. A lot on the shore of the Blake Sea with unobstructed access (no water lots between your lot and the sea) to the sailing there could go for thousands. If you are speaking of the free Linden Home for premium members the answer is no. You can though abandon your home and buy a mainland lot with as many prims as you want and not have to pay tier on the first 512sqm of it.

There is a lot of competition you will deal with doing profile pictures. That said, if you are good at it you may do okay. You need to take the pictures rather than rely on the subject sending you one. Anyone can put a background on a pic, successful people take great photos of their clients too. Business>Retail>Gift Cards and Vouchers is where you would sell you services on MP. You will need to give the purchaser a no copy/ no mod/ transfer gift card they can redeem with you and as proof they purchased your services. You can have various one at different price points, say a standard, pick your background from a portfolio, and one for custom work maybe another set for couple pics, package deals etc. What you charge will depend on the demand for your services. Well known photographers can command high prices where new people like you probably can only ask a few hundred L's. A lot of new people in the field work for free until they build a good portfolio to show prospective clients. Your best bet is to look around at your competition and photographers that do similar work to yours and see what they charge then price yourself competitively keeping in mind you need to build a reputation.

You are confusing things even more. You can't use the 512sqm of tier to 'buy' land. Tier is more like property tax. On the mainland you buy the land using $L's then pay a monthy tier fee for your share of the server and other costs. If you don't own a Linden Home, the first 512sqm is tier free.

I have used Firestorm now for years because all of it's innovative extra features make SL easier both for everyday stuff and building. The official viewer seems like a dinosaur to me when I have to use it. The fact that Firestorm is the most popular viewer (beating out even the official viewer) says a lot.

Yes you can use a transparent texture on parts of clothing you are creating a texture for. Be sure to make a copy of the shadow map BEFORE you do that though in case you ever want to use it as it came. Note that if you do this and someone wears something over it or under it with a texture that has an alpha layer, they most likely will get an alpha layer conflict and it may result in it looking weird. Textures can look solid but still contain an alpha layer depending on how the texture was created. (alpha layers are transparent)

You can file an abuse report but need to be very specific about which part of the TOS you think they are violating and dates and times the offender said what they said. You must be completely innocent and didn't do anything to provoke that name calling in most cases. Proving slander is hard. Most times it boils down to a dispute between residents name calling and LL won't get involved in that.

I can not stress enough do NOT lie about your age. It is more likely than not that You WILL get caught and banned. Most teens just can't pull off acting like adults. Most RL adults if they even suspect your underage will report you because they can get in a lot of trouble if they are caught knowingly associating with teens in an adult area. LL's policy is report anyone you suspect and let them investigate.
