  1. I attempted to verify your report but Boxy 5000 was having none of it.
  2. Tilia is a subsidiary of Linden Research and it would be shocking news if Tilia financial databases were accessible by Linden Lab support workers. Also, there are legit reasons why alts of a single individual might have have different email addresses (mine do) and IP addresses (e.g. VPNs).
  3. There is a Linden-owned private group called Blake Sea (of which I am a member) founded by @Patch Linden. This group includes resident members having the "Race Director" role whose purpose is to administer sailing races. This role grants perms for rezzing and ejecting but in practice these are only exercised as an aspect of race administration. Otherwise, residents are merely roleplayers and have no governance authority. Should you observe what you believe is a TOS violation in the Blake Sea, your should AR the perp. In practice, sailing groups such as the Leeward Cruising Club (of which I am a member) avoid regions such as Sirens Isle and Barbarossa primarily due to lag, but also to avoid interactions with those not respectful of sailors (e.g. griefers and boarders). The regions whose names begin with "Blake Sea" are rated Moderate, however, some bordering regions are rated General. The Maturity Ratings page in the Knowledge Base leaves issues of nudity in Moderate regions open to interpretation but specifically excludes behavior that might "promote sexual conduct". Topless sailing has historically been permitted in Moderate regions.
  4. The knowledge base has sections for English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Italian, Russian, and Turkish. Some, but not all, sections have a Linden Homes article which contains a summary of the covenant and instructs residents as follows I have no idea if viewers used in non-English speaking countries have their text localized.
  5. I would be suprised if Linden Lab allowed this. For starters, this benefit was explicitly defined as an ability for a PP member to request a currently available Linden Home. Nothing more. Also, if allowed, it would provide a means by which a profit seeker could create PP alts for the purpose of acquiring "choice" Linden Homes which could be resold on a dark market and transferred.
  6. The Linden Home Covenant is here https://community.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/english/linden-home-covenant-r1123/ I was unable to find this information in any other language. Note that the URL has "english" in the path, implying that there might be translations. Hope so. If not, perhaps Linden Lab might join the thousands of other companies that have known about Internationalization (I18N) for decades and provide localized products.
  7. As expected, Inara Pey explains it https://modemworld.me/2015/02/24/firestorm-ttt-command-line-shortcuts/ I didn't not even know about this stuff until a year ago. I use "dd" all the time.
  8. I collect Pizza and this one is currently my favorite. Comes with very nice red wine and beer service too.
  9. I have a 2021 Lenovo Legion 5 15IMH05 Laptop CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz (2591.99 MHz) Memory: 32676 MB Concurrency: 12 OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 19044.1826) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 Graphics Card Memory: 4096 MB This laptop is light, runs cool, no fan noise... I normally operate at High + graphics but go to Ultra for photography, 40+ fps typical. Also, looks like a business laptop, no gratuitous gamer styling.
  10. Done! ha ha It's called the The Bellisseria Parade of Homes Listing Here are 4 Open Homes I can personally vouch for Traditional http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Beckridge/198/136/25 Houseboat http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kiva/123/94/22 Stilt on Pier http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Memison/196/72/23 Sakura 512 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Airashii Mogura/158/16/33
  11. Buyer Beware Always verify who owns adjacent parcels. I was just looking at some Satori parcels... one was insanely priced and self described as "access to sailing waters" and mentioned the Blake, however, it was completely cut off from protected water by orbed private parcels. On the flip side, another was reasonably priced (in relative terms), self described as "oceanfront", and has 128m of beach access to protected water. Do your research before buying anything!
  12. This assumes there will be a market of new users with cash to spend on clothing but not enough to spring for Lara (for example). If I were advising a noob who wanted to present as a human female, I would say buy Lara so that you have access to more clothing options that you can imagine, some of it very inexpensive or free.
  13. I think LL realizes this, and when they invented Bellisseria, they did not repeat their error. In Belli, you can navigate by boat between any resident water parcels (houseboat, water stilt, pier stilt). All on protected water. This is the default and no inspection is required.
  14. What she said. For example, here is the situation at Lake Tahoe (in California and Nevada). "“Lake Tahoe is a United States Navigable Waterway and as such no one can own any of the beaches of Lake Tahoe up to 2 feet past the ‘HIGH TIDE LINE’ as per the Federal Navigation Act of 1892." It means that the entire shoreline is accessible to the public by boat.
  15. As anyone who knows me knows, I am all for cooperative use of private waterways on mainland. The fact is, if you buy a mainland parcel with the intent of access to Linden protected water, you must verify that the parcel borders on Linden protected water. Otherwise you are depending upon "the kindness of strangers". Note that said strangers can change at any moment due to them selling the parcel you need to pass thru.
  16. How can Linden Lab position the NUX body for success? diamond speculates... 1. The key is the NU or new user. It is successful only if NUX results in a higher conversion of downloads to "sticks around for some period of time". Consequently, it must lower barriers to entry (not sure exactly what they are addressing). 2. If it is free to existing residents, I will use the new free body on my (human) alts, cause "who cares?" 3. Humans are evolved as visual processing units (VPU™). No matter how good the NUX body looks, we will pattern match it as a NOOB body. Those who wish to present as human and to be "fashionable" (in your own eyes) will avoid it.
  17. I have a scale model of the inner solar system here http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Blung/180/108/3801 It would be fun to put in an animation that demonstrates the speed of light 🙂
  18. adding on to the above... the universe is dusty and dust can be transparent to infrared, hence JWST sees objects that are obscured to Hubble. I have heard that SMACS 0723 has a great BBQ joint.
  19. A few thoughts... 1. Second Life annoys us in different ways, depending on our interests. We each decide which hill to die on. My hill is continental connectivity of PROTECTED water. 2. Each vehicle class (watercraft, on road vehicles, off road vehicles, trains, aircraft, animals) has it's own issues. I speculate that watercraft issues dominate. 3. The "way things are" was most likely not designed a priori. They seem to be making it up as they go. It is evident to me that Bellisseria was a product of learning from the prior mess. 4. I speculate that connectivity of vehicular pathways is subject to the network effect in that our virtual world becomes more valuable with increasing connectivity. 5. Many residents delight in having others cross their parcels in vehicles. Others do not. That is the the SL way.
  20. Oh! Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you-oo? "Mairzy Doats" (mares eat oats) is a pop song written in 1943 that amuses because what is said is not immediately understood. Similarly, sometimes we say seemingly benign things in this forum, but others may hear it as something different. I am not speaking about violating TOS or breaking rules. I am speaking of kindness. LDPW is expanding Bellisseria to our benefit and the new growth areas are dynamic. I suggest that we let them work in peace and without our commentary.
