Okie doke. I don't like death metal. So there. Now if you want to spin up some psychedelic rock, I'm all ears.

Hangars Liquides is closing!
Selene Gregoire replied to Lawrence Celestalis's topic in General Discussion Forum
On a drama scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being highest... it rates about a -5. On the other hand, drama isn't my thing so I am overly critical of all things drama. I'm really not joking. ok... Just a wee bit. Netflix would probably be better.- 925 replies

Hangars Liquides is closing!
Selene Gregoire replied to Lawrence Celestalis's topic in General Discussion Forum
Things got twisted around. I don't need you to tell me what I already know. And if you really didn't want to revisit it you could have chosen not to post. I've been in this thread since the beginning. Just because others don't see what I have doesn't mean it didn't happen. One person worded something so poorly it was understood to mean Djehan is a facist and that is what start this whole bull***** argument. I doesn't matter if you believe it or not. It is what it is. Don't bother. I won't see it.- 925 replies

I have her on ignore for good reason. I did see where Djehan called others facist but only after she had been called one. That's what started the whole thing.- 925 replies

Hangars Liquides is closing!
Selene Gregoire replied to Lawrence Celestalis's topic in General Discussion Forum
I have that in common with her. I'm just glad she didn't have to go through what I'm going through. The lifelong roller coaster ride of holding on to that hope. The older you get, the more downs there are and they get longer each time. That would have been the one thing that could have broken her. I'm barely hanging on by the skin of my teeth at 2 months short of 60.- 925 replies

Wait... what? The words of Anne Frank are facist? Anne Frank, a facist. Wow. That one takes one hell of a leap. Not one I care to even try to make. I'll leave that for the conspiracy theorists.- 925 replies

What happens if Linden lab closes/shuts down
Selene Gregoire replied to Rickyfatton's topic in General Discussion Forum
What does the debts of other countries have to do with Linden Lab going out of business in the US? Are you trying to say Linden Lab owes companies in countries other than the US money? Whatever it is you are trying to say, the bottom line is, if Linden Lab dba (doing business as) Second Life goes out of business, all residents, regardless of where they reside on the planet, will have to wait for any refunds they may get until all other debts owed by LL have been paid off. There is no guarantee any customers will get a refund of any kind because the assets are used to pay off the largest debts first, by US law (remember LL is domiciled in the US). IF anything is left over after that, it is distributed according to guidelines already in place. -

What is the better way to write this idea ?

I laughed so hard I snorted. I wonder if you could pretend to be... and have that "correction" made... how long would it take them to notice and would they keep it because it becomes really popular? *impishly innocent smile* /me whispers "You know you want to..." -
Hangars Liquides is closing!
Selene Gregoire replied to Lawrence Celestalis's topic in General Discussion Forum
She did understand it. I could see that in her own words. The problem is other people have decided she didn't before ever hearing from her about it. They made an assumption and then jumped to a conclusion and are now refusing to admit to having been wrong.- 925 replies

Hangars Liquides is closing!
Selene Gregoire replied to Lawrence Celestalis's topic in General Discussion Forum
This thread has devolved into a petty argument over a murdered child's quote and one person's interpretation and use of it. I'm pretty sure Anne herself would be ashamed to see people using her quote to ridicule another. I don't mean Djehan either. If you don't understand Djehan's message in the use and placement of that quote, that's on you, not Djehan. It isn't incongruent.- 925 replies

What happens if Linden lab closes/shuts down
Selene Gregoire replied to Rickyfatton's topic in General Discussion Forum
No, it would be because it is the law in the US. Chapter 7 Bankruptcies Under Chapter 7 bankruptcy law, the money gained from selling the company’s assets goes first to back taxes, secured creditors and employees. That usually depletes available assets. If any assets are left over after the company goes out of business, they are divided among unsecured creditors, including customers who didn’t receive services or goods already paid for. Customers who paid with credit cards may be able to dispute the charge with their credit card company to get their money back. Others who paid by check or cash, will need to file a claim with the bankruptcy court administering the process. A creditor must file a proof of claim within 90 days after the first date set for the meeting of creditors. Chapter 11 Bankruptcies A Chapter 11 bankruptcy allows the company to continue operations while it reorganizes for future stability. If a company files for Chapter 11 protection, they will often still redeem unused gift cards, fulfill services and deliver on goods. Unfortunately, some Chapter 11 bankruptcies are unsuccessful and convert into Chapter 7, which leads to closure and complete liquidation. At that point, the chances for the consumer to receive any compensation are greatly diminished. Visit https://www.uscourts.gov/ for more information. -

I've seen it happen time and time again since 2004. Wasn't hard to find this article from 2007: http://www.nbcnews.com/id/17538999/ns/technology_and_science-games/t/if-second-life-isnt-game-what-it/#.XTyma-hKiUk Second Life is not a game, it is a community. A global community utilizing a creative platform as both social and creative outlets. You can create games within SL but SL itself isn't a game. Never has been and never will be. Those that don't understand or know of the distinction between a video game and an open environment virtual world created by the people who populate that world are always going to be disappointed and leave. Because they had the wrong expectations given to them by people who insist SL is a video game. -

I still struggle with the idea of creating a work of art only to see it destroyed later. It does not sit well with me. Not when it always reminds me of the precious works that have been forever lost because of war and other human actions. I have always had the same problem with LEA. And the knowledge that SL will come to an end at some point in time. I think it is a terrible thing there is no place for such things to be preserved. Which, for me, makes it all seem rather pointless. So maybe, instead of approaching it from the same angle as LEA, do something completely different. Something unexpected. Maybe a whole new (small) continent devoted to nothing but the Arts donated or sponsored by LL. Something that will be at least as "permanent" as SL itself is.

Yep and it happens without me because who the frak gets up that damn early on a Sunday. Oh yeah... Christians. That's not my fault.
