  1. I'm fairly sure they took slide rules, for early days space missions.
  2. Gorgeous landscaping in this area. New plants as well? Unless I missed these hydrangeas elsewhere. I found this path in SSPE137. At first wondering if it was a cycle-way, but maybe too many steps for that.
  3. I used to be one of those power crazed community organisers, only in it for myself and surfing off the backs of others talents. Or at least that's what the email said that I received one day. 😲 Luckily most people have a more generous view and are grateful when others put the time in.
  4. It's still luck though, I have a fast pc and connection, but I actually got my home on an outdated very slow android tablet using intermittent wifi!
  5. This looks interesting, those long straight roads will be loved by drivers I'm sure! The mountain homes have rock textures for their outside space, which some may find inconvenient to work around, but the views will be great!
  6. @Aethelwine the moles / lindens do read the forum posts, and none of us knows what is in the pipeline. The present system is certainly stressful for so many.
  7. I think it helps restore my personal FPS as well! (struck me as a good metaphor) @Chic Aeon looks gorgeous!
  8. This did occur to me also, that if this was to be implemented some sort of randomised order would be needed, to avoid previous problems. In my view it isn't the idea itself that's the problem, it's the degree of commitment to a system that's already in place. I mean, how much time and effort that would be required to change. We don't really know what would be involved, so it's hard to say from our side whether that would be simple or not
  9. It's been surprising to me the kind of features that cause people to abandon plots. I really like the look of the home @tootsiepop1 shows above, it's a bit different and looks like it might have a nice view of the ocean from the rear balcony. I'm sure someone will love it. There are a few themes emerging in terms of popularity of plots, and it could be that there are also other people who would struggle with that kind of house. @CandyxHaven I find it hard to read your post because of my eyes and the formatting. You must be posting on a device which makes it hard to create gaps in your text?
  10. There may be a better solutions out there, but, you also have to take into account the transition costs of changing a system vs. ongoing incremental efficiency savings gained from ongoing experience. Abnor Mole stated that the team were actively working on ways of increasing the release rate using the current system, and he expected that things would get better. Frustrating as it all is, changing things might not help.
  11. I would imagine if it came to that then some accommodation would need to be made?
  12. Hehe, I should have checked the thread title before joining in. (the word Rant should have been a clue) It's just how it is with community organising, one or two people have the time, resources and motivation to make the long term commitment. Most others just join in for the fun bits. With the greater number of groups available for premium members there isn't any barrier to starting new interest groups, in fact in would probably be a good thing as the present inworld chats move so fast it is very hard to keep up at times (don't misconstrue this as lack of welcome to joining those existing groups though, plenty of not yet citizens take part)
  13. Loving looking at the photos in this thread, such beautiful rooms created! Starting from zero inventory this time around I've found myself really thinking about what I want in SL, and realised things change all the time. I'm currently spending too much time in the kitchen in real life so it's been a rebellion to avoid that room in SL
  14. @Alwin Alcott Having a sense of community is just as important as being actively involved. The presence of a very active core of residents is a good sign, and not something that happens in most of the rest of mainland. It would be utter chaos, and unlikely, if everyone joined in.
  15. You could choose to do that. In six months it will be easier to get a house, and I can't see the old linden homes vanishing before then. Not ideal but might be less stressful?
  16. I shall have a good play around and see!
  17. No worries, I shall get the latest version of sl firestorm (just as soon as I've finished getting distracted with other things :D)
  18. Change of emphasis between revenue streams, complying with legislation, or something else?
  19. Thanks @Kiramanell this solves several mysteries at once as I remember that I am still using firestorm for open sim....😲
  20. I heard you mention this before, and I have a vague memory of spotlight projectors being a thing, but I can't find that option now (Firestorm). Where do we look for this?
  21. Not necessarily, you have as much chance as anyone else! Don't give up.
  22. I have the same feeling in enclosed skyboxes.
